lcfcsam1 Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I thought Worley was back from Luton.Didn't Knowitall say that he and Porter were training with the academy squad? Thats what i thought
Mark Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 As a Dickov Howard partnership is again likely, I'm put off forking out to go to this one. I'd like to see ------------- Martin Gilbert Hobbs Tunchev Mattock ------ Oakley King Davies Campbell------------------- Gradel ------------ Howard
Asha Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 A replay would be the last thing we'd want. I wouldn't mind to be honest. Would be a good night out Martin Powell Morrison Hobbs Gilbert Adams King Oakley Gradel Campbell Howard
StanSP Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 No offence, but if we play the likes of Verma, Sappleton, Rowe Turner then that just shows a disgrace to those that have paid £15 for the game. Lets go for it, get a replay. Beat Warnock and his chums. We wouldn't want this. We have enough fixtures as it is. And to add another one to the list adds to the risk of playing first team players and then those getting injured. As someone said before me, get it over and done with. Make use of home advantage and try and get a win . Hopefully Fryatt is fully fit for Saturday!
Micky Ruddle Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I'd definitely give Campbell a go. I'd like to see Worley given a chance. Decent at Stoke. Promising, but that was about it. Give the lad another chance? Bring Tunch in, with Powell and Gilbert. Maxi on right. Try Berner on the left maybe..Oakley and King CM. Campbell and Howard.
melrose Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 It seems to me that the posters on here that are advocating resting players for palace are "new school" city fans, the fans around in the 70's & 80's would have demanded nothing less than the best we have to offer for the much anticipated FA cup. I realise that we must exit this league at the first time of asking, nevertheless spare a thought for the city fans who still think of the first week in January with fond memories of potential FA cup runs gone by! (And there were a few).
clazkel Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I hope we play a strong side as id love to get through to the next round. I dont think Fryatt will play so id like Chambers to start up front with Howard or even DJ.
Corky Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Henderson Gilbert Morrison Hobbs Powell Adams Davies King Dyer Howard Campbell
Thracian Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 I've come around to Daggers way of thinking on this, if it's still the same... the game is just a hindrance. I couldn't give a toss who plays. The first team is established and any injuries against Palace would be most unwelcome. We can top up the fitness of people like DJ, Dickov, Adams and others but I can't see anyone lower than the top 18 in the club getting especially excited if they do play. We could even give Palace a bye for all I care. With the position we're in, promotion is the only thing that realistically matters now. I don't see any of the kids doing themselves any great good. In fact it's becoming hard to see the point of the Academy team any more, at least in relation to feeding the first team. Only King seems to have made significant progress this season first team wise and if the likes of Gradel and Porter are makeweights there's precious little chance for anyone else in the near future. I could be wrong but I'd be surprised.
Mikey Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Martin Gilbert Hobbs Tunchev Powell Gradel Davies King Dyer Howard Campbell (Fryatt if fit)
Guest Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Martin Gilbert Hobbs Tunchev Mattock Gradel Davies King Adams DJ Dickov / Chambers I'mn ot overly fussed if we lose against Palace and I'd like to see some of our first 11 given a rest before the next league match, and get a few of these ones up to match fitness in case we need the in the coming weeks
Chairman of the Bored Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Did somebody mention the Sappletizer?
davieG Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 From the Merc Pearson is concentrating mostly on Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie at home to Crystal Palace. There have been concerns that top scorer Fryatt, who has an ankle knock, and Aleksandar Tunchev (groin strain) might not make it. Pearson said: “It is a bit early but it looks as if they both could be fit.” Paul Dickov stands by in case Fryatt does not make it and Michael Morrison covered for Tunchev on Sunday.

Would love it if Fryatt scored the winner against Colin willy puller and his tawdry bunch. Especially as he was sniffing around for a purchase early-December.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Shock, horror. Did I just read that Thracian wants to abolish the Academy?! Shurely not.......
lcfcliam Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Alex Cisak (Hendo if he's fit) Marc Edworthy Michael Morrison Jack Hobbs Kerrea Gilbert Matt Oakley (captain) Bruno Berner Mark Davies Lloyd Dyer Steve Howard DJ Campbell Subs: David Martin Paul Dickov Nicky Adams Max Gradel Aman Verma Matty Fryatt (if fit)
wellsy Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Henderson Gilbert Hobbs Morrison Mattock Oalkey Davies Berner Dyer Howard Dickov Left Tunchev out because I dont think we should risk aggravating his injury, same for Fryatt. Strong team should be put out though I reckon, to see how we cope against a championship side. And Martin is s**t so Henderson should play

I realise that we must exit this league at the first time of asking, nevertheless spare a thought for the city fans who still think of the first week in January with fond memories of potential FA cup runs gone by! (And there were a few). Couldn't be more wrong.. Many of the fans from the era you quote would turn in their graves at the thought of us having to qualify for the 3rd round, as happened this season. The importance of the Cup has diminished a lot over the last 20 years or so. Even if Pearson decides to select his strongest side, the Way will still be less than half-full. I'd like to see us have a good cup run again some time, and maybe even lift the trophy. But that's a few years off at least. The JPT was our best hope of reaching Wembley this season and we fcuked that up. Promotion has to be our only priority now.
JoeyB Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 It will be the strongest team they can field, s the further they can go in the cup, the more prize money the club gets, and with the drop in revenue from going from champ >>> league 1, Milan will have said he wants decent cup run.
Legend_in_blue Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 It is completely unnecessary to risk injury to important first team players in what is a completely unnecessary fixture. This is a nothing game. It means nothing. All it gives you is a bit of cred against a championship club. Yipee-do-dar. They aren't even a big club. I want us to be competitive, and win, but if it means getting injuries and whatever else to do so, forget it. The league is far more important. Revenue from this tie and any future ties in this competition fall by the wayside when compared to the revenue gained by promotion and the subsequent increase in revenue next season. We don't want a draw either. Selhurst Park is a dump.

Unless you want to play an injured keeper as part of our 'strong squad'
King Cal Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 I wouldn't rest Dyer. It'll be interesting to see how he plays against a Champ side.WE're obviously going to need him next year King could be rested. Berner can go CM as you say. But I'd bring Powell in at left back. Any news on Porter recently?? I'm not saying bring him back for the squad - just like to know what he's doing - injured? reserves? leaving in Jan?? Levi was walking home from the Hereford game behind me in his City tracksuit on the phone moanng that someone wasn't texting him back. I've heard months ago that he has a bit of a drink problem. Last time i seen him after a game he was driving a nice Audi A3 so why was he walking home. Strange if you ask me. We need to field a strong team against Palace as a result would only add to the growing confidence. However i am concerned about the amount of games Dyer and King have played. This would be my team: Martin Gilbert Morrison Tunchev (Hobbs if Tunc not fit) Mattock Gradel Oakley Davies (Berner if Wolves don't let him) Porter (Would love to see Levi back in the first team, love the guy, think Big Nige will go with Adams though) Howard Fryatt (Campbell if Fryatt still struggling) I definately want to see Levi involved at some point of this game. Nigel said he would give Levi a go at that meet the manager night. Yet he cant even beat the awful Nicky Adams into the side. Something strange going on im sure.

We don't want a draw either. Selhurst Park is a dump. For all true football fans, in my opinion, it does mean something. It's the FA Cup. Our most prestigious competition in the history of the game. Ask the majority of fans, whether they support non league or league teams, they will all tell you that they look forward to a good run in the FA Cup. Even the big four clubs, Arsenal,Liverpool,Man Utd and Chelsea take this trophy seriously. They rarely field weakened teams in this competition, unlike in the League Cup.

Koke Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Porter needs to leave for his own good. Same as Gradel.Leave the FoxesTalk fans with what they want. Experience and loanees. Why does Gradel needs to leave? The lad is not immune from critics. If he wants to play he has to fight for it. At the moment we have won 7 of the last 8 games, and you wanna change a winning team in order to have one of your darlings to start? Gradel will get some playing time, the boy hasn't got a divine right to start, albeit you doing an exceptional job in trying to convince us all. I agree with you on Porter though - The lad can quite frankly do whatever he wants, and nobody would blink an eyelid.
