MC Prussian Posted 30 April 2005 Share Posted 30 April 2005 Jeff Buckley - Grace I don't know how to explain it, but the music nowadays has real trouble to display emotions. It's way too superficial and one must go back in the days to find a gem like Buckley's hymn. One of the few artists who put all their feelings into a particular song. It makes me want to weep everytime and gives me chicken skin. And at the same time, it is so perfect and wonderful. An other one would be Dispatch - Passerby Because of the lyrics. I'm not crazy like my brother but it's the way I choose I don't hang around with a six pence when I got everything to lose would you bring me my money and take from me all that I was worth cause I wasn't worth nothing and I wasn't yours oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay a while cause it's been too long since you been around sold out men from across the way he thought he heard what he heard you say hey now man your watch it shines for the bid of a moment yeilds 40 times oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay while don't you be a passerby oh don't won't you sit down and stay a while... cause it's been too long since you been around woman and little child don't you be a passerby I'm not crazy like my brother but it's the way I choose I don't hang around with a six pence when I got everything to lose would you bring me my money and take from me all that I was worth cause I wasn't worth nothing and I wasn't yours oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay a while cause it's been too long since you been around sold out men from across the way he thought he heard what he heard you say hey now man your watch it shines for the bid of a moment yeilds 40 times oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay while don't you be a passerby oh don't won't you sit down and stay a while... cause it's been too long since you been around woman and little child don't you be a passerby I'm not crazy like my brother but it's the way I choose I don't hang around with a six pence when I got everything to lose would you bring me my money and take from me all that I was worth cause I wasn't worth nothing and I wasn't yours oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay a while cause it's been too long since you been around sold out men from across the way he thought he heard what he heard you say hey now man your watch it shines for the bid of a moment yeilds 40 times oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay while don't you be a passerby oh don't won't you sit down and stay a while... cause it's been too long since you been around woman and little child don't you be a passerby I'm not crazy like my brother but it's the way I choose I don't hang around with a six pence when I got everything to lose would you bring me my money and take from me all that I was worth cause I wasn't worth nothing and I wasn't yours oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay a while cause it's been too long since you been around sold out men from across the way he thought he heard what he heard you say hey now man your watch it shines for the bid of a moment yeilds 40 times oh don't you be a passerby oh won't you sit down and stay while don't you be a passerby oh don't won't you sit down and stay a while... cause it's been too long since you been around woman and little child don't you be a passerby

BassFace Posted 3 May 2005 Share Posted 3 May 2005 Home by Depeche Mode I'll Fall With Your Knife by Peter Murphy They used mo make my cry during my goth days I think the Coldplay's "Don't Panic", Modest Mouse's "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine", and the Manu Chao's "Mr. Bobby" are the saddest songs I've ever heard. I think that the wail on "Invalid Litter Dept." by At the Drive-In is the only true rival to Bono's wail on "With or Without You".

muzzysgal Posted 12 January 2006 Share Posted 12 January 2006 I was surprised to see that two of mine have already been mentioned. We had three songs played at our daughter's funeral, and when I hear them, they set me off every time. Nationwider Posted 12 January 2006 Share Posted 12 January 2006 Ooberman - "Shorley Wall" It's a really sad song about a girl who commits suicide - there's this spoken bit at the end by the female vocalist and you can actually hear her voice cracking. Smiths - "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" gets me going a bit when I'm really p1ssed.

Lemon Harpic Posted 16 January 2006 Share Posted 16 January 2006 Some that get me that haven't already been mentioned... Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? - Moby Bedshaped - Keane Adagio For Strings - Samuel Berber On Your Own - The Verve Wide Open Space - Mansun Rabbit In Your Headlights - UNKLE ft Thom Yorke Out Of Time - Blur The music that always makes me cry is the slowed-down theme tune from 'Blackadder' played at the end of the fourth series, when Blackadder, Baldrick et al charged onto the battlefield and were mown down one by one, then they showed a field of poppies at the end. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.
