Always thought of joining the police force went to info sessions etc. Also looked at the Fedrial Police as well but it was few years ago as got told i was not necessarily too young but they prefer people to have had life experience.

Best part about the police force is the 9 weeks annual leave :thumbup:

Well, 'til the closing date for applications. It really is some form, it's like a book! Then there's all these mini-forms that need doing too :huh:

What's the difference between a special constable and a police constable?

police constables can do alot more i.e. they can arrest people and detain them with force

specials cant do as much

Specials have full Police powers (although unlike regular police officers, they can only use these powers in their designated region), they are basically voluntary Police officers.

I have a few books that may help you if you're interested...I'll do them for postage only unless you fancy picking them up from me from a pub pre-match.

There's:

  • Passing the Police Recruitment Assessment Process
  • How To Pass The New Police Selection System
  • Blackstone's Preparing For Police Duty, and
  • The Police Training Manual

There's a member or two on FT who may be able to help but I'll let them contact you as some people can be a bit rude to the police. I'll drop them a PM to see if they can give you any advice :thumbup:

Without weighing them and looking on the Post Office website I wouldn't have a clue...but I can't get to a Post Office until the school holidays anyway - so if you are going on Saturday then that might be a good chance to hand them over for free and gratis.

I'd strongly recommend reading the following book, you can't refer to it during the application process but it will give you the best insight into the daily workings of being a copper than anything else. Plus, it is very, very funny.
