Can't name an album as such but can name some songs I've got and like: -Seven -Sign O' The Times -Controversy -1999 -Purple Rain (obviously) -Kiss -Nothing Compares To You -When Doves Cry

AoWW Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Prince has done some fantastic stuff, but also some truly dire fillers that tend to 'bulk up' his albums, imo. Purple Rain and 1999 are probably my favourite albums if I had to choose. If you're really just looking for an introduction to his music (and much as I'm not normally a fan of 'best of' type-albums) why not try the double-disc 'Ultimate'. Disc one has got his best-known 'hits' on and disc two has dance remixes (of varied success). Or go for the earlier 'very best of Prince' album which provides a scant overview but would help you to narrow your preferences down to a particular period/album. The track Purple Rain is, indeed, quality. Haven't listened to Prince for ages though - may have to give it a go for old time's sake!

I only know the ones my brother had, and they were 1999, Purple Rain, and Around The World in a Day, the last of which should definitely be avoided. Come to think of it, I think he had 'Parade' as well, and that was alright at the time

Includes the fantastic "If I Was Your Girlfriend" and the amazing "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man". Top album.
