AMYB101_LCFC Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 There's a video at the bottom of the article to show you what the stadium is supposed to look like. http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/homepage/Fe...il/article.html I think it's ugly to be honest! Apparently it's based on Aston Villa's stadium and is inspired by Alex Ferguson! Sorry if this has already been posted, I couldn't find it on search.

dandannieldanok Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Looks nothing like Villa Park imo, just another generic stadium out of the flat-pack catalogue we chose ours from.
C-man Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I like it, much different to most new stadiums. Ashton Gate is still preferable though.
Flynny Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I don't much see the point. They'd increase capacity almost as much just by redoing a couple of the stands, and for half the cost. They don't really sell out that often anyway. If they get promoted again, then fair dos, but until that happens I don't see why they would.
Thracian Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 At least the pitch looks respectable. As for the rest if looks so unimaginative, uninspiring, and so basic it looks straight off the peg.
Fosse Boy Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 At least it's not a complete clone of St. Mary's/Filbert Way, but why bother moving?
Tommeh Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Shit/Pointless and will probably end up as a FW replica anyhow. Plus Ashton Gate is a fantastic ground.

lildave3 Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I like it, agree with them not needing to move though.
Koke Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 They don't have the fan base to do this. They are a small club and only when they've had several years in the Prem and have reqcruited a lot of new fans, then they can build a new stadium.

Gambling on a new stadium as a way to attract new fans is more often than not a very short term solution and is often damaging to finances and the clubs' subsequent fortunes in the long run.
Ultra Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 *Sir Alex has suggested a MASSIVE clock be visible so that the managers can point to it when insufficient time is added at the end of each half. *A wine cellar is also to be installed in each of the managers' offices. *Dugouts will be equipped with a link to the public address system so that the manager can make his views known to everyone who understands Scottish. *There will be an ego-massage facility in the visitors dressing room in preparation for visiting Premiership players. *There will be a shelf in each dressing room with a huge stock of items for the manager to throw. *There will be pubs installed in each stand, but these will only be opened on the rare occasions that rugby is played at the stadium. *The design will be tailored to ensure that the accoustics are really poor, so that over-priced concerts can continue to be staged. *Suggestions for the installation of swear-boxes around the ground have been rejected as there is insufficient room to install one large enough for the job.
Shrenchel Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 It looks a bit different from the usual but I doubt that's what you'll get by the end of it. Seems like the acoustics will be fooking awful.

I'm sure if they were to get promoted to the Premiership about 20,000 fans would come out of the woodwork. Bristol have their Rovers fans, their City Fans and then the floating voters. Both sides went to Wembley over the last couple of years, both sold their allocation easily - and you'll find a good proportion of fans went to BOTH games. I feel a little sorry for Rovers though as they desperately need to sort out their ground, more so than City do - although I can imagine they have one eye of the Premiership here, and considering how long it may take to build, starting out now is proberly the right time to do it. Design wise - it's slightly different, would need to see it in the flesh, but I fear that all Stadiums with 'character' will eventually be lost.

Rover have all the designs finalised too, it was meant to be half built already but the main investor pulled out at the last minute. I don't think they'll have too many problems finding another once was the financial situation isn't so fooked. Again though, I think it'll be gash. 7,000 fans knocking around in a 22,000 (I think) seater.

EDIT: Just founds some pics, not a bowl and doesn't look to bad for a new ground actually...
Shrenchel Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 It's gonna be a bowl I take it? EDIT: Just founds some pics, not a bowl and doesn't look to bad for a new ground actually... Yeah from the original plans I saw seemed to be a four sided ground. I guess if they're trying to cut costs to actually get the thing built that could change though.
J.Lisemore Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 I quite like that...i would rather have that than our bowl anyway.
