:P He's garbage that scores goals and will do so for many years, so I'm happy!!

Bendtner scores goals? When did this start?

Manwell you are right he is garbage.

Awesome result, but that was some serious rub of the green. Portugal had 3 monster chances to make it 2-0, but we all know (as Leicester fans), that you have to score on your chances or it can come back to haunt you. I was was sat swearing at the Danish centre midfield (Poulsen and Jensen) all game, and they both scored in the end, typical.

Swiss fans can't taunt the Austrians with their Faroe Islands defeat anymore..... Switzerland is not a super team (neither is Denamrk by the way), but Frei, Behrami, Yakin, Degen and Senderos among others are all decent players, so losing to Luxembourg is a shocker.

And whats up with Lithuania...?!

Really? I thought Poulsen was the outstanding player for Denmark  in the second half at least. Hardly misplaced a pass, won possession a fair few times and showed incredible will and determination throughout which resulted in that goal...

It started in 2006  already has a better goals to game ratio than Rooney :P

International or Club level?

Why compare to Rooney? Compare him to a proven goalscorer.

International level

I compared to Rooney who plays in the same position and is not garbage :P No, but I think Bendtner is decent even though he may be garbage at Arsenal...

Ah I see, compare him on Club football and Bendtners is awful.

Bendtner is playing in a pretty ordinary team aswell compared to Rooney. If you want to compare Bendtner to any England player try Owen who has a goal ratio of 0.5 goals a game, where as Bendtner's is 0.38

Or.

Even Walcott who has a goals ratio of 0.75

It's as awful as Emile's record (who's a decent player).

And doesn't the fact Bendtner's in an ordinary team count in his favour when it comes to goals scored at international level? After all, the level of opposition has been about the same for England and Denmark in recent times. As for Owen (40 goals in 89 games), I raise you a Tomasson (51 goals in 99 games). And Søren Larsen scored 6 goals in his first 5 games and still has a ratio of .60 ....

So if Tomasson can score consistently in an ordinary side why cant Bendtner? Slight contradiction.

Funny.

I really thought our centre midfield was just drifting around with little impact. Did a lot of running and forechecking mind, and they weren't helped by the fact that we constantly threw the ball away trying to get Rommedahl into play. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from Poulsen, as his reputation as a defensive midfielder is quite high. Best player in my opinion was Agger even though he should have kept with Nani for the first goal instead of waiting for the offside that was never given.

Never mind our national team just pulled a massive win, so we better just enjoy it while it last. :)

The side is arguably worse now than during Tomassons prime, but regardless, comparing Bendtner and Tomasson is like comparing Rooney and Owen. Two very different players. Where Rooney/Bendtner are forwards that make things happen, Owen and Tomasson are specialised goal-getters. I'm not going to argue anymore about Bendtner though. I rate him, and it's very clear he brings another dimension into Denmark's play and he's the most dangerous weapon we have right now.

Just goes to show that one can have very different views on the same game. I thought Poulsen held the whole side together (loved the numerous times he poked the ball forward or sideways through legs of onrushing Portuguese instead of just passing it back to the defenders/keeper. That just shows how much confidence and ability he has). But I completely agree with the rest you said. Let's just hope this stupid boycott of the press overshadows the rest of the campaign... <_<

What scores are we going for then?

England 2-0 Kazakhstan

Wales 2-0 Liechtenstein

Scotland 1-1 Norway

Slovenia 1-0 Northern Ireland

This article caught my attention. I don't like Mick McCarthy but I didn't think he'd manage to stoop so low as to call Liechtenstein a "pub team". They are ranked higher than Azerbaijan who Wales struggled past so a victory isn't a forgone conclusion.

1729: As the camera pans down the Wales team during the anthems, there are swathes of empty seats visible behind them. An astonishing sight.

Lmao. Astonishing how? We're shit, we've no chance qualifying, we're crap to watch and we're playing Lichtenstein.

They should play games like this at one of the League grounds, probably get more there, better atmosphere and give some other locals a chance to see the National team without it being a day trip.

There's no-where in North Wales they could play full internationals; allegedly there's a little over half at the Millennium Stadium - that's thirty odd thousand, about double Wrexham's capacity.

You could have done it at the Liberty, but again, that's only about twenty thousand and transport's pretty easy across the whole of South Wales. We used Ninian last night but because of the terracing you can't fill that to capacity for internationals, either, else it'd have been heaving yesterday I reckon.

Millenium Stadium is probably the right choice, they just need to go back to like 2003 / 2004 prices to start bringing people back in and really putting a lot more media propaganda in to get people really fired up about the football. When we're Grand Slam champions in the national sport twice in three or four years and we can barely beat Cyprus in the football it's a little hard to attract the fair-weather fans without a bit of incentive.

I bow to your superior knowledge, pricing is the bugger they all seem to take the view that lesss paying more is the preferred option.
