Thracian Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Why does Gradel needs to leave? The lad is not immune from critics. If he wants to play he has to fight for it. At the moment we have won 7 of the last 8 games, and you wanna change a winning team in order to have one of your darlings to start? Gradel will get some playing time, the boy hasn't got a divine right to start, albeit you doing an exceptional job in trying to convince us all. I agree with you on Porter though - The lad can quite frankly do whatever he wants, and nobody would blink an eyelid. Some of you people will make up anything to justify a point. When have I advocated Gradel starting in the last two months? I've watched Oakley just like everyone else and I've seen the results. Not that we were doing badly with Gradel playing and before we brought in the likes of Davies in central midfield. That doesn't mean Gradel should have been shunted off and forgotten. What the hell have Dickov and Adams done to get above him in the pecking order? King is the only ex-youth player who has improved under the new regime from anything I've seen. And if that is to continue being the case why would the likes of Gradel and Porter want to stay?

It's parts and parcels of the game that players under-perform - for whatever reason - and thus have to work their way back into squad. You seem to want to give Gradel & Porter a free pass into the team. As I said, Gradel will get his time and then it's up to him to take it. If every player who couldn't get into the team decided to leave then the whole game would be a farce. Gradel will come good. I have massive confidence in the boy.
Jimmy Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Gradel has been in and around the squad almost constantly, its just for the majority he's been an unused sub, if Pearson was more willing to make substitutions then he would of gotten more game time, don't forget on several occasions we haven't made a single sub in a game, which some will say is a good thing but the likes of Dyer seem to be paying for it with a dip in form due to being in need of a rest, there have been many occasions with around 20 mins to go the game was all but settled but Pearson left people like Dyer (who runs his bollocks off in every game) on for the full 90
Jimmy Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Why would you consider putting a fringe team out? because this season I couldn't give a fook about anything but promotion
AjcW Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Why do so many people want to push oakley into center midfield, hes been a bit of a revelation since pearson pushed him out to the right, so if he plays i dont see why pearson would even consider putting him back there.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Strongest team. No point resting players at all. If Fryatt isnt 100% then I wouldnt risk him either. DJ will have the legs on Paddy Mac anyway.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Martin Gilbert Hobbs Morrison Powell Gradel King Davies / Berner Adams Campbell Dickov
carterfox90 Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 play a complete reserve side we will not win this so why risk injurys to vital players?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 play a complete reserve side we will not win this so why risk injurys to vital players? On the run we are on at the minute I wouldn't put it past the team. It's by no means impossible.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 I heard there is a player in the youth side that deserves a go.....i think his name is Sam Loveday

maddog Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Dickov is clearly desperate to play, i wouldn't risk Fryatt if he still hasn't fully recovered from his injury. Same with Tunchev, we don't need to take silly gambles with them, he may have not fully recovered yet, Morrison has done ok in his recent games. I would look at this team if possible: Martin or Henderson Berner Hobbs Morrison Gilbert Dyer King Davies Oakley Dickov Howard Bench: Fryatt (if fit) Campbell (if fit) Powell, Adams, Cisak.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 play a complete reserve side we will not win this so why risk injurys to vital players? I'm sure you are one of the same idiots who said the same thing about Aston Villa last season.
Thracian Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 I'm sure you are one of the same idiots who said the same thing about Aston Villa last season. We needed that win at Aston Villa to give us something of an uplift last season. It was one of the few ways we were ever going to feel a pride surge. But this season there is only one real target and, with the position we're in, who would want anything to adversely affect that be it injuries or a fixtures pile up?
Ultra Posted 2 January 2009 Author Posted 2 January 2009 But this season there is only one real target and, with the position we're in, who would want anything to adversely affect that be it injuries or a fixtures pile up? Quite.
Ultra Posted 2 January 2009 Author Posted 2 January 2009 I'm sure you are one of the same idiots who said the same thing about Aston Villa last season. The rounds before and after that Villa game both cost us players for the season. Neither were adequately replaced. We can't allow cup runs to have such an adverse impact on our league campaign this time around.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 I will be p***ed off if they field "fringe" players as i forked out £15 today for my ticket, Levi's a goner i expect him to leavin in Jan most probley Chelts, Hes obviously not Championship quality as someone would of been in for him by now. Strongest team for this 1 although i wouldnt play Fryatt & Tunch even if fit only on the bench, Dickov although i dont think is what he used to be so am struggling to partner Howard, then you carnt play Howard on his own in a 4-5-1. All in all we need to play a damn sight better than we did against Hereford. Martin(no other choice) Gilbert(getting better each game) Powell(play at center back to organise,be the rock at the back) Hobbs(Pah!) Mattock(although expecting him to be sold so might not play) Dyer(Left W, if having poor first, get maxi on for atleast 30mins) Oakley(Right W,Turned his form around been immense for a while now) Bunsen Berner(Like a Thief in the night doesnt all the credit he deserves,Quiet player n good link between defence & Mid) King(see how first 45mins goes,if looking tierd get Davies on sharpish) Howard(well certinly pulled his socks up and is a diffrent player) Dickov(needs to be a poacher again & not extra man in midfield, not that much of a pest anymore) Ciask,Fryatt*,Tucnh*,Davies,Gradel,Morrison,Chambers *if out DJ & Worley on bench
The Phantom Posted 3 January 2009 Posted 3 January 2009 I would like to see us field a relatively strong team. I think we should give Gradel a run. I can see Edworthy (unless he's injured) at Right Back. If they are looking to introduce some 'fringe' players be interesting to see Verma on the bench and maybe get a 20 minute spell.
MPH Posted 3 January 2009 Posted 3 January 2009 for a player that has been totally slated this season by SOME of you... its intresting to see that 90% of people have chosen him to start ....
The Phantom Posted 3 January 2009 Posted 3 January 2009 for a player that has been totally slated this season by SOME of you... its intresting to see that 90% of people have chosen him to start .... This is game would be the perfect for the likes of Gradel/Campbell no more than 2 'fringe' players to start. There isn't the pressure of the league here. Gradel's form must be affected by personal traumas he has had to go through, and I think a run out would be just what this kid needs. Like I say I don't want to see many changes, we need to look at our competitiveness against Championship players.

In my smugness i forgot to mention the player i was talking about!

When were you last on here?! Howard is virtually everyone's idol now. People realise what he brings to the table, but they do acknowledge that he should score more.
