Only caught glimpses of the match in the third set but looked like a really brilliant match, Andy Murray should not feel too bad about losing to Verdasco in 5 sets after his performances in Australia.

Verdasco was pretty poor in the Muarry match though.

Murray played shit, he was to inconsistent, didn't respect Verdasco at all and never really got going.

Thats the problem with Murray, he doesn't respect any of his oppenents unless hes playing Nadal or Federer, and he always raises his game against them.

I can't see Murray EVER winning a slam, unless Nadal or Federer are injured.

And now you have players like Tsonga, Verdasco, Djokovic, Simon, Del Potro, Cilic, etc.

Great game of Tennis today and I was pleased with the overall result.

I often wonder if Nadal is human.

I wouldn't mind finding out. :blush::P

Another Nadal-Federer epic. I'm delighted that Nadal won, Federer needed to be brought down a peg or two (his attitude towards his rivals in the last year and his arrogance about equalling Sampras' record has pis sed me off). Nadal was out of this world again, he is ridiculously good and on that form there is no one that can touch him. Nadal is clearly the out and out World No. 1 now - he's won on clay, grass and now hard surfaces and he only needs the US Open to win each Grand Slam title (something that Sampras never achieved and Federer looks unlikely to achieve).

Sadly, I felt a little sorry for Federer at the end in the way he was crying - I think he knows deep down that getting that 14th slam is going to be so hard now. But his post-match interview showed Federer's true character - blaming his poor first serve and the fact that he handed the fifth set to Nadal - and not once did he accept that the better player won. It's that sort of talk that really shows that Federer's only gracious in victory.

Fantastic match between the two best players in the world at the moment, simple as that really.

Federer was irresistable early on but everything he threw at Nadal he hit back with an even better shot. Some of the reaches Nadal were made were actually impossible and the accuracy and power Fed gets on his backhand is unreal. When I used to play tennis I had a single-hander and it was hard enough getting it in, let alone with that amount of power.

Think Federer is coming to the end now, how can he carry on improving at this stage to better Nadal?

You gotta love Nadal, improves his game every year. Just under 10 hours of tennis in the last few days and he could prob still do more, amazing! All with his weaker hand lol. Here's to many more!

p.s wonder if Serena is a little ashamed to be being paid the same money as Nadal?

He is a sophisticated robot sent back through time....

I think you could be right Ched.

Whilst I don't think it is totally over for him, Federer really did throw everything at Nadal and can he really keep doing that? I'm not sure he can.

Nadal is something else.

I really admire both of them, Nadal even said sorry to Federer for beating him.

lol

I doubt it, but in my opinion (call me sexist if you like) they should only be paid equally if they play 5 sets (equal pay for equal work).

Too right.

I am a proud sexist.

Where's the Federer backlash come from? Suddenly, he's starting to get stick from some quarters about arrogance. From all the interviews I've seen, Federer has always come across as a gracious winner and indeed loser (on the odd occasion).

I consider myself lucky to be able to see two of the greatest players of all time, playing at their peak, with such rivalry and quality. It's nice that both Nadal and Federer both come across as two genuinely nice sportsmen, humble and gracious. It's such a contrast to virtually every other sport.

Well done to Nadal on winning, he is awesome and currently the better of the two players, but I do hope Federer knuckles down even more to go for number 14.

I don't agree with the Federer backlash at all.

I think both Nadal and Federer are true sporting icons. They are both champions. World class at what they do.

They both seem such nice chaps off the court too, they certainly put a lot of sports stars to shame.

I hope Federer bounces back, I really like them both. It is great to be a tennis fan when you have matches like these two are constantly having.

Here's to a great Tennis season ahead.
