Stevosevic Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 May be a stupid question but has this been started yet? And when will it be finished? Looks quite impressive. http://www.westbridgeliving.co.uk/

Sparky Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 In the TV programme about building Britain they reckon from the top of that 39 story hotel you can see Skegness on a clear day

dandannieldanok Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 In the TV programme about building Britain they reckon from the top of that 39 story hotel you can see Skegness on a clar day Think I'd be tempted to throw myself off the top if I saw Skegness.

davieG Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 May be a stupid question but has this been started yet? And when will it be finished? Looks quite impressive.http://www.westbridgeliving.co.uk/ No they haven't started, they're just clearing the land.
Stevosevic Posted 31 October 2008 Author Posted 31 October 2008 No they haven't started, they're just clearing the land. Cheers DavieG. Leicester could be quite a lot different in the next 5-10 years, with this, the new shires, development of Welford Road etc... Exciting for the city IMO.
shen Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 In the TV programme about building Britain they reckon from the top of that 39 story hotel you can see Skegness on a clear day So no chance of that ever happening!!
Fox You Forest Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 I'm sure i could find a better view with a telescope.
Lillehamring Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 No they haven't started, they're just clearing the land. am i right in thinking they are just going to build the two smaller ones first and then start on the tall one - which, knowing leicester, means that they'll build the two ordinary ones and then cancel the interesting one, making some shitty excuse, and building some crummy block of flats instead... <_<

Dr The Singh Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 that sounds more like it.grantham have some lovely plans for the future of the town, but you know it'll just end up them shutting a few road, making the traffic even worse and a few identikit municipal buildings going up. It's gonna be like those flats near the holiday inn, EMPTY!!!! Who is gonna pay premuim prices to live in the city, there is no industry there except retail????

As they're being built in an entirely inappropriate place I can't really get worked up about them. These things should be being built near the station in the so called business quarter not dwarfing the canal because that's presumably where the people that can afford them will be working. It would also take some attention away from the hand painted blue tower. But Leicester are so good at building things in the wrong place, the theatre Curve down some back street with no public transport links any where near, a bus station no where remotely near the railway station, an out of town City swimming pool.
Phube Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Ooooh, moore city centre flats appartments to go unoccupied... nice!

Yeah where the hell is the Cuurve? I have no idea... and I live here!?!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Yeah where the hell is the Cuurve? I have no idea... and I live here!?! Opposite the old Odeon (think it's called Athena now and is used a corporate events and crap comedians venue) and next to Rutland St multi-storey car park.
Phube Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Opposite the old Odeon (think it's called Athena now and is used a corporate events and crap comedians venue) and next to Rutland St multi-storey car park. I was always a Canon man (boy) myself! Not been that way since the Odeon shut!
davieG Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Opposite the old Odeon (think it's called Athena now and is used a corporate events and crap comedians venue) and next to Rutland St multi-storey car park. It's hard to tell which is the Theatre and which is the car park.
davieG Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Yeah where the hell is the Cuurve? I have no idea... and I live here!?! By the way it's not the Curve just Curve as in: "Yeah where the hell is Curve? I have no idea... and I live here!?!"
hairy Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 We should always be suspicious of artist impressions of buildings that show a building at night. It can only mean they look worse during the day. We had a thread about this last year.
Phube Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 By the way it's not the Curve just Curve as in:"Yeah where the hell is Curve? I have no idea... and I live here!?!" Well that's gay!
Lillehamring Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 I was always a Canon man (boy) myself! Not been that way since the Odeon shut! that's been bulldozed - no one wanted to use the existing premises, so they decided to reuse the site as...um, a road...leaving all those beautiful buildings either side
