Brighton Post Match

And you base that critique of his performance on what exactly?

I wasn't critiquing Martin's performance. Read the post. I said why's he in the team. I've been to maybe 200 games and I can only remember 1 game where a keeper let in 3 and had a good game (Fulop v Chelsea). Bring back Hendo.

I haven't been this annoyed about City in a while. I can actually see why that bloke had a heart attack against Palace. How the hell we can lose from 2 up against a Brighton team who are poor, who have not won at home for a while?! Shocking I can't believe it. Get Martin out, get Hendo and Dikov back and sort this heap of shit out. Can't. fooking. Believe. IT!! FFS!!

Brighton vs Leicester City 3 - 2

Leicester City surrendered a two goal lead as they went down 3-2 against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Matty Fryatt's 10th and 11th goals of the season looked to have put the Foxes on their way to victory, but a Bradley Johnson second half double and a late Jack Hobbs own goal condemned the visitors to only their second league defeat of the campaign.

It was disappointing to say the least for City who looked in total command at the break, but the Seagulls completely turned the game on its head in the second 45 minutes and somehow came away with all three points.

City created the first real chance of the game on six minutes when he cut inside Tommy Elphick from the left before getting a shot in on goal, but 'keeper John Sullivan was equal to the task and blocked his effort before pouncing on the loose ball.

At the other end, Hobbs had to be alert to clear Kevin McLeod's low cross into the box a minute later.

McLeod fired high and wide from a free-kick on nine minutes before former Fox Robbie Savage was booked for a foul on Max Gradel a minute later.

It was then Gradel's turn to shoot high and wide in the 11th minute after some neat work by captain for the evening Steve Howard.

Patrick Kisnorbo was then booked for a foul on loanee Johnson on 14 minutes before Sullivan had to back peddle to gather Colin Hawkins' header with Fryatt ready to pounce.

Howard shot over the bar after some impressive wing play by Fryatt in the 17th minute before the former Luton man had a goal disallowed for offside three minutes later - his fifth chalked off effort of the campaign.

He rose highest to head home Gradel's pin-point cross from the right off the underside of the bar but the referee's assistant dampened his celebrations with a raised flag.

Johnson again put his long range shot over the bar on 24 minutes after some neat build-up play by the hosts.

The Foxes almost took the lead on 32 minutes but following a goalmouth scramble involving Fryatt, Lloyd Dyer and Howard, Sullivan was just able to drop on the ball to divert the danger.

However, the visitors did take the lead in the 34th minute when Gradel's cross was only half cleared by skipper Steven Thomson and Fryatt was on hand to steer the ball home from close range for the opener.

A last ditch tackle from Aleksandar Tunchev thwarted Adam Virgo on 40 minutes then from the resulting corner, Virgo's shot was blocked on the line by a melee of Foxes defenders.

But the visitors doubled their lead a minute later thanks to Fryatt's second of the game.

Howard flicked on Dave Martin's clearance, freeing Dyer whose deep cross found Gradel at the back post before the winger fired the ball back across goal and Fryatt did the rest much to the travelling Blue Army's delight.

Andy King almost made it three in injury time but Sullivan parried his driven shot for another Foxes corner. Matt Richards was then booked for dissent.

However, City could be more than pleased with their first half work as they went into half-time two goals to the good.

Brighton made two changes at the start of the second half with Savage and McLeod making way for Kevin Thornton and Dean Cox.

Fryatt's shot was blocked by Tommy Elphick on 47 minutes before Kisnorbo headed inches over from Dyer's dangerous corner moments later.

Andrew Whing headed over the City bar in the 53rd minute from Cox's corner before referee Keith Hill somehow waved away City penalty protests on 58 minutes when it seemed as though Fryatt had been clearly been brought down by Sullivan inside the box.

However, the home side reduced the deficit in the 59th minute when debutant Johnson netted from long range after the ball had taken a wicked deflection off Kisnorbo, leaving Martin with no chance.

Howard was booked for a foul on Cox on 62 minutes before Gradel's shot was blocked by Whing in the 68th minute for a flag-kick.

Martin got down well to deny Virgo two minutes later whilst at the opposite end, Howard's turn and shot was saved by Sullivan on 73 minutes.

Brighton continued to up the anti in search of an equaliser and Cox shot over before Joe Anyinsah tried his luck from distance but as Martin raced out, the winger could not

keep his lob down and the ball bounced out for a goal-kick.

Bruno Berner was the third City player cautioned on 80 minutes as was Elphick for retaliation.

Fryatt was at it again as the minutes ticked away but saw his shot fly inches over the bar from the right hand angle.

But Johnson levelled matters six minutes from time with another thunderbolt from distance, which left Martin with little chance.

Nicky Adams replaced Gradel on 86 minutes but it went from bad to worse for City late on when Jack Hobbs turned the ball into his own net from Anyinsah's cross two minutes from time.

King looked to draw his side level in stoppage time but it was not to be and City disappointingly fell to their first away league defeat of the campaign.

City: Martin, Hobbs, Kisnorbo, Tunchev, Powell, Gradel (Adams 86), King A, Berner, Dyer, Howard ©, Fryatt. Subs not used: Henderson, Morrison, Hayles, Mattock.

Albion: Sullivan, Whing, Thomson ©, McLeod (Cox 45), Richards, Hawkins, Virgo, Elphick, Johnson, Anyinsah, Savage (Thornton 45). Subs not used: El-Abd, Livermore, Fraser.

Yellow Cards

Albion: Savage (10), Richards (45), Elphick (80)

I don't agree with the radio presenters saying that it's extremely hard to stop a 25-30 yard strike at goal. Can't agree with it.

Shouldn't be allowing the space in midfield to produce that kind of shot in the first place.

Central midfield. Close down. Get in there. We don't have a central midfield that can do this. Haven't for years.

The irony is that most of the knee-jerkers in this thread were the ones lambasting those who criticised the team after Saturday.

I'm not knee-jerk, I'll calm down, I'm just pissed off that we've lost a 2-0 lead. It doesn't make us a bad team all of a sudden.

Not a good result - to say the least.

I find it hard to believe that many so called fans on here are blasting individul players based on a radio commentary!

I would rather wait for the autopsy to happen from those who were actually there.

To the knee-jerk crew - IT IS OCTOBER.

It was Brighton, a pretty shit team.

Tag on the two pretty shit teams that we dropped four points to and I'm wondering when it is mutually acceptable to start being pissed off with this run of crap form?

If we were losing while playing brilliant football I wouldn't be pissed off - but we are playing shit (not having seen tonight).

When can I get really pissed with the team and Pearson? November? February?

Someone give me a date so I know when to start.

Now we're sixth I guess that means we're in our lowest position in the football league ever (discounting after two games this season, which barely counts)

We know we'll lose the odd game, but perhaps this hideous fact goes some way to explaining why it feels so bad supporting City tonight.

We've never been lower

We are in a sh*t league and can't even hold a two goal lead against a very average side in this league!

I hope you're not referring to me.

No mate, no one in particular, just a shot in the dark. After just 3 pages there is so much abuse for the team in this thread and I'm guessing that some of the most critical posters tonight attacked Saturday's negativity of which there were plenty.

A win on Saturday and it's all forgotten.

I am still a very angry man.

You just have to make the changes to improve on the performance and then just move on. Forget the result.

As has been said, it is only October and if we now move on and win a couple, no one will care about the crap result on 28th October.

HAVE to learn lessons though.

NP clearly didn't fancy an interview then <_<

TBF to him, How many times (Even after a win) do RL get an interview before they go off air after a night match?

I'm inclined to agree. Will be interesting to see what happens on saturday.

We seem to have a real problem in the centre mid position, need some real steel in there.

I'm just simply AMAZED.

Commentators kept going on about poor distribution from the defence....a Kisnorbo trait maybe. Not a prob when Morrison was in.

ps. Martin clearly is not cutting it at this level.......which speaks for itself.

:@ :@ :@ :@

I've no idea how individuals played but King was playing his fourth full game in two weeks and I hardly heard Berner mentioned at all. Brighton, meanwhile, brought on fresh legs but we didn't have a single specialist central midfielder to call on because Porter doesn't seem to count, Kishishev seems to have disappeared from the scene just as emphatically as Porter, Weso is injured and we don't have anyone else. Having no cover seems ridiculous to me.

I hope :fc: that this is our difficult spell and we'll come through it stronger. I say hope though.

What annoys me is that Leeds have lost four matches and are still above us. We had a perfect chance to pull in close to S****horpe and we didn't take it.

One of them was me. One of my main points was that we hadn't lost. But tonight, not only did we lose, but we lost a 2 goal lead and it sounded like we totally surrendered.

Absolutely unacceptable. I'm going on Saturday and not only do I expect to see us win, but win well. Hopefully, this defeat will be a kick up the backside.

Good post, Trying to keep positive.

However "HAVE to learn lessons though" that really is the worrying part, Hopefully this season will be different but over the past years of shite shouldn't we have learnt lessons? Have we?

There is where the worry comes from.
