Houdini Logic Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Spot on . Couldn't agree more with you .11 vs 11 , Leicester is much ahead of Leeds United at the moment... I only said that as a squad , I feel we are marginally better... I'm not too sure about that, mate. You do realise that our squad consists of players like DJ Campbell and Paul Dickov not even getting in the starting 11?
The Blur Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Knew this thread is going to end in a farce Still go Leicester City for outdebating LUFC
Bryn Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 This debate is so pointless... someone is gonna end up looking very dumb. Let's just wait til we've won Friday night...
MC Prussian Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 This debate is so pointless... someone is gonna end up looking very dumb. Let's just wait til we've won Friday night... It's obvious everytime a rival fan pops up on another messageboard claiming to come "in peace". Waving a white flag already? Laughable.
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 a) When you say "I'd still have our squad over yours", then that doesn't refer to the Friday game (maybe here I am wrong)?b) You trust a chairman with a highly debatable record and fun ways of financing c) Yes, 90 percent of the League One managers can be proven wrong - that is a fact d) YES - I don't follow Leeds as closely as you do, BECAUSE I AM A LEICESTER FAN!!! e) You brought Robinson up, not me, dimwit Apart from the not-so-obvious prediction for the Boxing Day game, now who's lost and confused? a) Yep , you are wrong as I didn't refer to the Boxing Day game. I'd happily swap squads for that game alone b) Irrespective of his reputation , he has backed us up heavily whenever needed , no Leeds fan will deny that. So get your facts right. c) But they aren't wrong on this one , so live in denial. d) No shit !! e) I brought Robinson for a relevant context about how additions like him over the summer have made our squad a lot better but we ve only under performed.
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 If you'd have your squad over ours you're a mug I'm afraid. The league table doesn't lie at the moment, and our team's not looked like losing for a while now. Obviously Leeds is going to be a very tough game, but I'm confident your lads are lacking so much confidence that we can exploit a currently shocking defence.Oh, and Tunchev will not let you past. Fact. Except for the first line , I agree with every word. I'd only take my squad over yours in the long run due to reasons I ve already mentioned. For Boxing day though , lets swap squads happily. Ps: One of my good mates is a ST Holder in Leicester as well as Leeds ( due to family reasons ) and he has not stopped moaning about how good you guys are , especially Tunchev. So your warnings about Tunchev , Dyer etc are not new to me , I'm worried myself
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 No.On the day it will prove who has the best team currently when it comes to a head to head match...the better squad is obviously the one which has consistently performed over the course of the season and responded to a good manager. You had a good manager but the squad shamefully didn't play for him - raising themselves only for teams in higher divisions, something we are all too familiar with over the last two seasons. Potential counts for shit, it's points on the board which matter and it is going to take yet another season to get a promotion side together and performing consistently. As far as the team under the greatest pressure? Again, it is obviously Leeds. Players low on moral, consistently under-performing against a background of failure relying on a single injured player to tie them together, players who do not behave as a team and do not expect to win but feel pressured under the eyes of the new boss to perform. The thing in your favour is the Elland Road crowd who will turn up in numbers and vociferously push the team forward, against you is that this will simply add to the burden on the shoulders of players like Sheehan. Alan Sheehan loses it when the pressure is on - hell he lost it with a member of this forum when the pressure wasn't even on. He'll be leaving the game early. You may grab three points off us but you'll not be getting promoted this season and it will be a blip as we continue to win the League. Arrogance? **** yes, guilty as charged. Phew !! Good rant , makes me look forward to the game even more. The consistency you are talking about is something I hope Grayson will soon achieve from next year onwards. I only disagree about you saying that it will be a blip if we win on Boxing day. You av no clue mate about how badly we need a win right now , it would be morale boosting like hell and with a new manager at our helm , it's the perfect recipe to kick start a good string of results. Grayson in his own words said that in the next 2 games , he has to make some major decisions on some players . Thats going to have 2 effects. Either they buckle under the fact that they are being judged by the manager before the transfer window opens or they just show him his worth at the big stage like Boxing Day and secure their future. Heres hoping it's the latter
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 I'm not too sure about that, mate. You do realise that our squad consists of players like DJ Campbell and Paul Dickov not even getting in the starting 11? Yes I agree mate and we have the same situation in Howson , Bradley Johnson , Kilkenny , Prutton , White , Huntington etc who can't get into our 11. They would all walk into most of the league 1 sides in my opinion but our results suggest otherwise for the moment If he was any good why would he have left Swansea? And secondly, who was the OFFICIAL League 1 player of the year? Jay Simpson (not a Leeds player in case you didn't know ) Because he was a free agent and he clearly could not resist the lure of wearing the white shirt of Leeds United. He joined us even before the playoffs finals , showing his committment irrespective of the league we were in next season. Stop asking stupid questions mate ! http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Late...1255004,00.html Here is the link for Football League awarding Beckford as the player of the year ! But I did read Jay Simpson getting one as well , so I dont know the difference exactly .

Darkzzz_ Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Let's just hope this guy doesn't have the last laugh. I can't see us losing but obviously this game has added spice now Grayson has taken over. Leeds won't go up, It will be a miracle if Grayson gets them promoted this season. I think he will fail. Here's to a great xmas and hopefully a great boxing day. Come on City.
Trumpet Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Merry Xmas everyone - totally forgot !! I feel that our squad is marginally better because last season , we finished 2nd in the league ( barring the 15 points ) with a far worse squad. We have not sold anyone vital to our team , we have had 2 future England Internationals coming through in Fabian Delph and Aiden White , we signed League 1's best player for years in Andy Robinson , we picked up a gem in Luciano Bechio ( who has hardly settled down yet ) and in Snodgrass , we signed a young talent who West Brom and Boro were after and he is showing us why with great performances in the last 2 months consistently ! Enoch and Sheehan are top quality players for League 1 standards. Add to all this a fit Malcom Christie who looked sharp in the Cup game and the reserves , he is battling for a contract and wants to prove himself badly. If he does , it will be a great boost for the club. So basically , we just made our squad far better than what Wise had to play with. Why are we still doing poor in terms of results ? Very simple . Its our defending thats costing us dear and when you have players with absolutely no confidence and who don't trust their team mates , you go through such a slump in form. Mcallister and Stan lost the dressing room , so irrespective of how hard he made them work in training , on the pitch there was no belief and unity. So in all the games we lost , we dominate the possession and put in great effort but individual errors at the back cost us dear time and again. Players quite simply stopped believing in Macca's philosophy of playing it nicely and passing it around at all times. They lost the appetite to graft it out , get hurt and put their heads on the line like how we did under Dennis Wise n Poyet. I'm not saying we are a better team than yours . Certainly not as your lot seem far more balanced and competent. I'd still take our squad over yours as IMO we are just few signings away from finding the right balance and the rest is up to Grayson to instill the belief in them and get them performing. If he could make average lower league players in Blackpool compete with the Championship quality , I don't see why he can't convert some of our championship quality players into top league 1 stars. Any of your back 4 would walk into our team at the moment but apart from Dyer , I can't see anybody else getting into our midfield or Up front. Douglas Delph Snodgrass/Bradley Johnson are all Championship class and I think in Bechio and Beckford , we have a Championship quality strike force again. These guys were part of a 2nd string side that thrashed Crystal Palace and outclassed Derby County. I don't think they become bad players over night Hopefully Simon Grayson agrees with me. The same way you were the champions of Europe (bar the cheating ref?)
wirralsimon Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 I have seen Leeds this season and there is no doubt that both Leeds and Leicester have squads that are good enough for this division. I would say that the main reason for the gap in the league positions is that the Leeds team isn't nearly as good as you would expect given the squad, making Leicester the better team. A new manager and a Home Crowd will make Leeds hard to beat tomorrow. Simon
Babylon Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Yes I agree mate and we have the same situation in Howson , Bradley Johnson , Kilkenny , Prutton , White , Huntington etc who can't get into our 11. Who? If they can't get in a team that's mid table, lost there last 5 games and have sacked their manager... they can't be very good.
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 Our probable starting line up ( if Robinson and Beckford are fit ) , Casper Frazer Marques Assoumani Sheehan Robinson Delph Douglas Snodgrass Bechio Beckford But then again , we are in so much jeopardy and so many players are out of form , it's too hard to get the 11 right for now. Assoumani is a trialist who we signed recently and I doubt if he knows English ! So , pump some crosses into our box and we will crack up soon If Robinson and Beckford cant make it , you'd probably see Kilkenny and Enoch come in. It would take a miracle for us to win if Beckford does not start as he is our ever present goal threat irrespective of the service. He'd be a handful for your defense as he thrives on big games. My heart wants a Leeds win but my head says a 3-1 Leicester win with Sheehan getting sent off ! I'm guessing that you guys are too hot for us to handle at the moment and it will take us weeks to reach the level your team is playing at. Hope I'm wrong ... Thoughts ? Your 11 ? .... Wish this game was televised !
Maybes Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 I would imagine our 11 will look something like this. Martin Gilbert Hobbs Tunchev Berner Oakley King Davies Dyer Fryatt Howard. 'Mon you bluuuuueeeees!!!
Koke Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Our 11 will be unchanged from the Posh game Martin Gilbert - Hobbs - Tunchev - BernerOakley - Davies - King - DyerFryatt - Howard
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 Who? If they can't get in a team that's mid table, lost there last 5 games and have sacked their manager... they can't be very good. They are not playing due to various reasons mate. Prutton , Howson and Kilkenny are not playing because our central midfield pairing have been immense this season ( Douglas n Delph ) and they are not the problem. We have around 7 central midfielders at the club , so it's a helpless and unfortunate situation. Bradley Johnson is doing great at Albion on Loan and there are premiership clubs after his signature ( another mistake by Macca to let him go ) . Huntington's injured for a long time and Aiden White's just 16 , so the club are wrapping him up with cotton wool. In my humble opinion , it's a case of some smart signings and sales by Grayson that should do the trick in terms of fulfilling our squad's potential. Gamblers get it wrong most of the times but bookmakers don't ! They are right more often than most and they always backed our squads to be the best in this league , I don't see how it changes over night.
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 Our 11 will be unchanged from the Posh game Martin Gilbert - Hobbs - Tunchev - BernerOakley - Davies - King - DyerFryatt - Howard It's a small consolation to see Gradel not in that 11. Like I said before , if you got pace anywhere on both flanks with little ability to put the ball in the box , the game is all yours. Why is Mattock not playing btw ?
Koke Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Mattock has been suffering from a man flu for 10 days or so they say, but he's back in training. He's been inconsistent anyway so I doubt he'd get in to our side the way we are playing. Lloyd Dyer is lightning quick, but Matt Oakley is a CM playing on the right, but Gilbert overlaps a lot and he has pace to burn. Gradel will be on the bench I presume so if things gets a bit rigid he could come on. He has been quite inconsistent as well but on his day he can be very good. So we do have a good bench consisting of Dickov, Gradel, Morrison, Campbell and Cisak [keeper].
yessae Posted 25 December 2008 Author Posted 25 December 2008 Gradel burnt us for fun last season with Bournemouth. Wish we had wingers like that. Sheehan can handle Oakley hopefully while Frazer's done well against quick wingers this season in Hackney, Boyd etc . If the Marques that Sunderland almost signed last season turns up for tomorrow's game , Fryatt would be in his pocket then. If not , I predict a riot Impossible to predict our bench as we hardly know Simon's style . Hopefully it should have Aiden White in it as he is a livewire at the back and the usual suspects in Howson , Enoch , Prutton etc It's a pity that Bradley Johnson is not available for this game. Didn't he score against your team this season ? How was he in that game ?
Leicester Rule! Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 http://www.theoffside.com/wp-content/uploa...nd-tattoo-2.jpg Wonder if that guy will be there tommorow ...,.
turkish14 Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 It's a pity that Bradley Johnson is not available for this game. Didn't he score against your team this season ? How was he in that game ? I didnt go to the leicester vs brighton game they'll be forum members who did and can give a better opinion, but if i remember rightly he scored 2 crackers against us (against the run of play) which resulted in a 3-2 loss.
JakeShingler Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 http://www.theoffside.com/wp-content/uploa...nd-tattoo-2.jpgWonder if that guy will be there tommorow ...,. Unless he's been released from prison.
Bryn Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 It's obvious everytime a rival fan pops up on another messageboard claiming to come "in peace". Waving a white flag already? Laughable. What's your point? I'm not waving a white flag, I'm well aware that most factors would suggest we're the better team and frankly regardless of the result tomorrow we're the better team. All I'm saying is why even bother interacting with this little wind up merchant? We'll still be a point clear of 2nd at least regardless of tomorrows result and well clear of Leeds, why give the little tramps more satisfaction on the chance we lose? If the white flag thing wasn't directed at me, ignore all this
Maybes Posted 25 December 2008 Posted 25 December 2008 Gamblers get it wrong most of the times but bookmakers don't ! They are right more often than most and they always backed our squads to be the best in this league , I don't see how it changes over night. Is this why you are now 6 favourites for the league then? Gradel burnt us for fun last season with Bournemouth. Wish we had wingers like that. If the Marques that Sunderland almost signed last season turns up for tomorrow's game , Fryatt would be in his pocket then. If not , I predict a riot BOYD and pace do not belong in the same sentence I'm affraid mate . Lloyd hasnt been his usual self over the last 3 weeks or so, but he is key to our team as his pace can open up a defence in an instant.
