Joe. Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 It's goals vs goals. It'll definitely be an interesting game, and an open one at that I'm sure. I reckon a draw will come from it, I wouldn't mind that too much.
Bert Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 I'd be happy with a point. If you can win at home, and pick up a point away from home, you're pretty much guaranteed to be there.
Tevez Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 millllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll lll
Simpo Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Tommy Wright ! Oh and that feckin Plastic pitch. ;0( Tommy Wright is our assistant manager now, you might hear us singing his name on Saturday. And the magic carpet was awesome. 8) The foxes and then S****horpe are our next 2 home game, 2 points would be alright, 3 decent, 4 great, 6 incredible! If you do come away with 3 points you'll have earned it, we have a 2008 home record of DWWWDLWWDWWWWWWDW (i.e. P17 W12 D4 L1).

I reckon a draw will come from it, I wouldn't mind that too much. A draw would be a fine result. Having said that, ive put £20 on us to win on all our away games so far (apart from the Stockport game!) and don't intend to stop now. Betting on us at home is a waste of time cos odds too short but away can normally get around 6/4, its like buying money......
OAFC Posted 12 October 2008 Author Posted 12 October 2008 Hi OAFC. Welcome to Foxestalk. I'm looking foward to my trip up to Oldham next week, it should be a very entertaining game. Is there any good places closeish to the ground to park and make a good exit away? What are your stewards like? Thanks Ashley Car Parking Right near the ground (bout 60 sec walk to away turnstile) there is a B&Q and you can park on there for free but it takes around 10 mins to get off after the game. We also have the biggest official car park I have ever seen at a football ground so parking wont be a problem. Stewards. Because of the ground redevelopment we only have 3 stands this year so we share the away stand with you guys and are separated by a moat thing and riot police etc, which makes for excellent banter and an intimidating atmosphere. The stewards are usually job worths but for the bigger games they don’t do much and leave it to the police. Drink There’s a harvester pub called Clayton Green behind the home end which gets a bit busy but does good pub grub. Theres plenty of pubs on Rochdale road at the top of the hill behind the away end. And oldham centre is 20 min walk away also. DON’T go in ‘The Queens’ it’s the pub with the big Oldham crest and St Georges flag painted on it.

We played Hereford today and they were really bad! OAFC 4 Hereford 0
Maybes Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Biggest test of the season so far is this game. Like a few have said a point wouldn't be the worst result in the world and I think the game will be a draw. 3 point would be brilliant.

Tilley Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Good result for Oldham today, But doesn't worry me, we are a different kettle of fish to bloody Hereford. Draw wouldn't be a disaster, but can see us winning.
Simi Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Can see this being yet another sit down shut up game for our lot.
Maybes Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Can see this being yet another sit down shut up game for our lot. Not with Row CC standing.
Daggers Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Milwall was our biggest test so far and we were left wanting; Hopefully Pearson has learned from his mistakes the last time we cancelled a game for internationals.
Ric Flair Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 I'm not as confident as some on here that we'll walk away with 3 points. If we get the win then it's likely we'll have had to play better than we have done all season. Although we have won 4 on the bounce in the league and 4 away games on the spin, we aren't actually playing 'that' well but we are so strong that we are getting the wins. In games like Saturday's we'll need to be both strong and play well for the majority of the game to get the win and although that's not unachievable it's something we aren't guaranteed to do. I'd be happy with a point, but we'll be going all out for the 3 points and rightly so. Taylor looks a right handful for them and Hughes knows where the net is, will be interesting to see what Tunchev makes of him. Taylor against Gilbert? I hope Adams or Gradel (likely to be Adams) helps out a lot defensively. Gradel for me is the better tackler, but if Adams is given the nod we'll need to take care of Taylor otherwise there might be trouble brewing. Gilbert has come up against some decent/average wingers in Chris Shuker and Gary Roberts and allowed them to beat him and score, so we need to do a number on Chris Taylor who is better than both of those. Lord Dyer is needed as well to take it to them, that Eardley is a great prospect at right back but the way Dyer is playing, he'll have to be on top form. Looking forward to it.

I'm in full agreement. If our strikers aren't on form, I think we'll struggle - Largely down to who takes their chances on Saturday me thinks.

leicesterseddon Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Milwall was our biggest test so far and we were left wanting; Hopefully Pearson has learned from his mistakes the last time we cancelled a game for internationals. but then i suppose he could claim that winning 4 on the spin after the millwall defeat justified the decision. anyway this is a long season and the games will soon start coming thick & fast, so i don't mind him taking long-term decisions. i don't think we lost the millwall game simply because we had a break...it was obviously the MOTM curse
Webbo Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Said on the moan in that we've sold 2,400 tickets for this already.
