lavrentis Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Macedonia or Scotland! I don't know who I want to win!
Uncle Albert Posted 6 September 2008 Author Posted 6 September 2008 Macedonia is a tough place to go to, we just won there. Croatia lost there. And we couldnt score against them at home.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 FYR Macedonia 1-0 Scotland Tbf Macedonia are a very underrated team, beat a strong Croatia team last year, and have drew in England a couple of times recently.
LoughboroughFox Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Finished 1 0 shame eh we really dont like seeing scots lose do we?
Finnegan Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Happy for wales. I'm not. Toshack's inept. I say it after every game; the man has no tactical nous what-so-ever. Ledley and Edwards wasted as understudies to Koumas in a packed midfield that's only ever going to inspire the most ludicrously narrow football against a team with ten behind the ball. Painful. And with Earnshaw and then Evans as a target man for God's sakes.
act smiley Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Bit lucky though - was it that godawful 3-6-1 again?
Finnegan Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Bit lucky though - was it that godawful 3-6-1 again? More like 2 - 7 - 1. Gunter and Bale were supposedly fullbacks but they didn't have a whole lot of defensive work to do. Bale was mega in all fairness to the lad, but otherwise we looked totally shoddy. Ledley wasn't really involved, Edwards' execution of was poor and Koumas was really off form in the second half. Given we missed a penalty and their keeper made some stunning saves we probably had the opportunities to win two or three nil, but we were really, really bad.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 What a poor day for all the host nations, even though Wales and England won there are very few good signs. Wales will surely lose in Russia and England appear to be going into another fixture against Croatia in exactly the same disorganised and inept state as Steve McClaren took us into. As for the other two, Scotland could well beat Iceland but their group already appears quite formidable after today's result and Northern Ireland will probably beat the Czechs at home but if you can't get any kind of result away you won't progress. At least it's not just the home nations struggling, France heading for defeat in Austria, Italy scraping past Cyprus and a thumping defeat for Romania at home to Lithuania. Germany and Portugal the only teams to record convincing wins with Spain still in action.
lildave3 Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Turkey beat Armenia - Semih scored AGAIN. The man is simply brilliant.

Given we missed a penalty and their keeper made some stunning saves we probably had the opportunities to win two or three nil, but we were really, really bad. Ouch. I had this kind of optimistic feeling that Toshack might possibly be able to catch up the 15 years he seems to have missed, but obviously not seeing as he's still making exactly the same painful, glaring errors even a child could spot. A guy from work is going to Russia - something suggests he'll have a better time sightseeing than watching Wales 'play'.
JakeShingler Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Turkey beat Armenia - Semih scored AGAIN.The man is simply brilliant. Agreed but Nihat is better.
Corky Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Turkey beat Armenia - Semih scored AGAIN.The man is simply brilliant. He's no Colin Kaz

I got just 'bad' on my meter - at least it wasn't in the same league as England slumbering to their hard fought victory while a team-load of celebrity superstars failed to resemble anything approaching a football player. I thought most of the attacks built up well with just a final ball going astray - while the penalty was shocking, granted.
act smiley Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Not the whole "treat the penalty area like its filled with landmines" act again? Blimey.
CKB Posted 7 September 2008 Posted 7 September 2008 Austria 3 France 1 Woooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! well done to my boys in red and white! France? France who???
Finnegan Posted 7 September 2008 Posted 7 September 2008 Ouch. Aye, we're not really attractive. Unfortunately the results in Bulgaria, Germany and the like will have convinced him we can sneak points away from home if we play 10 - 0 - 1 so I imagine it's more of the same in Moscow. It makes me so angry to watch, how can he be watching the same game as me and not think "we need more width", "we need another striker", "these are fooking awful - we can afford to have more than one man up." I have no problem with him having some involvement in Welsh fooball, the job he HAS done has been excellent - but there's got to be someone better to manage the team. How drastically we really are missing Sparky now, eh. Really, really bad?I got just 'bad' on my meter - at least it wasn't in the same league as England slumbering to their hard fought victory while a team-load of celebrity superstars failed to resemble anything approaching a football player. I thought most of the attacks built up well with just a final ball going astray - while the penalty was shocking, granted. Aye, I've calmed down a bit now and it could have been worse. I'm just fed of hearing about how "we did well given that was X U21s playing" or "fair play they've four or five teenagers down there." It's all horse-shit. He's done his bleeding of youngsters he needs now to be playing the best he's got, and if they're the best he's got he needs to stop making excuses out of their age and treat them with the respect proper footballers deserve.
