Bazaldo Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 All the Falklands had was a few sheep and some rocks fellaThe reason was the Argentine goverment (Galtiari) was losing the confidence of its people, and thought that by invading the Falklands (hundreds of year old dispute between us and the Argies)it would get the people back on its side......they failed Ulster was part religion part nationality And fisheries, it was a case of rule Britannia. Showing the world we aren't gonna be pushed aside. Good old maggie!!! That'll get em stirring

Daggers Posted 20 November 2008 Author Posted 20 November 2008 I swear this used to be a thread marking the deaths of the victims of a bombing campaign during a mad conflict.
Bazaldo Posted 20 November 2008 Posted 20 November 2008 I swear this used to be a thread marking the deaths of the victims of a bombing campaign during a mad conflict. So did i. So in rememberance of the innocent victims of the brummy killings and all others i say the bombers are scum. No surrender
Alexikokopops Posted 21 November 2008 Posted 21 November 2008 Please, can we turn this thread back onto remembering the innocent victims of brutal attack rather than going on about how big Britain's collective balls are while interspersing posts with "NO SURRENDER" and the like? Ta very much like. Like Daggers said, what a ridiculous conflict, so many shattered lives. A guy who did my course last year is Northern Irish and lost his father to it.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 November 2008 Posted 21 November 2008 1974 was a bad year, many innocent people lost there lives, unfortunately man kind has learned little from it's past, still innocent's are being killed in the name of money, land, power, religion and just because they can!!!

Good point, i do know Neil Lennons sisters and have stayed in Northern Ireland a few times and the sh*t Neil used to get for being the Catholic side and playing for Northern Ireland was unbelievable. Lots of innocent lives lost on both sides. It'll take a few generations over there before it'll be diluted totally though.
Finnegan Posted 21 November 2008 Posted 21 November 2008 Dirty IRA scum. I never understood the IRA, what did they beleive in etc... ?Sorry if I seem ignorant. Thats ok, they believed in murdering and slaughtering innocent people The IRA believe in a united Ireland and that the British presence isn't wanted there. Can't be arsed to go into it and the history of it all but put irish republican army into wiki and it'll give you a bit about them, various links from that and you can educate yourself. Its a good read. Oh and they were Britains enemy for any sympathisers But just be careful what you do actually educate yourself with. Don't make the same mistake countless ignorant bigots the nation over do and confuse the Irish Republican Army of the Easter Rising in 1916; a force that fought for the well earned freedom of their nation; with the "Provisional IRA" of the modern 'Troubles.' The latter, along with the UVF, UDA and others are responsible for the tragic loss of countless lives to a constant political stalemate brewed by cultural and religious intolerance - in Ireland and abroad. This is another truly awful example of human hate and should never be forgotten for the hurt that violent protest can bring. Fair play, Daggers.
Head Honcho Posted 21 November 2008 Posted 21 November 2008 Doesn't have any oil at all does it? I read a while back that they've found an estimated 6 billion barrels of oil around The Falklands and at £30 a barrel that's some find.
hairy Posted 21 November 2008 Posted 21 November 2008 And fisheries, it was a case of rule Britannia. Showing the world we aren't gonna be pushed aside. It was a good distraction away from the economy at the time too and a chance to show patriotism. The sinking of the General Belgrano killing 323 outside the official exclusion zone on instruction of the Iron Lady herself should never rest easy with our nation

This is another truly awful example of human hate and should never be forgotten for the hurt that violent protest can bring. Fair play, Daggers. Good point. Some of the worst attrocities in history have been done by Britain and her allies. Consider what Cromwell did in Ireland (slaughtered innocents in their 1000s), British in the Boer War (where "we" invented the concentration camp) and of course Britain was involved in the development of the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And of course what Hairy mentioned previously. Having said that, tit-for-tat reprisals for decades (which is what Sosban means with the UVF and UDA, I assume) just keeps the pot simmering when if it were just left, get on with your lives and they could have had peace (as we see today - at least in most parts of Ireland (I'm sure there must still be pockets. Humans can be very stupid!))

Finnegan Posted 21 November 2008 Posted 21 November 2008 And fisheries, it was a case of rule Britannia. Showing the world we aren't gonna be pushed aside. I do find that attitude slightly ironic given that, if England hadn't decided to push half the world aside itself, they wouldn't have to be sit pretending to be hard-done-to, underdog victims when the Little Guys turn around and decide enough's enough.
