Simi Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I trust your views more than most (apart from when it comes to a certain centre forward), but is it just a minor slip and lack of professionalism which we'll get over sooner than later, or are should we really be concerned about our current situation? I'm pissed off by last night, but I think we'll come good in the end. We've lost 2, Leeds have lost 4, and Scunny and Millwall have lost 3 each. It just seems when we lose a goal we always hit the panic button. The best thing you can do after conceding a goal in my opinion is to just look after the ball for five 5 minutes and consolidate, we didn't do that. We hoofed it forward and invitied pressure on ourselves. Lack of professionalism certainly, but it is often reoccuring. I am still positive about this season, we will do well. But basic standards are letting us down at the moment.
Simi Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 King is not a Tiatto and we never got anywhere the top of the table with Tiatto. King is a pass and move player who needs pass and move players around him to show up at his best. But, gradually, we've moved away from pass and move. With Kisnorbo at centre-back, Hobbs at right back and the virtually unmentioned Berner alongside King in midfield, our collective impetus is nothing like what it was. When we did pass and move and we did close down quickly as a unit, we won matches and collected points conssistently. Now we are shipping goals compared to previously and becoming disjointed. Pass and move doesn't really have a lot to do with that I was on about. The fact is, we were 2-0 up and under pressure. Regardless of what type of player you are, if you are in centre midfield, you close down the ball and put tackles in. It's right at the top of obviousness! Both failed to do that and it cost us, simple as.

Four 90-minute games in a fortnight and no options on the bench. Brighton used fresh legs last night and it gave them new impetus.

Simple. The comment about panicking after we concede a goal still rings true though.

Simi Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Ched. Brixton?! We missed the M25 and Tommeh was adamant that we could go through London and then get onto the M1 easy enough. We ended up going right through London, passed the NatWest building and Canary Warf, then we started seeing signs for Brixton and Selhurst Park! One wrong turn and you can be going down a road you don't want to for quite some time! Horrible place to get lost.

I just noticed your Facebook status and was curious as to how you incorporated a trip to Brixton into Brighton away. You were almost in my neck of the woods.

JakeShingler Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Imagine how the Arsenal fans feel now, same as us really They played at home aswell.
AoWW Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Just got back in home, after leaving for Brighton at 11:07 yesterday. I can't be arsed to read the whole thread so apoligies in advance if I go over whats been said previously. First point, is that National rail are robbing fookers, £35.50 kids return, disgusted. Second point, was the fooking weather, went for a nice stroll down Brighton pier, and it starts hailing, raining, everything. Not happy. Then the match ticket was £20, how they can charge that, I will never know, the ground is shit. Championship teams don't charge that much, and there facilities are 1000x better than that fooking thing. The food, was poor, it was on par with fulham . The teams performance was poor. Gradel didn't look interested, nor did Kisnorbo. And the fact that after 90 minutes of shit, only 3 players had the bottle to come over and clap. Kisnorbo, Fryatt and Powell. Not even pearson On a lighter note, good support last night, made a good atmosphere, although, the 4 boys behind me, please, never attend a Leicester match again, 90 minutes, of 4 teenagers singing about gays, boyfriends etc.... Good to see a few FT's about, lcfc_jme, LD3, Ched and Bert (i think) amongst others, the flag looked spot on,first time I had seen it close up. But not me?! Other mentions... TPH - huge thanks for the lift to and from the 'stone. You're a star. Fez and Alex - for getting us back to the bus (fook knows which way we were heading!) and for not forcing me to walk back to the Park and Ride car park. Enjoy gay Paris! Gazzer - for the Grolsch. IofW Fox - you do, indeed, look more than a little like Moby - nice to meet you To the other FTers who I bumped into... respect for making the journey. Birchanger Services - for bucket-sized cups of the strongest-imaginable coffee and for stocking Pro Plus.
