The People's Hero Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 I can't be bothered arguing about it. There might be a god, there might not. At the end of the day, I'm still a pis sed up loser from Maidstone who drifts from crisis to chaos to catastrophe to ecstasy to joy to contentment and back through to crisis (via Birkhamstead).
BoneDog Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Errm... because science has answered this bit! It's all pretty simple it's called GRAVITY! look it up!You should read Dawkins' 'proper' books, I'm reading "The Blind Watchmaker" at the mo' and it's all about evolution... and how our brains have evolved not to be able to grasp the concept. It takes too long, our brains work in minutes, days, years etc. ... not tens of thousands of years. So we find it easier to assume there is a designer (like we design stuff; cars, planes, computers etc.). The whole world thought it was flat at some point... does it mean they were right? Dawkins is correct then! He has solved all mankinds questions I see! I think that in a few years people will laugh at the theory that "our brains aren't able to grasp the concept of evolution"! At least we all know why most people in the world (including alot of top scientists) don't believe in the theory of evolution. It's because our brains can't grasp the idea! So are you saying that the force of gravity just appeared from nowhere? I don't think it did. That's like saying that a nuclear power plant just appeared from nowhere, when we all know that some very clever people designed it.
BoneDog Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 The whole world thought it was flat at some point... does it mean they were right? So if the whole world thinks that Dawkins is right (which hardly any do) does that mean they are correct?
BoneDog Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Mate, you really are a fool, you really ought to do your research yourself rather then going onto pro Islamic sites and taking for granted what shit they've written!!! This is the last i will say on this matter, to debate with a fool is like having an ape for a wife, totally pointless!!! Okay boss, I am a fool. And you, sir, are a genius. I salute you I have not been on one Islamic site. I have seen a few documentarys on youtube! I really am sorry for stating my view. Next time I see these things being discussed on here I will stay out of it.

So humans have the brainpower to design space rockets, computers, supersonic jets etc. but they don't have the capacity to grasp the concept of evolution? You can't really believe that can you? And if "our brains have evolved not to be able to grasp the concept", as you say, does that mean that they used to be able to grasp it? Before they evolved?
Phube Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Dawkins is correct then! He has solved all mankinds questions I see! That's like saying that a nuclear power plant just appeared from nowhere, when we all know that some very clever people designed it. Top scietists!! I've told you only 1 Nobel Prize winning scientist (regared as one of the top honours in science!) out of 700 doesn't! Just becuase a lot of people's brains can't grasp the FACT of evolution, doesn't mean it's not true. Most people can't grasp the idea of quarks, neutrinos, relativity etc. So it takes special people: Einstein, Hawkins, Darwin to think outside of the normal pattern of human behaviour! So if the whole world thinks that Dawkins is right (which hardly any do) does that mean they are correct? No, but it's amazing how, overtime, our knowledge increases and we begin to disregard what we "knew" to be fact, when a more plausable, quantifyable, proveable answer comes along!

You can't really believe that can you?And if "our brains have evolved not to be able to grasp the concept", as you say, does that mean that they used to be able to grasp it? Before they evolved? Even in the Preface this is dealt with: Rocket science (is actually pretty easy!), computers jets etc. are all relatively simple objects which we have equations for. An we have the capacity to grasp the concept... but it's easier to believe we were plonked here than to imagine a slow process over many millions of lifetimes! Nope, we are still animals and inso much our only evolved concepts were food, live, mate. Still the same as today.
BoneDog Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 No, but it's amazing how, overtime, our knowledge increases and we begin to disregard what we "knew" to be fact, when a more plausable, quantifyable, proveable answer comes along! Very true. Scientific theories do get disregarded every few decades but the one thing that has remained for thousands of years is peoples belief in an outside intelligent force that none of us can ever understand.

The People's Hero Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 I thought my outstanding posts of a while ago would have ended this. It really doesn't matter what you believe as long as you treat me well, you're alright by me.
Phube Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Very true. Scientific theories do get disregarded every few decades but the one thing that has remained for thousands of years is peoples belief in an outside intelligent force that none of us can ever understand. Not technically true... Scietific theory hones down the truth. Even the great Dawkins ( ) has stated if there was to be anything to disprove evolution he would embrace it with open arms... but there ISN'T (yet). It is part of being a scientist.
coale39 Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 We are now all standing on a piece of rock that is just floating in the middle of nowhere. It is not held up by strings or wires. It is held up by an invisible force. This piece of rock (and all the others) is also spinning at so many thousand miles per hour whilst at the same time going round and round the Sun in a never ending orbit. It never leaves it's set course and never malfunctions. So why is it unrealistic for someone to believe that there is an unknown power controlling all these miracles? How many people believe that the Earth is 'floating'? And why is it that the Earth is actually in an oval orbit, not a perfect circle? And that the rotation is actually slowing down? Hardly perfect is it.
Dr The Singh Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Okay boss, I am a fool. And you, sir, are a genius. I salute you I have not been on one Islamic site. I have seen a few documentarys on youtube! I really am sorry for stating my view. Next time I see these things being discussed on here I will stay out of it. EMpty, I didn't mean to sound harsh and have nothing against you personally. But your stance and you 'blindness' in certain topics will make you look foolish, and in this topic you have made yourself very clear on your views!! You really ought to stop watching those you tube documentary's and get yourself a girlfriend\boyfriend!!

Dr The Singh Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 After seeing you on Saturday Singh, I'd go out with you Join the queue Corky, unfortunately I seem to be attracting all the men!! Although Corky, your quite tasty yourself, do you like leather..............................

If the earth or any other planet went out of orbit it would mean catastrophe for us all.
Corky Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Join the queue Corky, unfortunately I seem to be attracting all the men!! Although Corky, your quite tasty yourself, do you like leather.............................. Not really mate, sorry.
Dr The Singh Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Not really mate, sorry. Good, nor do I!!!!
coale39 Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 I didn't literally mean floating. It is perfect. If the earth or any other planet went out of orbit it would mean catastrophe for us all. I dont think (however I might be wrong) that if Neptune decided to go AWOL and visit another solar system it would be 'catastrophic' for the Earth. And it certainly wasnt perfect in the past and its unlikely to be in the future.
BoneDog Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 Even the great Dawkins ( ) has stated if there was to be anything to disprove evolution he would embrace it with open arms... but there ISN'T (yet). It is part of being a scientist. Well, there is, just maybe not to Dawkins. Plenty of other scientists laugh at this theory and have data to back it up. Just because Dawkins supports the theory doesn't mean he's correct. He wouldn't embrace it. He won't even have debates with people who can pose serious questions and expose him. He comes out with silly excuses for not debating them. But we all know that if he could beat them in a debate he would jump at the chance. He refuses because he knows he would struggle to answer what they have to say.

I am engaged to a fine woman by the way
BoneDog Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 I dont think (however I might be wrong) that if Neptune decided to go AWOL and visit another solar system it would be 'catastrophic' for the Earth. I think it would cos each planets gravitational pull has a massive effect on all around. I might be wrong, I saw it on a documentary!
coale39 Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 I think it would cos each planets gravitational pull has a massive effect on all around. I might be wrong, I saw it on a documentary! Yeah, it could cause a chain reaction or something i guess
l444ry Posted 20 January 2009 Posted 20 January 2009 The truth about Dawkins is pretty simple. He’s a popular scientist who has let it all go to his head and hence thinks he’s qualified to make pontifications on God, the Universe and everything, and that so long as he knows how to laugh, he has addressed all matters of religion.

He doesn't... they started so he is defending himself!
