Daggers Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 [TWAT-END PICTURES] So, you are drinking in the Swan this weekend? I'm betting you don't.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Firsty im sooo gutted at this result...Driving into work we were 2-0 up and things going well with matty scoring twice * missed 40mins * switch on the wireless to find out weve just lost 3-2. From what i heard of the game Brighton were pretty much in control and Leicester looked like the weaker team its not very easy to sit there and pinpoint players for being "at fault" I do hope "fans" dont get on the back on Martin as he's got real potential and im alot more confident of him being between the sticks over Henderson.... As a season ticket holder ive said since the last international break that we need a leader in the midfield/ A solid Spine on the pitch, now Oakley(granted he didnt play this evening) & King is never going to work as a partnership in all honesty i dont rate either player, Oakley is just picking up his cheque & King althou played 4 games in 2 weeks i dont see him than more than a substitute player who is an assist to the team when he can come and play the last 40mins but to be a regular first teamer at such a young age is prehaps asking a little to much of him at this time, Its no secret that we do need another striker as i do belive Howard has been putting in some lackluster & stale performances and rightly deserves some stick(not as much as he is getting thou) for this and i feel like things are not great when Barry hayles is our only option, Its a shame not to see names such as Craig King & Sappleton not even gettin there chances on the bench to show for 20/30mins that they want to be playing first team football. i know ive drifted off the point of tonights game but overall i think theres 4/5 players who could quite easily be dropped for Bristol(A King,Hobbs,Howard,Oakley-inj + ). I carnt help but feel if we sold some of our "BIG" names--- DJ Campbell,Clemence,Oakley,Howard it would free up ample wages to bring in the 2-3 we need in our Squad Oh and for the record i did BOOOOO on sat as i was soo disapointed with Tues game then to go and watch that rubbish performance(which cost me 60pounds to see both games on just expences) i feel i was totally justified to Boo as did the other 1000+ fans who also followed suit. And for those who think all is fine and dandy...take the rose tinters off look what happened last season when you kept them on
Bert Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I can't believe what I've seen. We started off poorly, then when we finally got a hold on the game, we took a two goal lead. Had the ball in the net one more time which was ruled out, and I'm sure another time but I can't be too sure. So, we go in at half time with a 2-0 lead, and going on our away form i thought we would be good for the win. We had a stonewall penalty turned down, and after that, the rest is all history. Nige looked well pissed off walking into the dressing rooms at full time. To top the night off only three (Fryatt, Powell, Kisnorbo) of the players came and acknowledged the fans, which really pissed me off.
Ultra Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 And for those who think all is fine and dandy...take the rose tinters off look what happened last season when you kept them on Well said. Congrats on your 1st post.
Joe. Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Just got back. What a ****ing joke. Words can't fully described how gutted and downright pissed off I was when their second and third goals went in. The first half we had complete control, and the two goal lead. So why in the second half did we invite so much pressure onto ourselves? We asked for it. Too many free-kicks in dangerous positions given away too tonight by our defenders, it was a shambles at times. Oh, and it was ****ing cold. Midfielders are anonymous again, I can't think of anything useful King or Berner did all game. Gradel was way off it today, the left back read him every time almost. Lloyd's looking a shadow of the player we saw at the beginning of the season. It was positive seeing Fryatt bury his two chances though, he needed them. What the hell was Hobbs playing at for the goal? Bad commnucation clearly somewhere along the line. Oh, and Martin's got to go. Saturday is must win.
lildave3 Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 First half, cruised. Second half, we sat back. God knows why. A blatant penalty was somehow not given, we've had another two disallowed and basically, that game should have been ours. I've (sort of) defended Martin before, but just lately and especially tonight, he's worried me. No communication which I imagine is what led to their winner, although I couldn't actually see. The Withdean is shit, but at least they had no problems with standing.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 To top the night off only three (Fryatt, Powell, Kisnorbo) of the players came and acknowledged the fans, which really pissed me off. Seems like they couldnt give two craps about the 800+ fans that spent ALOT of money,Long journeys home, half a nights sleep and a return to work the next day and quite frankly its disgusting that they(incl NP) didnt even have face to show there aprication* to you. I would like to show my thanks to each & everyone of the fans who travelled down this evening your the ones who make the diffrence

Raj Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 To top the night off only three (Fryatt, Powell, Kisnorbo) of the players came and acknowledged the fans, which really pissed me off. THAT is a disgrace in iteslf. If the players feel fcuked off for losing, imagine how the fans felt who paid money and took alot of time and effort to go and watch. Sometimes players just dont help themselves. So why in the second half did we invite so much pressure onto ourselves? Midfielders are anonymous again, We ALWAYS invite pressure upon ourselves. That seems to be the story of the last few seasons. Dont we ever fcuking learn to kill of games? Midfield???? Needs attention quick...Time for Messrs Oakley and his Boys to step up to the mark. I've (sort of) defended Martin before, but just lately and especially tonight, he's worried me. No communication which I imagine is what led to their winner, although I couldn't actually see. I thought he was terrible v Northampt but perhaps it was a one off. As people have said already Well Done To all the 800+ fans who went. On Aplus side(?) atleast Leeds and scunnie lost...
Candidcamera Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Have to say Leicester fans are just the best, no argument. Brighton is one heck of a trip and the disappointment can be felt reading the postings.
Asha Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Pearson Upset By Second Half ShowingLeicester City manager Nigel Pearson was understandably an unhappy man after seeing his side lose 3-2 at Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening. The Foxes were coasting at half-time thanks to another Matty Fryatt brace - his 10th and 11th goals of the season - but two long range efforts from loanee Bradley Johnson and a late Jack Hobbs own goal condemned the visitors to only their second league defeat of the campaign and their first in nine matches. Pearson said: "It's pretty obvious that I am an angry man at the moment and am not very happy. "We enjoyed a good first half but we did not apply ourselves for 90 minutes it's as simple as that and have suffered the consequences. "It is a team game; players have to do their jobs and see the game through for 90 minutes but we did not do that and that is frustrating and bitterly disappointing." The result has pushed City down to sixth place in League One but they are still only four points behind leaders S****horpe United with a game in hand. "There will be plenty to talk about in training tomorrow (Wednesday) and let's leave it at that," he added. "I was very disappointed with our application in the second half. We got ourselves into a good position and then threw it away. "And it's not about singling out individuals; we win as a team, and lose as a team." The games continue however to come thick and fast for the Foxes and Bristol Rovers are the visitors to the Walkers Stadium on Saturday afternoon for another important fixture. "We have to bounce back and pick ourselves up," Pearson added. "We have fallen short tonight but we are professionals and we need to get back on track and quickly." Pearson also revealed that stand-in skipper Matt Oakley missed the Seagulls clash due to injury. "Matt has a knee injury but hopefully he'll be fit to play his part on Saturday." Link
Flynny Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 We're having our blip and we're still only 4 points off the top, potentially just the 1 if we win our game in hand. I'm not worried, but then I've not been to many games lately, and I know how disspiriting 270 minutes of football without a win can be. Chin up guys.
Uncle Albert Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Come on boys it was going to happen to us once this season wasnt it? Glad we have got it out of the way now to be honest. Fairplay to all you badboys who went to the game but I am now glad I stayed in and watched Prison Break. Up the Foxes and up the Aths!
Ric Flair Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Really bad result and it obviously highlights some deficiencies within our team. It's been coming for a few games now, probably starting at Huddersfield away when we surrendered a 2 goal lead only to get the winner. I hope this result alone allows both Pearson and the players to sort things out because we are in danger of throwing away a very good start to the season and the pressure of being a big club in this league when our mentality at this club is at an all time low could be very detrimental and I don't even want to think about it. Pearson doesn't seem to be the sort of chap who will let this lie, he'll have them by the short and curly's and hopefully raise a reaction out of them. Changes need to be made in the team, not massive one's but there needs to be a freshening up of things. Mandaric needs to back Pearson in the transfer market. We need a new central midfielder and a striker who can give us a different option to Howard or Fryatt. Our defence although sloppy of late, can be sorted out. Kisnorbo appears to have made things worse, but that might be being unfair on him. Passing is not a strong point of his but before he came back we had Tunchev, Hobbs, Gilbert and Powell who were all comfortable of knocking the ball about and creating space to make an attack. Hobbs looks to be a poor right back, so let's hope Gilbert is back for Saturday and then it's up to Pearson as to whether he chooses Hobbs or Kisnorbo or perhaps Morrison. Martin is on thin fookin ice as well, but it seems blatant that Nige thinks Henderson is dog shit, so I don't see what he's going to do there. Big game saturday, i'll be there singing my heart out and urging us on for the win, whether it's classy or scrappy we need it.
Suffolk_fox Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 All the interviews and all the grumbling isn't going to give us a penalty and a 3-0 lead. We lost focus and concentration and we seemed to stop going forward. It's an awful result. Smacks of being shoddy and unprofessional. I don't know whether it's since Kisnorbo came back or since Hobbs moved to full-back but our distribution from the back is sounding awful. I've had a funny feeling about Kisnorbo for some time - disruptive influence? Different style of play? I dunno, but we don't seem to be at our best when we play our 'Best' players - its not the skill of the individual players, its how they play together as a whole. I would rather see our original defence than bringing on the 'Big Guns' Disallowed goal, penalty not given, 2 long range goals against and a own goal late to top it. Fed up with heart breaks like this, does this happen for other clubs so often too? Yes it does - but Citeh fans seem to think we are Chelsea.... (Who incidentally lost to Liverpool 1-0 on Sunday - terrible!!) Not a good result - to say the least.I find it hard to believe that many so called fans on here are blasting individul players based on a radio commentary! I would rather wait for the autopsy to happen from those who were actually there. Well said! I didn't go either so I can't comment on the quality of play.
Wycombe Fox Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Got home at 1.45 this morning and went straight to bed. Couldn't have written anything last night anyway, I was just too gobsmacked. Firstly the support was great and I got to meet some FT members at last - AOWW, Katy, 'The' Ched, Joe., LilDave, Syston Fox - anyone else? Well what a fiasco! All five goals were at the opposite end of the ground and when I say opposite end of the ground, I might as well say opposite end of the universe. What a terrible ground! You just can't see what the hell is going on. First half we were on top, obviously, at 2-0, and I don't think anybody could have expected to lose. We should have had a definite penalty early in the second half but nothing was given and no excuse for what transpired. The last half hour we were ripped to shreds. All I can remember seeing in the last 30 minutes was Brighton players whizzing left and right (the pitch is so far away you get no perspective of depth/distance to goal) with ball at feet, no challenges going in and constantly bearing down on goal. It was one of the most gutless performances I've ever seen. The gaps through the central midfiled were alarming to say the least. I felt like I was part of a John Barber commentary from last season, if that makes sense. At 2-1 up the Brighton fans were singing '3-2, we're gonna win 3-2' and at 3-2 they were singing '3-2 and you ****ed it up' and you couldn't argue with it - we did **** it up. So after a four-hour journey home, including an hour wait for a ferry at Portsmouth, I maybe should have taken MM's advice and just gone to the pub!
Katy Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Livid. It's the not that fact that we lost, it's the manner of the defeat. 2-0 up and then to take the piss and lose 3-2 is wank for a team that's thinking about promotion. I knew this league wouldn't be easy, not by any stretch but you don't gift teams 3 points like that. No the fook way! It's a piss take of a ground as well.
Dr The Singh Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I think we've been sussed, teams no our strength lies on our wings, nulify the wingers and you've got a chance!! Were begiining to look like a true league one team, and worse still Nigel keeps us one dimensional, like I think Anish said his subs are always like for like, he niether shows no craft or adventurism in his tactics or style of play!! Our defence is able to defend, the midfield again is the problem, we seem to have the same problems as last season!! Well, I said I would jusdge the team and Nigel after 15 games, and as a whole i'm generally pleased, were only 5 pointa of the top, but the last 5 games tells a story, infact i'n gagging to go to the game on the weekend, i'm hoping the team and Nige proove me wrong!!!
RowlattsFox Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Just had a look on the Brighton forums and they say that Thornton was the difference in the second half, is he the guy from Coventry? If it is then he's always looked good whenever I've seen him and he always plays well against us.
harpendenfox Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I may be being hopelessly optimistic, but I think out of this mess we will arrive at a turning point. We will realise we will have to earn every win, and have to play at full volume for 90+ minutes every game if we are to succeed. I like the way Nige didn't criticise his players publicly. That never works. However I have a feeling he won't spare anyone in training today. I believe he will feel as humiliated as we do. I think we will play solidly on Saturday, beat Bristol Rovers, and get our season back on track. Huge commiserations to all of you travelled to Brighton last night to ensure such humiliation. You make Leicester City the fine club that it is, regardless of the ineptitude we have to endure on the pitch
Houdini Logic Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Three points of note i have taken from last night/of late: Hobbs - can not play right back. Brighton were aiming balls in his direction all night and he wasn't able to handle them. Central Midfield - 1) Toughen the **** up 2) stay in midfield, or at least keep your eye on the vast holes that seem to be regulary appearing. Martin - Distribution skills of an armless paperboy. Some poor decisions recentley - time to swap.
Frenzied Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I'm still fuming after that - what a waste of time and money. The main problem, as many have already said, is central midfield. I can count on one hand the number of times I've noticed Andy King this season - why one earth he's in the team is anyone's guess. The reason Brighton got back into the game was because we weren't closing them down or marking properly - the main culprits being the central midfielders. The first goal seemed like it was Martin's fault - a shot he should have saved. Why Hobbs turned their winner into his own net I can't fathom either. We desperately need a central midfielder that will graft and put the tackles in or we will have an uphill struggle to get promoted.
Tommeh Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 what a fooking night that was, just a shame that a game of football broke out on the horizon and we were murdered last half hour.
marbelladave Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Several posters have been having a go at our central midfield, from what I saw last night this is unfair in the extreme. Our back 4 played too deep, our wingers stayed wide which left King and Berner outnumbered. Berner may be a decent enough fullback but central midfield is NOT his game, this left King pretty much on his own and he was easily bypassed in the second half. King made the mistake of allowing himself to be pushed too deep so he was waiting for the attackers just in front of the back 4 instead of coming forward and closing them down. These problems were caused primarily by a defense that played too deep and a lack of flexibility further forward. Second half we were stretched both laterally and from front to back and Brighton just poured through the gaps! As bad as anything I saw last season!

Quite ironic that we had one, and then shipped him out, only for him to return home a crock
