New Venue for pitch invasion

Recommended Posts

There has been talk of pitch invasions at Peterborough, Southend and at home against S****horpe. These are all good and fun but in a Facebook chat with GLC, a stroke of genius occurred.

Why not combine a pitch invasion with the fancy dress army at Crewe on the last day? Not only is it the final match of the season and therefore the most appropriate time for an invasion but the thought of Elvis, Batman, the Joker et al invading the Gresty Road pitch is simply too hilarious for words.

Any thoughts?

And presuably we wouldn't get fined, that the club shit themselves over whenever there is a potential invasion and keep reminding you about?!

Although it would be us invade/encroaching on the pitch, Does the fine only apply because it is due to poor stewarding/policing :dunno:

Always thought invading another team's pitch wasn't really on but as you like I guess.

Probably best not to bait it up on a public forum if you're actually serious or I imagine you'll see plod 3 rows deep lining up in front of the away end before full-time.

Much harder to invade another team's pitch than our own.

Plus, like Shren says, it's a bit out of line. Especially if Crewe end up getting fined for improper security measures - it's not exactly like they're some big, rich club we hate.

Just asking for trouble really if you ask me. If you're doing it I'd save it for the Walkers.

And surely, for that matter, it's only ever appropriate the day you're mathematically promoted? :dunno:

Then there's the possibility of them being relegated that day too..

I know it was on their 'patch' (Which does make a big difference to the arguement I spose) but Stoke had no problem when we got relegated.

Although there are a few counter arguements to that;

-Stoke got promoted that day.

-Was on Stokes own ground.

-And Crewe have nothing to do with Stoke, so why compare the two, not as if we have anything to wind up or get payback towards Crewe.

Looks like you answered your own question, Matt. Plus I'd have no qualms doing it to Stoke, they're a pretty sizeable club, like us.

Crewe are... well... it's sort of like kicking a limping duck really isn't it? Unnecessary in my opinion.

I don't really see why you'd want to do it away instead of at the walkers?

Teams invading their own pitch at the end of the season happens all the times. The stewards never seem to give a shit, nobody ever gets arrested and the club never gets fined.

Why would you wanna risk those three things by doing it away?

It also has the potential to piss off the crewe boys and all get very fooked up. What are you gunna do if crewe go on the pitch as well and start offering you out?

I posted for the sake of posting TBH. :giggle:

All good points. I am ever so slightly hit or miss with good ideas and the more I think about it, the more this falls into the latter to be honest.

It was a funny idea in essence - a pitch invasion in fancy dress would be funny.

But:

A. Only a minority of the fans there will realistically be in fancy dress.

B. All of the above.

Mate people have got 18 months bird and a life ban for fighting with opposition fans 3 miles from the ground, 4 hours before the match. What do you reckon you're gunna get for doing it on the pitch at full time?!

Yes i know!! But if crewe offer us out ( obv they wont) then we cnt just let them kick shit into us can we!!

I don't particularly relish the idea of giving other clubs' problems and fines by invading their pitch, so I'm out.

Walkers last match if you must, not away from home it's idiotic.

Tell that to talking balls... the health and safety inspectors on there would like everyone to remain seated, applaud politely and go home.

Christ!

Am I really turning into one of them?

Shit...

Come on everybody - last one on the pitch is a gay.

The little one at Orient was quite funny, I must admit.

But I wouldn't want us to do it on someone else's turf. How would we feel if a load of douches from the away end invaded Filbert Way at the end of a season?

When you're getting bummed by some hench geezer in the nick I'm sure it'll be a great consolation to you that you saved face against crewe.
