shen Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 For me, at the end of the day, they didn't score enough goals to get enough points and got relegated. Tough! To blame it on another club and the contractural issues of one player is a lame. To try to get money out of the other club, who have been punished already, is a joke. Okay, but it is not entirely West Ham's fault that they got relegated they was just not good enough for Premiership so what they are claiming for should be scaled down That's very debatable. Had West Ham not gotten Tevez, could you have seen them surviving? He had a very large hand in steering the Hammers clear of relegation. And thus you could argue that Sheff Utd DID score enough goals and got enough points had it not been for West Ham cheating... However, it's unbelievable that the FA aren't the ones being punished for letting it happen*. It's all very dodgy, and I can't imagine anything else than the Hammers bribing FA officials at the time to turn a blind eye towards the whole Tevez thing... *edit: not that West Ham shouldn't also be punished of course...

A point to you then What I find about this sitatioun is that it is impossible to determine who are fully to blame and who should be punished Are it possible for FIFA or UEFA to get involved? this way they can punish FA and make them pay or share the fine with West Ham its bit harsh to punish West Ham again and again when they are supposed to have paid their price however how small it was
Daggers Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Blades fans are going to be mighty disappointed when the money vanishes into the pockets of Directors. "Where's the money gone?" chant coming to a ground near you soon!

The Reverend Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Sheffield United have every right to want compensation. West Ham stayed up due to the fact that AN ILLEGAL PLAYER scored about 5 goals in their last 7 games, and West Ham stayed up because of this. If the illegal player wasnt playing for West Ham, they would have gone down instead of Sheff Yoo, so if the world was fair, West Ham should be relegated and given the money they would have been given had they stayed up. You cant even argue with that.
moseeds Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Just saw this on The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/se...sheffieldunited £30 Million - WOW! I think like many other people I too believe West Ham cheated their way to Premiership status. However this ruling does open a huge can of worms. Surely the only sensible action the FA/PL can take is to dock West Ham (say) 20 points for the beginning of next season?
Head Honcho Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 This doesn't involve points it's monetary compensation based on the fact that they were found guilty and fined and according to the claim helped them stay up at Sheff U's expense.I guess in this days of grabbing any penny you can get and the riches of the Premier League you can hardly blame Sheff U for trying. ........and I can't help thinking that we'd be doing the same.
Ashley Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Sheffield United have every right to claim. Tevez shouldnt of been playing.
Jimmy Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 this is the same Sheffield United that blamed us for their failing to get promotion remember, same old pass-the-buck mentality, no sympathy what so ever for them, remember at the time last game of the season all they needed was a point from their game against Wigan (who were actually in the bottom 3) and they lost, at home, they had it in their own hands and threw it away
Jimmy Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Shef Utd to sue Arsenal Kevin McCabe, Sheffield Utd chairman has vowed to sue Arsenal afterlosing 6 - 0 in the League Cup 3rd round. "It's not fair" he whined, "they were better than us". Commenting after his full strength squad was outplayed, outclassed and totally humiliated by an Arsenal team whose average age was only 19, he bellyached "If they hadn't beaten us, we might have gone on to win the League Cup, I want £40 million in lost TV rights and a EUFA Cup place, we might have even won the EUFA Cup, I think I'll sue for £80 million" The blunts Chairman was made to look like the low life scum bag he is after 2 goals by Bendtner, a hatrick by Vela, and a debut goal by 16 year old Jack Wilshire, put his pathetic Championship team back into the place where they belong - obscurity. "It was past his bedtime, AND it's a school night", the greedy, spiteful git whinged, "Do his parents know he's up this late? I bet he hasn't done his homework - I'll telephone his school tomorrow, and get him detention!" In reply Arsene Wenger said "I did not see it" taken from another forum
act smiley Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 this is the same Sheffield United that blamed us for their failing to get promotion remember, same old pass-the-buck mentality, no sympathy what so ever for them, remember at the time last game of the season all they needed was a point from their game against Wigan (who were actually in the bottom 3) and they lost, at home, they had it in their own hands and threw it away I don't give a toss who it is, they've every right to this appeal in my eyes. If they'd sent Wigan down instead, I'd be saying the same thing just with a few names changed. It doesn't matter who it is, whether they'd had a chance to send Wigan down or whatever, only what happened - and that is that a team which knowingly cheated got let off with the tiniest of slap-on-the-wrist punishments, at the severe cost to another team. In my eyes, they've every right to be pissed off about it still, even if they do need to get on with life now (which a substantial bit of compensation would no doubt help with).
Jimmy Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 they are suing the wrong people, west ham were punished already, its the FA and Premier League that should be getting sued
lildave3 Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Shef Utd to sue Arsenaltaken from another forum Wouldn't be too bad if UEFA was spelt right.
Simi Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Richard Scudamore should just resign and give all his earnings to a good cause, because he most certainly doesn't deserve them in my view.
