Thracian Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 Good call, but we know Pearson will rather cut off one of his own limbs than drop Howard or Dyer.. Why do ALL City managers have a "love child" who, no matter how badly they play, can apparently do no wrong in the boss's eyes? The Chosen Men are back!
Raj Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 I just wanna see us try another style of football if Plan A isnt working. If we dont beat Chelt i think we really will be stuttering to the finish line... wankers

Foxhateram Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 Stockdale Gilbert Hobbs Morrison MattockCleverley Oakley King Gradel Howard Fryatt All this rest players crap is really getting to me now. These guy's are professional footballers, they are trained athletes. There mental and physical fitness should be at peek level. Playing games week in week out is part of the fitness regime that is created for them. They should be more then capable of performing to there best in every game of the season. YOU DON'T CHANGE A TEAM THAT IS DOING WELL. We are top of the table and 22 games unbeaten. Did Arsenal change there team much when they went on that unbeaten season? i believe Viera played 98% of their games that season as did the back four, Henry played every match but 4-5. Folks NP is playing his best team, and that team has not been beaten for 22 games. What more do you want? Any manager will tell you that you don't change a formula that has got you to the top. We have missed a little bit of flair since Davies left i agree with that, however we are still unbeaten and we are still putting points on the table. As long as we are doing that then i am not going to say we should change the side. You are all up for changing it, but if he does change it then we lose it'l be "why did he change the unbeaten formula" Enjoy being 12 points clear at the top. It feels bloody good
londonfan Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 Slightly off topic - it wouldn't let me start a new thread -, but a Cheltenham fan in peace here. Looking forward to the trip up but would like some local knowledge - which will be the best pub for my family to watch the coventry vs chelsea game on TV before our match....? Thanks

It feels bloody good yes Arsenal DID change their team, quite often in fact, as do United now, using the same players every game builds up a level of fatigue which means players tire during games quicker so they are effective for less, also the team may be unbeaten but they ARE NOT PLAYING WELL, they players people want left out are the 1's under performing the most, its not just about resting player but also showing them their current level of performance is not good enough. If Fergie were our manager do you think he would tolerate Dyer's current performances even in an unbeaten run?
jimmer Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 Stockdale Gilbert Hobbs Morrison Mattock/Powel Oakley King Berner Gradel Fryatt Howard Time to run Gradel out, Lloydy needs to sit on the bench for a few. Think Powel distributes better, but cant get forward as much. Just think we are struggling for experience at the back, need a calm head.

MC Prussian Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 I believe Wayne Brown's torn his calf muscle. that'll be his season done if he has then 3-4 weeks. 4 weeks for a torn muscle, that seems a little fast, but I'll take your word for it According to the BBC, Brown's out with a "calf injury", so he might be out for up to three to four weeks (that's my guess). Or he could already be back for next week's game, you never know with calves.

Thracian Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Why do I feel so sceptical about all this? My enduring picture of Wayne Brown against MK Dons is with his hands on his hips halfway through the first half looking completely knackered. And if he was less than fully fit to start with - and he didn't look fit when tying to recover from being turned for their goal - then it's no surprise he would get a muscle injury. So much for another "experienced" signing. To me he'll join a long line of signings over this and recent seasons who all came with pedigree but little else that I was ever lucky enough to witness, either by way of durability or the fitness to last for 90 minutes. What a gravy train this football game is. You can well understand people getting disillusioned.
