davieG Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1597157,00.html End of season.
davieG Posted 20 March 2009 Author Posted 20 March 2009 Ronnie Moore's a decent 'footballing' manager. I guess the 1 year contract is better news for him. The fact that he's gone to Tranmere and Sappleton's gone to Telford tells a story.
Samilktray Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 He'll go there for them to have a look at him over the next few weeks as opposed to playing him I'd imagine.
Matt Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Tranmere Rovers have signed Leicester City winger Robbie Burns on loan until the end of the season.Burns, 18, only signed his first professional contract with the Midlands club on Friday, having represented the reserve and youth sides this season. "He is a good young player, a tricky winger who will give us added options," said manager Ronnie Moore. "I'd like to thank Leicester manager Nigel Pearson for allowing him to come to us until the end of the season." Burns will wear the number 28 shirt and is available for Tranmere's game at Oldham Athletic on Saturday. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/7955552.stm
Thracian Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1597157,00.htmlEnd of season. Encouraging move for the lad. Burns has been a consistent goalscorer and goalmaker for the Academy and, although I've never seen him take matches by the scruff of the neck and dominate them he has shown a decent level of consistency and does seem to have a habit of making something happen in what is quite a young and still developing side. It will be interesting to see what impression he makes on Merseyside.
Cobbo Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Well, it'll be saying something about him if he gets a few games there. They're not a bad team by any stretch (as we found out).
Corky Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Hope he plays and makes an impression. Good to see Pearson is giving him a chance to try something different for a period, I actually wish he would do the same with others too (yes Thrac, that includes Porter, though I don't want to start another Porter debate).
Father Ted Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Very surprised by this move and really says something about Burns. If he was to even get one game there it would be a massive achievement. It says he got his proffesional contract on Friday, did anybody else get one?
pooleyLCFC Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Burns was an unused sub in Tranmere's 2-0 win over Oldham
wirralsimon Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Tranmere have three home games left this season, I will report back if he plays. He may be in with a shout though as Tranmere are very short of wingers. Danny Mayor (On loan from Preston) is injured and Chris Shuker is out for the season after breaking his arm in a fall at home. There is no money in the kitty for a senior pro to come in on loan so he may well get a run-out over the next few weeks. Good move for both clubs as Burns is nowhere near the first team at the moment. Simon
Thracian Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Burns was an unused sub in Tranmere's 2-0 win over Oldham I bet he loved that. Very useful to him.
Jimmy Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I bet he loved that. Very useful to him. it would of been, being involved with a 1st team squad is a massive step up from youth team football, not that you'll ever admit that
wirralsimon Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 He played all 90 mins of John Achteberg's testemonial last night against an Everton XI consisting of mainly youth team players.. Hard to reach a judgement as Tranmere were playing a weakened side and were poor collectively but he did OK and nearly scored with a cutrling shot to the top corner from an awkward position. Simon
Jimmy Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 came on as a sub in both their last 2 games, losing 3-1 to Leeds and drawing 1-1 with Yeovil
wirralsimon Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 He did OK on Saturday, but he does look a bit lightweight. It was an awful team performance from Tranmere so it was always going to be hard to shine. That said he is plainly not ready for the cut and thrust on the championship yet so sending him back to Tranmere for a longer loan next season could be in everybody's best interests. Simon
