Nath. Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Can you see another Megson like situation coming up now Sunderland have a vacant managerial position... I know its a long shot, and not even a rumour, but if they did come in for Pearson, Do you think he'd go? Discuss.

I know its a long shot, and not even a rumour, but if they did come in for Pearson, Do you think he'd go?Discuss. They won't go for him. If they did, he would be tempted, but he seems like a loyal bloke, so you never know. They'll want someone much more high-profile.

Nath. Posted 4 December 2008 Author Posted 4 December 2008 Yes, but wouldnt you have said that about Megson? Why would Bolton want him?
Scow Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Yes, but wouldnt you have said that about Megson? Why would Bolton want him? He likes the hoof.
He's not bald Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Yes, but wouldnt you have said that about Megson? Why would Bolton want him? Because he's been there done that, what's Pearson done Hey don't get me wrong if Sunderland are willing to stump up the dosh I'm confident we could still attract another name to guide us back to the second division but it won't happen...believe!
Ozwin Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Curbishly or Allardye must be favourites. I bet you'd get good odds on Pearson.
Lovejoy Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Sunderland are too high profile to appoint a L1 manager.
Monk Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Absolutely No Danger that Sunderland have even HEARD of Big Nige. They have money, they will buy experience.
wirralsimon Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 The only reason that they would go for Nigel is if they get turned down by the bigger names like Allardyce, O'leary etc. but they won't be short of applicants. They have money, the club appears tobe well run, they have many loyal supporters and because the prem is so tight this year they are only 2-3 wins away from sitting securely in Mid Table. They are not a crisis club that potential managers will be wary of. Simon
Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Because he's been there done that, what's Pearson done Hey don't get me wrong if Sunderland are willing to stump up the dosh I'm confident we could still attract another name to guide us back to the second division but it won't happen...believe! I'm not...not like what we've got anyway!! I did think about Pearson and Sunderland for about one minute yesterday. Then I wrote him off. Anyway, Big Sam has practically begged Sunderland for the job. There are many higher profile managers around for them to come sniffing around L1 Totally agree with WirralSimon above
Pegosteve Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 They would be better off with Hollowhead! Him and Nial Quinn, Little & Large!
Fatbloke Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Was a simple enough question from Nath, he did say it was very very unlikely as indeed it is, no real need to re itorate that, so the simple answer to the question, for me, Joe Royale, Thank you.

Cross between Joe Royle and a Chicken Royale? What is Joe Royle up to these days anyway?
Fatbloke Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Knew the bluddy spelling did`nt look right, kept deleting the e and putting it back and all the time it was the a dunno where Joe is working at the mo.
Ultra Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 sunderland will surely go for big sam! ...and Allardyce had Pearson as his assistant at Newcastle. I don't think Nigel would want to revert to being an assistant again, though.. And he hasn't got enough managerial experience to land the job in his own right.
Alf Bentley Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Just occurs to me that of the 14 players on the pitch today, no fewer than 10 were brought in by Pearson. Only 4 in the side 6 months ago: Fryatt, Howard, Oakley & King. I know they've come down a division and are well resourced at this level, but that still looks like some good rebuilding job (so far)
Matt Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Yes, but wouldnt you have said that about Megson? Why would Bolton want him? For a start the majority of fans didn't want Megson anyway, Alot were starting anti-Megson chants, Megson Out, Particularly v Sheff Utd (His last game) he did the right thing (Although a pretty shitty thing - i.e - Mandaric gave him a chance back into football to throw it back in his face) when he realized Bolton were interested in him and said he wanted to leave and did. Similar to the Fryatt situation (Although alot of people have stopped slagging Fryatt off in recent weeks) but why stay where your not wanted/loved. That is what Megson did, and fair play. (Except Fryatt is wanted now, but I fear the damage has been done)
Ultra Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Megson wanted out weeks before he left us. The evidence was there in his last two games. In contrast, Fryatt is in the form of his career, under a manager who clearly rates him. There's no guarantee he'd get that anywhere else.
Ozwin Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 He bear hugged him from the sounds of things when he was subbed off today. That's love.
