keefox Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I see tev is performing now at non league Wellingborough Town ! at 29 surely some league club might take a gamble on him ??? mind you though, when he was at city he was loaned out more times than a library book.
Vardinhio Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I thought he did OK at Hereford. Shocked he's fallen so low.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Jesus. I had no idea he'd signed for them. They are away to Northampton Spencer on Saturday. That's 15 minute walk from my house. Crazy.
syston_fox Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 He was never that bad a player so how he's fallen so low is a mystery to me.... unless he has developed a real attitude problem is recent years?
Sods Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I can't believe this. Wellingborough are in a a right shite league, Northampton Spencers pitch is one of the worst ive ever seen. Constantly called off as well there. Bit different to playing on at the Walkers.
Father Ted Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I am really surprised, especially as his goals basically got Hereford promoted last season... but then again he was born in Wellingborough.
syston_fox Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I am really surprised, especially as his goals basically got Hereford promoted last season... but then again he was born in Wellingborough. Thing is he got injured mid-way through the season and then fell out of favour thanks to the arrival of Theo Robinson on loan from Watford... I always admired him as a player in that he would always try even though he wasn't blessed with the natural skill of some other players around. Hope he can regain a league status at some point but I think his days of earning a career as a footballer are now over.
Bryn Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 He was so highly rated when he was younger... scored loads for Cambridge. Don't quite know why he's dropped so alarmingly - was evidently never good enough for the Prem but you'd have expected him to at least have a moderately successful League career.

It's because he played under Peter Taylor.

Darkzzz_ Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 I couldn't believe it when I picked up the Evening Telegraph last week to find Trev was turning out for "The Doughboys" I am sure he could still do a job at Conference level at least, I know Kettering rejected him though. Edit: Just to add, Wages in the UCL are fairly decent for a part time footballer, some clubs are paying £300 per week, including Wellingborough. All that to get a push towards Southern League football. I only ever made it up to UCL division 1 and I managed to get paid a tenner a game.
keefox Posted 31 December 2008 Author Posted 31 December 2008 anybody know what international honours 'tricky' trev got ? im sure he played for england at under-21 level, but i reckon he turned out for jamaica while he was at city ?? anybody shed any light ? when wellingborough come to desborough i might turn up and give the boy a shout !
Anish Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 The guy was rubbish, but some people jumped on the bandwagon of his cult following. His touch and technique was poor for a professional footballer, and probably only ever caught the eye of scouts when he was younger because he was big, strong and fast. I think he could do a job in League 1 or 2, but he's been at more clubs than most people have had hot dinners and none of them have kept him on!
UrbanFox Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 My girlfriends from Wellingborough and I remember being over there a few years back, I saw him in Wellingborough tescos when I had me city shirt on, he saw my shirt and looked away very quickly. then i pointed out to the missus that it was tricky trevor. he must of heard me as his head came straight back round and he nodded at me and looked chuffed that some one had noticed him! What a legend
Samilktray Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Hes my all time hero. Sharing a box with him was truly the greatest honour I ever had.

I agree, but I think the reason some liked him was because he always gave 100%, more than can be said for some other players during his time at the club.

Exactly. He lacked in many areas of his game but one thing he had in abundance was his commitment. Hope he bounces back.
lildave3 Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Hes my all time hero.Sharing a box with him was truly the greatest honour I ever had. Those Friday nights in Thurmaston get crazier by the week.
Samilktray Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Those Friday nights in Thurmaston get crazier by the week. Frank Sinclair was present also, not to mention Sir Les Senior. You dont know the half of it.
Ultra Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 He was never that bad a player so how he's fallen so low is a mystery to me.... unless he has developed a real attitude problem is recent years? He's ALWAYS had an attitude problem. Even in the weeks after La Manga, he was regularly seen clubbing in the city centre. I hear his scoring record was rather better there than it was on the pitch.
Vardinhio Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Hes my all time hero.Sharing a box with him was truly the greatest honour I ever had. Fairplay, I don't think many people can compete with that. Have you seen the size of his.....
Webbo Posted 1 January 2009 Posted 1 January 2009 Link WikiBournemouth manager Jimmy Quinn said of the player,(Tricky Trev) "He's not what I'm looking for, he's probably past his sell-by date." Well Jimmy, it looks like you're passed your sell by too. <_< BBC Bournemouth have parted company with manager Jimmy Quinn following a meeting of the new board on New Year's Eve.
Ultra Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Quinn being sacked doesn't change the fact that League 2 and Conference managers support his views on Trev.
