Just wanted to know if anyone else has done so and has any advice or tips with the competency questions (I'm really struggling to think of situations that are relevant) in the application form, or anything else regarding the application process? If you aren't lucky you have to wait 6 months I believe to reapply. Alternatively, become a PCSO. Yopu don't even have to get wet to save drowning children. Cnuts.

Tah. Go for it. My mates a Sgt in the Leics Force. He loves it. Gotta be relatively fit to get thro the training and as long as you aint thick as shit you should be fine. Just say the right things(Best not ask Thracian for help!) Good luck

Then, during the interview, they will try and get you to change your mind about it (don't!!) if you don't it shows you stick to what you think is right and would make a good police officer but if you change your mind then it shows you're quite passive and would be persuaded by criminals or summat Here's a great site http://www.policecouldyou.co.uk/

Tah. so am i, when i pass my driving test, go for the community support officer first, you will have a better chance of getting in, and you will only be there for 2 years or so, alot of police officers say its the best thing to do

One for taking a prescribed inhaler for asmatha and the other missed out by 1% on the written test, the last stage before a poxy interview that it's very hard to fail due the lengthy stages you have already conducted and passed previous to that. You don't need to be that fit to pass the fitness, my brother isn't. The initial application you need to just express yourself in a positive manner. It's the role play situations where you need to make sure you are on top of your game with diversity and equality. The literacy and numeracy tests shouldn't be a problem for most, but my brother is dyslexic and he always panics with things like that. Annoying as he's clever and to miss out by 1% is very harsh on him. There's also another stage along with the role play bit, which is quite tough but you are best to try and speak to someone who has recently joined the force for some tips etc.

morris1234 Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 i applied about 2 years ago mate.spent 3 weeks of my life getting that application right.have you been to the recruitment seminars?(im guessing thats where you got the application form)they are a lot of help but the form is there to test how much you want it, aswell as the actual content.A lot of police officers i know didnt get it right first time and again this is to see if you really want it.It was recommended to me that joining the specials was good experience and was looked on favourably too. I would ask family members/friends if they can help think of situations that have occured as my memory is crap but i did have alot of experiences i could write about when people reminded me.I'll stop rambling now anyway,if you need anything pm me and im sure i have my recruitment pack somewhere still

Tah. Just tell em you've got a string of girlfriends. If past form is anything to go by they'll be impressed with your ability to mix with people and you'll be heading for the top.

Craig Posted 16 December 2008 Author Posted 16 December 2008 Thanks to those that have replied, i've taken all the comments on board. I've also got an application form here for becomming special constable, which i think i'm going to complete first. I still can't think of any situations relevant to the competency questions in the police constable application form, so i'm hoping that by becomming a special i can gain the experience required to complete this section properly. I've got a year to complete the form, and i've got almost 40 years ahead of me should i want a career in the police, so there's no point rushing it
