yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 Everyone is getting a rock on over Fabian Delph but what has he actually done in terms of goals and assists? 4 goals and 3 assists in 17 league games is good , but he's no Andy King. I guess thats where the question of believing what you see more than what you read comes to play. It's not just his goals ( all of em were wonder strikes ) or assists but in general , for a 17 yr old his all round game is Premiership level easily. Can you say that about Andy King ? I don't think Delph would look out of place if he is in Arsenal's team right now and surrounded by players with similar technical ability . The kid's ability on the ball is immense , he has got great speed and drive for a central midfielder ( attacks like a winger ) and his tackling is improving with every game . There is a reason why Stuart Pearce immediately picked him up for the U 21's. The kid's going places and the stats sheet won't reflect that. Most of his play will leave us in a sense of awe at times but we are used to it by now. As for Alan Sheehan , apart from being hot headed ( that leads to stupid tackles ) , for league 1 standards , I'd happily take him. I dunno how many of you disagree with that but I think defensively he is strong at this " level " and his sweet left foot is very useful not just from set pieces. It's his attitude off the pitch thats got him into sh*t this season and he has not been able to get some consistency going therefore.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 looking at your team cant see too many that would make it into ours so how do you figure your squad is marginally better? Cos were above you in the table tool
Daggers Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Delph is the only player I'd take from the Leeds team - in fact, seeing as they are poor now, I think we should.
GLC Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 I feel that our squad is marginally better because last season , we finished 2nd in the league ( barring the 15 points ) with a far worse squad. We have not sold anyone vital to our team , we have had 2 future England Internationals coming through in Fabian Delph and Aiden White , we signed League 1's best player for years in Andy Robinson , we picked up a gem in Luciano Bechio ( who has hardly settled down yet ) and in Snodgrass , we signed a young talent who West Brom and Boro were after and he is showing us why with great performances in the last 2 months consistently ! Enoch and Sheehan are top quality players for League 1 standards. Add to all this a fit Malcom Christie who looked sharp in the Cup game and the reserves , he is battling for a contract and wants to prove himself badly. If he does , it will be a great boost for the club. So basically , we just made our squad far better than what Wise had to play with. Why are we still doing poor in terms of results ? Very simple . Its our defending thats costing us dear and when you have players with absolutely no confidence and who don't trust their team mates , you go through such a slump in form. Mcallister and Stan lost the dressing room , so irrespective of how hard he made them work in training , on the pitch there was no belief and unity. So in all the games we lost , we dominate the possession and put in great effort but individual errors at the back cost us dear time and again. Players quite simply stopped believing in Macca's philosophy of playing it nicely and passing it around at all times. They lost the appetite to graft it out , get hurt and put their heads on the line like how we did under Dennis Wise n Poyet. I'm not saying we are a better team than yours . Certainly not as your lot seem far more balanced and competent. I'd still take our squad over yours as IMO we are just few signings away from finding the right balance and the rest is up to Grayson to instill the belief in them and get them performing. If he could make average lower league players in Blackpool compete with the Championship quality , I don't see why he can't convert some of our championship quality players into top league 1 stars. Any of your back 4 would walk into our team at the moment but apart from Dyer , I can't see anybody else getting into our midfield or Up front. Douglas Delph Snodgrass/Bradley Johnson are all Championship class and I think in Bechio and Beckford , we have a Championship quality strike force again. These guys were part of a 2nd string side that thrashed Crystal Palace and outclassed Derby County. I don't think they become bad players over night Hopefully Simon Grayson agrees with me. robinson is nothing compared to tunchev! and i think fryatt will have a few on boxing day, your defence is crap!
Kilworthfox Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Delph is the only player I'd take from the Leeds team - in fact, seeing as they are poor now, I think we should. Or Beckford that's all!

Daggers Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Or Beckford that's all! When he isn't a sick-note.
yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 Future England internationals - well if you can say that we can say that Matty Fryatt and Joe Mattock are future England internationals. Aiden White? Who??? League 1's best player for years in Andy Robinson - he's just a fatter version of Danny Tiatto! Becchio is too inconsistent and Robert Snodgrass is just a total pile of shit. I watched him against Histon and he was rolling around on the floor every 30 seconds for a free-kick. Enoch and Sheehan top quality players And Malcolm Christie Sick-note wouldn't get anywhere near our first-team. If I was to merge ours and your team together it would be: Henderson Gilbert Tunchev Hobbs MattockOakley Davies King DyerHoward Fryatt Did you notice that not even the 'overrated' Beckford isn't in there? I guess this is the arrogance of the top of the table talking and not a sane football fan ! . I totally get that We could probably bet on Delph getting his International call up in about 4-5 years ( depending on when we let him go ) and as for Aiden White , I doubt if you have ever seen him play but that was just a personal prediction of mine . Have you not read the final game's match day programme in league 1 where every manager rates other teams and its players ? Guess not . Almost 90% of the League 1 managers last year voted for Andy Robinson for League 1's best player. I'm sure you know more than them. When you compare him with Tiatto , it says a lot about what you know. Enoch is one of those guys who will score 15 a season easily for an average league 1 side if he starts week in week out . I'd take someone like that as a squad player .Thats why I meant that he is quality for this level , would not take him for the Championship. I'm sure thats the case with Dj Campbell or Dickov if they started every week for some other league 1 club. This is a rubbish league as you must av clearly realized by now. Kandol's not a great player but he's already got 7 or 8 this season for Milwall in 14 starts , would you laugh If I call him quality for this level ? Bechio's anything but inconsistent , he puts in great shift after shift every week. I wonder why you make some really contrasting and comical comments . It's like me telling you that Lloyd Dyer is slow , Max Gradel is blonde and Steve Howard is wafer thin.
yessae Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 Doubt he'll be particularly effective on Boxing Day with your head wedged that firmly up his arse. Good argument .. You will see for yourself on Boxing Day. Our whole team might play shit but this kid will stand out as always
Raj Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Dont think Leeds is THAT big a game for us now. Considering how far behind in the League you are. Even if we lose(which we wont!) it wont really matter in the grand scheme of things. We are where we are. You are where you are. we are Top you aint. We may still be top if we lose. You aint even near. We're in this league for the first time ever and making a REAL go of going up first time. You fcukers have been prancing about in this league for god knows how long!!! Good luck to you though......

Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Good argument .. You will see for yourself on Boxing Day. Our whole team might play shit but this kid will stand out as always League table is the only argument we need. I won't be that bothered if we lose to Leeds as long as we continue putting in 100% effort week in, week out against all opposition because we haven't got some massive superiority complex, the vast majority of us are not interested whether we have the best squad or the best fans or any of that utter shit that gets posted on internet messageboards, we just want to carry on winning every week and get promoted.
Ashley Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Welcome to the forum. Lloyd Dyer Me Lloyd Lloyd Dyer!
daveyboy Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Enoch is one of those guys who will score 15 a season easily for an average league 1 side if he starts week in week out. Enoch = lazy.

Babylon Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 arrogance You should know all about that if you think your squad is better than ours. We just hammered peterborough 4-0 and not starting for one reason or another were people like.... Paul Henderson Patrick Kisnorbo (player of the year 07/08) Michael Morrison Joe Mattock (Young player of the year07/08) Chris Powell Max Gradel Stephen Clemence James Wesolowski Nicky Adams DJ Campbell Paul Dickov That team alone would probably finish in the top 10 of this league!!!!
