StanSP Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 You tried Last Shadow Puppets? Bullet for My Valentine? The Used? Last two are a bit emo so doubt you'll like them. Try it
GLC Posted 26 January 2009 Author Posted 26 January 2009 You tried Last Shadow Puppets?Bullet for My Valentine? The Used? Last two are a bit emo so doubt you'll like them. Try it The Used are my favourite band
Jimmy2Drags Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 Was watching the 'Folk America' thing with Seasick Steve on BBC4. There was a chap called CW Stoneking who did a track called 'The love me or die'....it's some kinda hokum-calypso-murder-ballad. Probably not to everyone's taste, but to me, it's brilliant.
Samilktray Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 You tried Last Shadow Puppets?Bullet for My Valentine? The Used? Last two are a bit emo so doubt you'll like them. Try it You havent really got a clue of whats emo have you, I mean I havent the greatest knowledge but still.
Samilktray Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 What is your definition of emo? I wouldnt wanna define it, but Id say Bullet were Metal.
StanSP Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 I wouldnt wanna define it, but Id say Bullet were Metal. Fair enough. What i did hate though, was when the Daily Mail labelled the emo bands (My Chemical Romance and the like) were to blame for the unusual spate of suicides in Bridgend, Wales. Annoyed me that did
Libertine Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 I'd say BFMV were more Wannabe Metal. Ooooh, get me.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 Bullet are a Metalcore/Emocore band, a genre of music created which includes the likes of Trivium and Atreyu, earlier bullet sounds a bit like they are ripping off trivium, which is pretty crap, the new stuff is pretty cool though. Metal contains many subgenres and any that contain 'core' are usually the ones that are stereotyped as scene or emo. These are variations of other types of metal to include a slightly different element to it. Grindcore is basically grind but with a slightly more commercial sound, Metalcore is a softer and more harmonic metal, Deathcore is a softer version of death metal ect ect... Bullet are technically both metal and emo and are pretty cool, they are playing wacken and although i think they are decent they are way out of their depth there and will have an extremely poor crowd reaction. if you like bands such as Bullet and Enter Shikari then i could suggest Atreyu, Trivium, Bring Me The Horizon, Killswitch Engage (these guys are pretty awesome, very different across all their stuff, earlier stuff was more hardcore with their old singer, the new stuff is pretty much unique in its style but is probably metalcore) Caliban or As I Lay Dying. other bands i would recommend would be Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Capdown and Sixpointfive, just on the off chance that you like ska/punk, very upbeat music and some of it is very off the wall
Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 I Am Ghost are also well worth a listen, i would try them before any of the bands above
Mark Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 I Am Ghost are also well worth a listen, i would try them before any of the bands above They are absolutely awful.

YES AND YES - Good recommendation . I only found out about a month ago that Bring Me the Horizon got their name after watching Pirates of the Caribbean (they changed one word) . But yeah, good shout

Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 They are absolutely awful. oddly i like them, not my usual taste at all foxforever, i personally think that both the bands you highlighted have pricks for lead vocals but the music they played before they got big was good, they sold out since

I watched that too, enjoyed it. Thats probably why I'm listening to my robert johnson and woody records and just have bought seasick steves album.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 i don't know what i'm working with you see Reel Big Fish are very good live, i was tempted to go to see them in oxford in febuary but i thought seeing them 5 times in 2 years was rather extravagant, and i need all the money i can have at the moment In Flames are pretty good, its got lighter across the years but Reroute to Remain is a very good album Only For The Weak is a great song as is suburban me
Libertine Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 Metal is the most ridiculously overly analysed genre ever. CORRR. Let's listen to some Black Melodic Death Doom Drone Metal guys.
