20mj08 Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 Derby County have signed Charlton striker Luke Varney on an emergency loan until 1 January. The 26-year-old will then become a permanent Rams player on a three-and-a-half year contract worth up to £1.5m. Varney told BBC Radio Derby: "It's a massive move for me and I'm completely delighted to be honest." Leicester-born Varney, who moved to the Valley from Crewe in 2007, has played 19 times for the Addicks this season and scored two goals. He added: "I've always been quite attracted to Derby being from this sort of area. "I'm delighted to be at such a big club with such a big history." Rams defender Jay McEveley has gone the opposite way up the M1 on a loan deal with Charlton until 27 February. dissapointed in you varney
dandannieldanok Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I doubt he really means it, he's hardly going to say "I don't like Derby" on his arrival.
Simi Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I doubt he really means it, he's hardly going to say "I don't like Derby" on his arrival. Could have just said nothing? Who cares if he means it anyway.
Fosse Boy Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I doubt he really means it, he's hardly going to say "I don't like Derby" on his arrival. Exactly, does anyone know if he is a City fan out of interest?
Sods Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 Exactly, does anyone know if he is a City fan out of interest? Apperently a life long fan. But you would never hear me saying that! Twat anyway!
Corky Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 In a funny kind of way, being a Leicester fan and all that, I don't get attracted to Derby. Quite strange.
Tevez Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I'm mates with Varney, he lives down the road from me sound as anything. Good luck to the lad.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I'm not too fussed. Not even worth a topic. Don't rate him anyway.
Tevez Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I'm not too fussed. Not even worth a topic. Don't rate him anyway. Why comment then?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I'd snap Varney up for certain at League One level, he's a proven finisher with a humble background. Not too sure if he's Championship promotion-pushing material though.
Lamby Posted 27 November 2008 Posted 27 November 2008 I'm mates with Varney, he lives down the road from me sound as anything. Good luck to the lad. Tell him that he couldnt hit in a brothel, and also that Lamby can do better than he is

Father Ted Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 Good luck to him but not to Derby. Leicester fan?? MY ARSE!
Kilworthfox Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 He is a Leicester Fan, he was released by LCFC when he was a teenager. He used to be a ST holder. I believe that LD3 knows him or his family very well, but I will let him tell you about that (I may be way off the mark, but i remember a conversation a few yrs ago about him with LD3). If you read the quote he is attracted by their location, I believe he comes from near Loughborough / Coalville way. Also of he was a fan would he not have said so when signing on loan for them? I am sure if he was to sign for Leicester he would have said he was a LCFC fan, however if you were to sign for Derby would you say you were a LCFC fan?
Lamby Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 Name some....... Name what? Well Kelly Youga comes on the forum, Chris Dickson does, loads of them do, but they dont post

Might have been Tevez.
Kilworthfox Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 Don't think that was me mate. Might have been Tevez. No I don't speak to Larry let downs
Brother Reynard Posted 28 November 2008 Posted 28 November 2008 Well said KilworthFox, agree with everything there mate. From what I know he was released from LCFC as a youngster(13 or 14ish) for giggling and mucking about in a training session(and yes, I have my sources). This is how he ended up playing at Quorn FC before being snapped up by Dario Gradi after watching the lad in a pre-season match. Still, he's at Derby now...
