OAFC Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Well I am seeing our game next week as a great yard stick to judge our chances of promotion against. I am just here to gauge opinions of how you think you will fare against us and what you think of football in league 1 so far. We’ve been in this division now longer than any other team and its boring as hell but this year I think is our best chance since the Dowie days of us getting out of it. We seem to do well against the better teams Leeds Mkdons etc and I think we stand a good chance in taking all 3 points but with a hostile atmosphere and a big game predicted I think 2-2.
whitlock Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Alrite pal, should be a good game by all accounts. Same for us really to see what we can do against a team doing well. Id say that our strongest point would be our defence, a lot of quality back there. We create so many chances and if we can take those chances against you lot then i can see us coming away with all 3 points personally. Be a good game
Tilley Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Leeds are the only team in the whole division that bother me. We will beat you, 4-1, Andy King will score first.

Hi OAFC I think League 1 is nothing less than we expected. The opposition is poor up until now. The 1 game we have lost was due to 4 players thinking they were great and just had to turn up to win and the opposition (Millwall) scoring the 1st and defending for the rest of the game. Two of their players had blinders that day Any way I also see Oldham as potential promotion contenders. You certainly got off to a good start! However your results suggest that your defence is weak. This may be an area which needs organising or strengthening. Personally I think we should win every game on paper in this division, however Football is not played on paper. If we are bothered and you have some slow fullbacks you are in for a bad day. If your defence can keep us quiet and dominate our 2 centre mids then it will be tough

Well we beat leeds 3-1 at their place last year and we beat them 2-0 at eland road this season, Leeds are nothing if you get the ball down and play it at speed and we can do that and do it well at home! The only bad point for us is i would say this year when Hughes hasnt played we are lacking up front but having said that we are scoring from all over the park. For you guys watch out for chris taylor!!! For us theres a few i am looking forward to seeing and it has the makings of a great game on and off the pitch!

Hopefully atmosphere will be alright, Still can see us winning. I'm still pretty confident about this month. If we can beat you guys & Walsall then that is great for us. December is the month we get tested most, Leeds & Carlisle away.

If your defence can keep us quiet and dominate our 2 centre mids then it will be tough Yeah we have conceded some truly shocking goals this season, first game against millwall they had 3 shots and scored 3 goals ffs We came back from 3-1 and won 4-3 so we have spirit at long last. Unfortunately for you guys our full backs are pretty good, we have Neil Eardley who's captain of wales under 21 and full international and has been linked with big clubs like Liverpool etc and on the other side we have a lad on loan from wolves Daniel Jones seems ok. Last few games we have been without Sean Gregan (3game ban) and we missed his leadership and presence but he returns against you guys. I am looking forward to seeing you play as the last time was in 1996 at boundary park we won 3-1 I think, however I think it will be closer this time.

Compared to yours our ground is non league Its not the best anyway but at the moment its 3 sided and looks kack, however i will be sat next to your fans behind the goal and that stand holds around 4600 and makes great noise!!
Koke Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Good afternoon OAFC. I predict a decent game. This will undoubtly be our toughest game so far. We are pretty solid at the back and rarely give anything away. Letting Huddersfield back into the game last week was a massive blunder on our part. It should not happen again. I admit, I know very little about Oldham but if we concentrate on our own game, we can continue our winning streak. Your full backs needs to be on their toes and cannot afford to be sloppy ish. If that happens, then you are in for a real bad day. Lloyd Dyer is our man of the moment, 5 goals so far, and takes the piss out of the oppositions. He was double marked against Huddersfield which made him have a quite game for his own high standards, but that didn't stop him scoring the winner in the 91st minute. And also, Matty Fryatt's confidence is sky high and he should be up for it. 9 goals in 11 games is exceptional in any league. If we play to our potential, I believe we'll come away with all 3 points, and make it five wins on the trot.
OAFC Posted 11 October 2008 Author Posted 11 October 2008 Good afternoon OAFC. I admit, I know very little about Oldham I am hoping it runs through to the team and we use this to our advantage . Hughes 5 goals in 7 ChrisTaylor (our Ginger winger) 6 goals so far. Cant wait.
Tommeh Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Will you be snapping up luke mcormick when he's released from the nick in 3 years time aswell?
Simi Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Oldham won't know what's hit them when row CC roll up.

Jay Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Watch this He scored some great goals and important ones too, but he will be known as a donkey by most fans True!! but what a donkey and what a mullet a player who was over weight, always injured, never fit had little skill, couldn't run but managed to score in the UEFA cup away at Athletico Madrid!! he came back with his canadian soccer school a few weeks ago and spooned a shot wide from about 6yards!!

Very Harsh! Marshall knew where the back of the net was and did well for us in the Prem! Remember that

If your defence can keep us quiet and dominate our 2 centre mids then it will be tough I actually think most of the opposition we have been up against has been quite good, better than i thought. Many of the teams try to play proper football, which suits us. When we played Millwall they were quite physical and stopped us playing and we didn't know what to do. We should win every game on paper, but the some of the wins we have had haven't been easy tbh. I like your signature, filbert street had great atmosphere, great memories!
Uncle Monty Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 He scored some great goals and important ones too, but he will be known as a donkey by most fans What a mullet!
Jay Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Very Harsh! Marshall knew where the back of the net was and did well for us in the Prem! Remember that that's kinda what my point was the bloke couldn't run wasn't exactly blessed will silky skills yet still managed to score goals!!
Pegosteve Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 How about another legend for both sides. Alan Young!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NewquayFox Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Tommy Wright ! Oh and that feckin Plastic pitch. ;0(
Ashley Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Hi OAFC. Welcome to Foxestalk. I'm looking foward to my trip up to Oldham next week, it should be a very entertaining game. Is there any good places closeish to the ground to park and make a good exit away? What are your stewards like? Thanks Ashley
Daggers Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Leeds are the only team in the whole division that bother me. All of the teams at the top end are potential banana skins, if we leave Oldham with a point it'll be 'job done'.
