I'll not be putting money on it being any more exciting. In fact if we carry on like tonight we'll be calling him "Plod Pearson" instead of "God" Pearson.

NP really has been very conservative this season. We started well with 2 men up and 2 wide but as soon as the opposition realised they could overload us in central midfield we started to drop points. (Brighton, Swindon etc)

That was fixed by getting Dyer to 'tuck in' and playing Oakley narrow right, moves that effectively took away our attacking flair. Sure we continued to win games, there are a lot of very average teams in this division, but apart from a spell when the excellent Davis was driving us forward we have rarely been that potent again.

Whether next year will be exiting or not will depend on who we get in to replace the 10-12 players who will be leaving in the summer. This will be dictated by the budget that NP has to play with and, to a degree, the targets set by MM.

Barry Hayles?

Have people forgotten that he's total shite!?

Would like to see a midfield of...

Cleverley, Oakley, King, Gradel

We're not keeping the ball well enough or looking a threat. Gradel may be inconsistent but he constantly wants to make things happen. We need more energy and purpose in our attacking play.

It will never happen, but what I would really like to see for a front 6 is;

Berner and King in Front of the back 4, with responsibility for picking the ball up from the defenders and cutting out the hoofball.

Gradel, Cleverley and Dyer playing further forward with instructions to play attacking roles and to do their defensive work by harrassing the opposition in more forward positions.

With Gradel and Dyer prepared to come inside and support Fryatt, there will be space on the flanks for our fullbacks to get forward, with Berner and King sitting quite deep we have plenty of cover.

Fryatt up front.

OK I know that is far from perfect, Fryatt lacks the pace to be a really effective lone striker but if he gets enough support from the attacking midfield players it could work well.

This is very different from the way we have been playing all season that there is no way NP is going to play anything like this, but it would be fun to see!

I don't really care. But I wish Pearson would get his head out of his arse and put a side out with some fresh legs and a genuine commitment to winning by scoring some goals.

I've seen enough of the joyless, slow-motion football we've had to suffer for months now (Walsall excepted).

We badly need some drive from midfield and if that means playing 4-5-1 with something like Gradel, Oakley, King, Porter, Dyer then so be it.

And lets get those full-backs supporting properly and with a bit of spirit.

With that sort of midfield I'm sure they would.

It would give us a real capacity to pass the ball again - an art we seem to have lost since Tunchev and Davies were lost to the side.

Re arrange the following with regards your opening words, Kettle, black, pot,

I have alway`s thought of you as being a clueless, moaning bugger, but having been right next to you at a match and having to move to get away from your moaning gob I now know you are !

Barry Hayles :scarf:

Those of you who are totally negatively blinkered to him, when last night he blatantly had a positive impact on the side, and we looked far more liked scoring when he was on, as he actually runs and makes things happen unlike Howard who stands still waiting for the ball, may need to be reminded he scored 4 goals in 12 appearences for Cheltenham this season.

Another reason to start him Saturday, players always score against former clubs, hes bound to score against Cheltenham, just as Hammond will probably score for them :P

Thats 4 goals in 12 appearences, thats a goal every 3 games, and hes played what, twice for us this season for a few minutes, hes not had a chance.

Same with Dj Campbell, hes a better option than Hayles, Dickov and Chambers, id rather see him and Fryatt starting Saturday but hes not here.

Either ways after that performance Howard should certainly be benched.

I know Howard has played well this season, a lot lot better than last season, but just because hes scored a few goals and played better doesn't mean you all excuse his shittness, especially in home matches. He was useless against Dons and Stockport.

IMO if we had 1 or 2 other decent strikers at the club Howard would never start, we have to start him because we have no other options, Hayles, Dickov couldn't cope playing week in week out, Howard can just about cope but is certainly starting to struggle now. The only decent option, DJ is at Blackpool. I :dunno: if Chambers is an option.

Hard to see the point of Berner in midfield at the moment, why not go back to roughly the team that started the season, Oakley with King in the middle, Gradel and Dyer playing properly out wide? All right a lot of players are a bit tired, but I don't think Hayles is a replacement for Howard, or Berner for King.

Betting on unchanged though...

Id like to see that but with Gradel and Chambers playing wide and getting down the wing

pearson seems to be to be the sort of manager who will want his best 11 out there until automatic promotion is guarenteed....

How does he know its his best eleven when Porter Adams and Gradel and Campbell havent had a chance . I personally think last years side would done just as well in this very poor league . I wonder if Saturday will be classed as a hard match instead of saying we should get 4or 5. One of the hardest matches on paper was S****horpe away which was won without Howard who is supposed to be indispensable

Apart from our goal we NEVER looked like scoring last night.

OK. I know this will not be the team as Nige never changes his team unless it's enforced but i'd like to see this team, Gradel would be good and Hayles the same(think Stevie needs a rest).

Good call, but we know Pearson will rather cut off one of his own limbs than drop Howard or Dyer.. :(

Why do ALL City managers have a "love child" who, no matter how badly they play, can apparently do no wrong in the boss's eyes?
