yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 Sorry about the " We " reference if it irked you but how else is an opposition fan supposed to defend himself or his club in a rival's message board ? further you say Leeds will win it Where did I say that ? Kindly point out. a) What makes you think you're going to sign more players in the January window with the money that you don't have? b) Are you the manager??? c) Even if you found the right balance it wouldn't guarantee at all that you'd beat us! a) Because we have money to spend according to our Chairman and we have already made 3 enquiries and closed in on the deals under Macca. It's just a question of whether Simon wants those targets of Macca or not. b) No. Stupid Question ? c) I didn't guarantee us to beat you did I ? Why do you keep misquoting me ? I only said that I would be confident of getting a result at your place while I'm hopeless bout the game on Friday. I didn't mean to start any mine is bigger than yours argument here , so if at all some of you misunderstood my approach , then I apologize. I always felt that in terms of a squad , Leeds n Leicester had the best ones in this league , so I can't really OBJECTIVELY say which one's better . Obviously , results wise , yours seem better for now. I gave you that ages ago
Daggers Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 I can't really OBJECTIVELY say which one's better Soon to be resolved
Maybes Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Could be some serious egg on face situations if Leeds beat us, which I can see happening. Having said that we will still be looking down on 23 teams come 5pm on boxing day.
yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 THAT WAS LAST YEAR!!! No offense but I'm amazed by the naivety in your reply. Before thinking of a dig , go read the context of that post. I said Robinson was league 1 best player according to most of the managers for the last 2 years and therefore , when we added him to our squad at the end of last season after he won promotion with Swansea, it definitely meant that we bettered ourselves. He was their player of the season as well. So what exactly is funny in this for you ? Geez !! And your point being...??? You telling us anything new??? You tell me that ! I was laughed at calling Enoch a quality striker for this level , so I explained how Enoch would start in most of the other clubs in league 1 and score for fun just like how Dj Campbell probably would. Conclusion : Stop concluding , this is just some good football banter and we are not on Big Brother !
Koke Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 It's vital that they win on Friday. We can afford to lose. So the pressure is on them.
Brainy Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 We've won the last two Boxing Day games havent we?
Koke Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 We've won the last two Boxing Day games havent we? Last year we beat Ipswich. I don't know about the year before though.
yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 Soon to be resolved So if you guys lose on Boxing Day , does it mean that all of you objectively agree that Leeds has a better squad ? ... Just kidding It's vital that they win on Friday. We can afford to lose. So the pressure is on them. But you are expected to thrash us because we ve been horrible at the back in the last 2 months. It's too early to expect anything out of Simon and so, I think the pressure is as much on Leicester to put on a show as the leaders of League 1 as it is on Leeds' players to impress their new manager in one of the biggest games of the season.
Brainy Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Last year we beat Ipswich. I don't know about the year before though. Beat Hull 2-1 at the KC I think. I remember members moaning that we never win on Boxing Day, doesn't seem like that was over two years ago though.
Bryn Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Could be some serious egg on face situations if Leeds beat us, which I can see happening. S'why I wish people would be a little more gracious, the satisfaction comes if we win.
MC Prussian Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Where did I say that ? Kindly point out....I'd still take our squad over yours... a) What makes you think you're going to sign more players in the January window with the money that you don't have? b) Are you the manager??? c) Even if you found the right balance it wouldn't guarantee at all that you'd beat us! a) Because we have money to spend according to our Chairman and we have already made 3 enquiries and closed in on the deals under Macca. It's just a question of whether Simon wants those targets of Macca or not. Your chairman is Ken Bates and I'd be cautious as to what to believe... b) No. Stupid Question ? Nope. But stupid assumption in the first place. c) I didn't guarantee us to beat you did I ? Why do you keep misquoting me ? I only said that I would be confident of getting a result at your place while I'm hopeless bout the game on Friday. I didn't misquote you, I simply said Even if you found the right balance it wouldn't guarantee at all that you'd beat us! And that's all! I gave you that ages ago You're stating the obvious with our team being on top of the league because we've won more than Leeds... Again, your point being??? THAT WAS LAST YEAR!!!No offense but I'm amazed by the naivety in your reply. Geez !! You state that 90 percent of the managers considered Robinson to be the best player in League One for the past two years. Yes? Well, ever since you acquired him, what has he done for you??? It proves that 90 percent of the League One managers can be proven wrong. And you calling me naïve without even being able to spell it right shows me how naïve you are yourself. And I don't think your post to be funny. It's laughable. I don't conclude, I just love to dissect your weak argumentation. Other than that, welcome on Foxestalk.
yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 @ Alexei - You seem a bit lost and confused with all the quotes n the misquotes. I asked you where I said we'll win this game on Boxing day !! Thanks for stating the obvious about my Chairman. Last January , he bought Peter Sweeney, Lubomir Michalik , Neil Kilkenny , Bradley Johnson ( great buy btw !! ) , Anthony Elding while also funding for the loan deals of Freedman and Sheehan. I think therefore I can trust him when he says they ve made good progress in acquiring new players IF needed. Well, ever since you acquired him, what has he done for you??? It proves that 90 percent of the League One managers can be proven wrong. No , it only proves you aint following Leeds as keenly as you nitpick my argument Ever since he signed for us , he's been one of our better players this season chipping in with vital goals and assists and it's no surprise that our goals and attacking play started drying up after Robinson and Beckford got injured. Anyways , I give it to you , 90% of league 1 managers can be proven wrong over a player they ve seen , played against and scouted for ages ! You are the Man ... !! I don't understand why you brought up an argument over Robinson in the first place !! ...

I don't understand why you brought up an argument over Robinson in the first place !! ... a) When you say "I'd still have our squad over yours", then that doesn't refer to the Friday game (maybe here I am wrong)? b) You trust a chairman with a highly debatable record and fun ways of financing c) Yes, 90 percent of the League One managers can be proven wrong - that is a fact d) YES - I don't follow Leeds as closely as you do, BECAUSE I AM A LEICESTER FAN!!! e) You brought Robinson up, not me, dimwit Apart from the not-so-obvious prediction for the Boxing Day game, now who's lost and confused?
Joe. Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 If you'd have your squad over ours you're a mug I'm afraid. The league table doesn't lie at the moment, and our team's not looked like losing for a while now. Obviously Leeds is going to be a very tough game, but I'm confident your lads are lacking so much confidence that we can exploit a currently shocking defence. Oh, and Tunchev will not let you past. Fact.
Daggers Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 So if you guys lose on Boxing Day , does it mean that all of you objectively agree that Leeds has a better squad ? ... Just kidding No. On the day it will prove who has the best team currently when it comes to a head to head match...the better squad is obviously the one which has consistently performed over the course of the season and responded to a good manager. You had a good manager but the squad shamefully didn't play for him - raising themselves only for teams in higher divisions, something we are all too familiar with over the last two seasons. Potential counts for shit, it's points on the board which matter and it is going to take yet another season to get a promotion side together and performing consistently. As far as the team under the greatest pressure? Again, it is obviously Leeds. Players low on moral, consistently under-performing against a background of failure relying on a single injured player to tie them together, players who do not behave as a team and do not expect to win but feel pressured under the eyes of the new boss to perform. The thing in your favour is the Elland Road crowd who will turn up in numbers and vociferously push the team forward, against you is that this will simply add to the burden on the shoulders of players like Sheehan. Alan Sheehan loses it when the pressure is on - hell he lost it with a member of this forum when the pressure wasn't even on. He'll be leaving the game early. You may grab three points off us but you'll not be getting promoted this season and it will be a blip as we continue to win the League. Arrogance? **** yes, guilty as charged.

And secondly, who was the OFFICIAL League 1 player of the year? Jay Simpson (not a Leeds player in case you didn't know )
foxer Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 I must say, this thread is brilliant. Some of the quoting of quotes of quotes thats going on! I've got a bad feeling about the leeds game. If they still had Gary I reckon we'd be fine, but this recent change will have stirred them up. But i really hope I'm wrong. I go to uni in leeds, but they are a team that i really cant help hating. It annoys me whenever i see someone in the street with a leeds shirt on, especially back home in leicestershire. I just dont see the appeal of being considered a scumbag by all.
Koke Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 I agree Daggers, but you have to remember sometimes big crowds can turn against you as we have seen many times. One too many misplaced passes and the ER crowd could get restless and that will unsettle elite star players such as Alan Sheehan. Our players will be more relaxed and full of confidence after winning 6 games in a row. If we lose to Leeds, we'll just come back and win another 6 on the trot again, no problems. Call it arrogance or over confidence, we couldn't give a shit.

As a rule, the home crowd at ER are almost the opposite to our bunch of feckless ****wit fans. They tend to stay in full support of the team on the pitch for the duration of the game and just bitch and carp in the pubs afterwards - unlike the brain-dead booing which seems to have become de rigeur at other grounds around the country over recent seasons.

Im feeling very confident and as mentioned in the thread I think one of Nigels best qualities will prove to be the difference which is keeping the players firmly on there feet and do a professional job.

Daggers Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 At the end of the day, we only need to walk off with a point for it to be job done, something we are more than capable of. When you factor in the rampant confidence coursing through the squad, our ability to raise the game away from home and our form I can't see anything other than us coming away happy. Our 21 yellows versus their 31 and 3 reds, an easy to wind-up Sheehan and the oft-headless Prutton = non-seasonal cards. We are taking this game. FORM CLEAN SHEETS ATTACKING DEFENDING
SystonFox Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Everyone is getting a rock on over Fabian Delph but what has he actually done in terms of goals and assists? 4 goals and 3 assists in 17 league games is good , but he's no Andy King. well said my man! spot on. LCFC have a better starting 11 than LUFC i dont think there is any doubt about it, Grayson would love to have our squad at his disposal for the game on boxing day but he can't, he's having to make do with a half fit Beckford (who doesn't play cup games .... L O L ....) and a defence thats open more than Katie Price.
