AoWW Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 I'm gonna be up in Leicester for several days from Boxing Day onwards and am just after suggestions of the most decent places to go. When I come up I always seem to end up in the same places... just fancied trying somewhere different. So... places for us to eat, pubs, bars. clubs (probably sorted, will no doubt end up in the Fan Club) - oh, and I'll probably be checking out Highcross on my own on the Saturday (yes, it's gonna be heaving... I'll hate it, get cross with the whole world, etc, etc) so anywhere close by I can escape to from the sales frenzy? Oh, and perhaps any nice pubs outside of the city for Sunday lunch....
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 Terracota. Is that seriously a name of a club
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 Restaurant. The best damn restaurant in the world.
Fosse Boy Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 Bit of a way out I know, but for a Sunday carvery you can't beat The Shires at Peatling Parva.
Fox You Forest Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 The Stamford and Warrington in Coalville.

Floating Fox Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 The Stamford and Warrington in Coalville. * - This is one of those where the emoticon is actually deserved.
Tilley Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Terracott - Walkabout - Fan Club - Sophbeck. In that order, you have a great night, guarenteed.
Ric Flair Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Terracota. Decent food but they have caused me two problems in the past. 1) Massive bout of the shits. 2) Surely not a coincidence that several hours after I went there, my card was used to buy a shit load of goods in China. So by all means lap it up, but only take cash with you and a massive fooking nappy.
Tilley Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 2) Surely not a coincidence that several hours after I went there, my card was used to buy a shit load of goods in China. This is a joke, surely?
Tilley Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 No joke my friend. 'Kinell, you must have been fuming mate. I am paying by cash in future!
Phube Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 The Highcross has: Yo! Sushi!! The Handmade Burger Co. Carluccio's A Tapas Place Mem Saab (Indian) Nando's Chinese Buffet Wagamama Oh, and Terracotta is round the corner!
Ric Flair Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 'Kinell, you must have been fuming mate.I am paying by cash in future! Luckily, my credit card rings me each time a suspicious transaction is made so it didn't go through. It was quite obvious where this has originated from though.

Ultra Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 A few decent ale houses to check out, if you haven't done so already. The Criterion (also does excellent pizzas) Out Of The Vaults The Ale Wagon The High Cross and last but not least, Lloyds No. 1 in the Market. You never know who you might find in there!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 Went to the Wagamama's (sp) place earlier. Very nice.
Samilktray Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 The new Chinese buffet place in the new Shires is pretty darn poor.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 December 2008 Posted 15 December 2008 The new Chinese buffet place in the new Shires is pretty darn poor. We've already established that there's only one Chinese buffet place in town.
