Why should a guy who works for the post office deserve a better pension that one who works for any other business? Why should tax payers money bail out their pension scheme? I get really fed up with the endless diatribe from people in public sector jobs who expect everyone else's taxes to fund a better retirement than those who pay the tax in the first place. It has got to stop. The Public Secotr now pays on average more than the private sector, with better job security and far better pensions. Quit moaning. Rant over. <_<

Rant over. <_< Jon, it's a common thing within society, people always think for themselves first, I can imagine many postal workers would prefer mass job losses just so thay could keep there jobs and there magnificiant pensions..................it's a selfish society!!!

I've heard nothing but cr ap from all of them over their proposed 1% pay increment whilst thousands of people simply don't have jobs.
Zingari Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 a postal worker was being interviewed on the radio and he said that for 18 years the govt. had neglected to put their share into the pension fund , while the postal workers had fulfilled their side of the bargain . if what he said was true i don't see why the post workers should suffer now . i would hate to have contributed to a scheme and have to suffer because the other party had neglected their duty

Monk Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 I think if you'd been promised a great pension and worked towards it for 35 years but then saw it depleted or revoked you have a right to be pissed off. I do agree that Post Office workers carry a special breed of self righteousness but they have a point. Ultimately the government has run the system badly for so long that it will be hard to recover without private sector influence. They are far too a draconian business to carry on the way they are going.

Rant over. <_< They dont, my uncle was a postman for 25+ years, plus the wages were poor. Plenty of other jobs have just as good if not better pensions and have higher wages. Also they dont have to join pension schemes if you dont like it pay into a private pension instead the choices are there.

However, one would feel that a government run one would be safer than a private one - which of course may also go tits up - but you pays your money and youy takes your chances, the only things that are dertain in life are death and taxes (unless you are a member of the "travelling community")

My mate used to gloat about his final salary pension with RM, he's been working there for nearly 20 years, he will be gutted, but in saying that he spent have of that time sleeping in the bogs or getting pissed in the bogs..........some of the stories he tells me......I can see why there in a mess!!!!
