Flynny Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Up for breakfast/morning lecture for the first time in 3 weeks, possibly more. Hooray!
James. Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I was in a fully catered hall of residence at Reading and I think in the entire first year I can't have gone to breakfast more than 10 times and most of them would have been only because I was still up from the night before. Flynny, well done sir. It seems you are adjusting to student life with ease.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I only ever went to breakfast on exam days.
The People's Hero Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I only ever went to breakfast on exam days. Me too. It was always full on exam days and empty otherwise (apparently).

It seems you are adjusting to student life with ease. Ditto. I had "Statistical Computing" at 9am on a Tuesday in my first term at Uni, after Top Banana on the Monday night. That was a write off right there. Ah, I miss those days of staying in bed if you felt hungover
Guest Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 It would be pretty good going for us part-time students to miss a lecture because we'd overslept; ours don't start until 6pm!!

Katy Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I'm a crap student, I have to get up at 615 on a Monday and Tuesday to get to Uni. I didn't get in until 2am this morning though, I rock
Finnegan Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Full catered halls? You fucking snobs. I was in a converted young offender's home, no word of a lie.
Alexikokopops Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Full catered halls? You fucking snobs.I was in a converted young offender's home, no word of a lie. I didn't chose to be! I applied to the dirt cheap dirty halls but they fucked up my application and didn't give me anywhere until I rang them up a week before I left. Hence I got the full catered halls about 10 minutes walk from main campus that no one wanted. Fucks sake.
James. Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Full catered halls? You fucking snobs.I was in a converted young offender's home, no word of a lie. Snobs! Hahahahaha. If you tasted the food or saw the state of the "chefs" you wouldn't be calling me a snob, that's for sure. If we ate the food and didn't vomit immediately after then we would consider the meal a success. This isn't a joke.
Flynny Posted 4 December 2008 Author Posted 4 December 2008 I'm in catered yeah, costs 126 quid a week which is fooking mental. I neglected to mention that not only was this my first breakfast and morning lecture, but first actual lecture in 3 and a bit weeks. I'm a little bit bollocksed. On Saturdays they've given up with breakfast entirely now and there's a combined brunch running from 10am to 1. Setting breakfast for 8.15am on a Saturday morning was ambitious at best.
Bryn Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Been to breakfast twice so far Keep missing evening meal as well. Don't mind being catered though, mealtimes are good crack.
Benji Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 I'm in catered yeah, costs 126 quid a week which is fooking mental. Must be London...?
General Smuts Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Paid 76 quid a week in London. Oh yeah. Yeah but you went to uni in the 90s. Your old man, you remember Britpop.
Alexikokopops Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Must be London...? He's in Bristol. I paid £90 a week for catered in my first year. I wanted to be in the non-catered £55 a week number
Flynny Posted 5 December 2008 Author Posted 5 December 2008 If I was paying 90 quid a week my grant/loan/various bursaries would be looking pretty generous.
Flynny Posted 5 December 2008 Author Posted 5 December 2008 It's horrifically patchy whilst being just expensive enough to leave me with enough money to skint myself by buying different food whenever it's crap.

Our routine was to eat the muck they served for dinner and then about an hour later after the sickness had died down order takeaway pizza.
Flynny Posted 5 December 2008 Author Posted 5 December 2008 Yeah i do a lot of that. Tonight I'm washing it down with a litre of chocolate milk and a 6-pack of salt and vinegar crisps.

How you enjoying Bristol then? I get the impression from the Facebook photos that have popped up in my mini-feed recently that you're having something of a stonker...
