Lillehamring Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Hardly mate. Indie of the 00's has been boring as fook, but plenty of genres have seen some fooking good times.Drum n Bass 2000-2004, breakbeat, techno, dubstep. Still, would probably have preferred to grow up in the late 80s, early 90s. no you wouldn't, it was really rubbish... imagine now but without mobiles, and with really rubbish computers
purpleronnie Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 no you wouldn't, it was really rubbish... imagine now but without mobiles, and with really rubbish computers I guess I grew up then, depends on what ages people mean when the say 'growing up' There we're so many different groups of kids those days even in a small town I remember goths, skin heads, then the whole acid house and baggy scene, even some boy george fans music music was pretty bad until the late 80's, I liked the early 90's stuff too. Plus the footy was better. Not a fan of computers or mobile phones so that doesnt interest me in the slightest, I still prefer my old C64 to any Wii. But its hard to imagine living without the internet but there was always plenty to do...OUTSIDE remember that?
Lovejoy Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I blame the generation above for any shortcomings of the yoof of today . Should keep the little rascals in line shouldn't you  .
General Smuts Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I blame the students, scrounging bastards.
Guest Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I blame the students, scrounging bastards. You missed out "long haired".
General Smuts Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 You missed out "long haired". It's mid length thank you very much.
Guest Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 It's mid length thank you very much. That is a matter of opinion.
Daggers Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I blame over-weight, long-haired pretend students - they ruin it for everyone.
Shrenchel Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 no you wouldn't, it was really rubbish... imagine now but without mobiles, and with really rubbish computers Acid house scene, Jungle taking off, going to the football still cheapish/a good laugh. Think I could have managed without a fooking iphone and foxestalk.
Uncle Albert Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 You cant wack a good house party. Always the best form of a party. Drinks are flying and someone is always ratarsed by a stupidly early time, I once slept in the bath. Great times, I have a massive one coming up soon aswell for some birds 18th. Cant wait.
Koke Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Growing up in the 90'ies was the dogs bollocks. Super Mario on Nintendo was the sex. Internet didn't exist and we didn't have mobile phones.
cisono Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Super Mario on Nintendo was the sex. Internet didn't exist and we didn't have mobile phones. (Super Mario on Nintendo - was that not in the 80s?) Anyway, no internet and no mobile phones? Sounds good to me! That probably means you have better brains than today's youths... PS: Internet did exist in the 90s, at least from 1993/94 or so. Also, mobile phones did exist. Someone I know had one, though she never used it (no one to text).
Alexikokopops Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 (Super Mario on Nintendo - was that not in the 80s?) On the NES, yeah, but then the SNES came along and Mario got even more awesome

I hear you. Super Mario on the NES was special, Who would have thought back then that this game would be sitting on a mobile phone a few years down the line. I still get the NES out now and again for old times sake.
Dr The Singh Posted 2 February 2009 Posted 2 February 2009 There was a party???? How come I wasn't invited!!!!!

Darkzzz_ Posted 2 February 2009 Posted 2 February 2009 My SNES is permanently out, hooked up to the big TV in the lounge Mario on the big screen is certainly strange. I wonder what Star Fox would be like. What a game.

James. Posted 2 February 2009 Posted 2 February 2009 Star Fox!! "Revolutionary" graphics. And I really was amazed by their quality at the time. Unlike the stuff nowadays it backed them up with good gameplay. Grumble grumble.

Games couldn't rely on good graphics to sell so the gameplay had to be good. The same with Star Wars too. God I hate the new ones.
James. Posted 2 February 2009 Posted 2 February 2009 Even just thinking about playing Super Mario World on the SNES again gets me excited. It has to be over 15 years since I first played it. Amazing.

Darkzzz_ Posted 2 February 2009 Posted 2 February 2009 Ah. I know the feeling. Don't get me wrong I love me a bit of Fifa action on the PS3 but I have never been excited about video games as much as I was when I first had my NES, SNES and SEGA. I remember getting Alex The Kid built in to my master system and I used to cry when I couldn't complete a level. The joy of saving my pocket money and buying "Goldenaxe", getting home and opening the bulky case and spending all day battering giants with big hammers.
