MC Prussian Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Tevez thing all over again And what difference would it make? Do the Blades want an automatic points deduction for West Ham? Right now? Or next season? The whole affair's a bit silly and gets sillier by the minute... I'll get me popcorn.
MC Prussian Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 I think they want £20m from West Ham. Greedy bastewards!

This doesn't involve points it's monetary compensation based on the fact that they were found guilty and fined and according to the claim helped them stay up at Sheff U's expense. West Ham were found guilty of breaching league regulations in the signing of Tevez and Javier Mascherano in 2006. I guess in this days of grabbing any penny you can get and the riches of the Premier League you can hardly blame Sheff U for trying.
mancunianfox Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Sheffield United have every grounds to want compensation. It wasn't that long ago and they are still suffering because of West Ham's actions. If it were Leicester in that situation we would all want the club to pursue compensation if we got relegated because another team broke the rules and cheated.

Yeah, but we're Leicester and cannot count on a sympathy bonus - see the whole Administration Affair back in 2002/03. Although I agree with the notion that every other club in Sheffield United's position would probably act the same way.
Tilley Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 This still going on. They got relegated, end of. Jesus. Surely the FA have to look at themselves, they recieved the registration documents on deadline day that year etc, surely they would have known if there was something fishy.
Flynny Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 They should get their money, it was a disgrace at the time that West Ham are still profitting from.
Uncle Monty Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 They should get their money, it was a disgrace at the time that West Ham are still profitting from. Agreed, west ham broke the rules - in an ideal world they would have been relgated when it initially happened.
hairy Posted 23 September 2008 Author Posted 23 September 2008 For me, at the end of the day, they didn't score enough goals to get enough points and got relegated. Tough! To blame it on another club and the contractural issues of one player is a lame. To try to get money out of the other club, who have been punished already, is a joke.

West Ham were hardly punished at all by the FA and the punishment handed to them doesn't reflect the lost revenue and status for Sheffield United...a team relegated because of goals scored by an illegal player. Its not like it was a bit part player who only made a couple of appearances either, it was one of the most highly rated young strikers in the world. The whole situation was so dodgy and Sheffield United got completely screwed over by the FA imo.
Koke Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 I'm on the Sheffield United side. West Ham cheated and went unpunished. Sheffield United got screwed up big time, and I applaud them for not letting this go. Time to pay up you cheating cockney bastards.
JakeShingler Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 I think they want £20m from West Ham. It says :The club is claiming more than £30m in compensation from West Ham.

Agreed, and at least they're not asking to be reinstated in the premier league this time.
The Blur Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 I think they want £20m from West Ham. I guess that whats they missed out on Sky money when they went down I'm on Sheffield United's side but isn't what they are asking for bit over the top?
Asha Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 I guess that whats they missed out on Sky money when they went downI'm on Sheffield United's side but isn't what they are asking for bit over the top? Not just sky. That figure is what Sheff Yoo has said was their overall cost of going down
JakeShingler Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Not just sky. That figure is what Sheff Yoo has said was their overall cost of going down It is £30 mil
The Blur Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Not just sky. That figure is what Sheff Yoo has said was their overall cost of going down Okay, but it is not entirely West Ham's fault that they got relegated they was just not good enough for Premiership so what they are claiming for should be scaled down
Asha Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Just checking Yeah no probs, although the lad I quoted said £20m, I believed it to be £30m as well. On another note, I know this girl who supports Sheff Yoo, and she said last year that she wanted them to just forget about it, as they were more than capable of going straight back up, and that the whole 'will we be reinstated' thing took over their pre-season. Maybe by dragging it on they're only harming themselves? Not my opinion, just a thought though.

Uncle Albert Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Fairplay to Sheff Yanited. Like Flynny said West Ham are still profiting from it, I dont really like either team but Sheff Yanited have a fair point. £30 million doesnt come close to what they would of made if they stayed in the Premier League.
Koke Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 If this was Leeds, instead of West Ham, they'd have been relegated 2 divisions, docked 25 points and fined £5 million. But West Ham have friends higher up and not forgetting the Trevor Brooking connections.
