Samilktray Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Any anglers on here? Watching Extreme Fishing with Robson Green every week has me inspired, fantastic looking sport. Anyone got any tales of the oceans? or rivers.
Uncle Albert Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Any anglers on here?Watching Extreme Fishing with Robson Green every week has me inspired, fantastic looking sport. Anyone got any tales of the oceans? or rivers. I used to be a keen Angler back in the day, used to take it stupidly seriously aswell. Went Linear Fisheries in Oxfordshire in the Autumn of 2004 and broke the Lake record of a 24.4 pound Carp. Was made up for weeks, sent it in to Angler's Mail and they didnt even put it in. I was in a mard for ages.

Tevez Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Does stabbing tadpoles with a stick count? How would you feel if someone poked you with a stick?
Simi Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 How would you feel if someone poked you with a stick? Depends who and where.

Uncle Monty Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Love this programme. Perhaps one of my favourites on telleh at the minute, series one was brilliant and this one seems equal to. The milk fish on tonights programme was cool.
Bert Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 I've always thought fishing might be good. I've never done it though, because I'd get seriously bored/pissed off and would probably come home smelling like a prostitutes minge.

Bert Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Not for you then eh More than likely not. But until I've tried it, I can't really say for sure. Maybe One day I'll have a bash.
Tommeh Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 I've always thought fishing might be good. I've never done it though, because I'd get seriously bored/pissed off and would probably come home smelling like a prostitutes minge. That's exactly my take on it. We'll let Shingler Guru this one up.
Alexikokopops Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 It's always struck me as one of the most boring things ever.
BoneDog Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 I went swimmin in pike infested waters a few times when I was 14, but never got ripped up. I went fishing with me mates in 1990 a few times at night with them illuminous float things. Last time I went I was pissin about on the bank while me mates were lookin out the tents and I fell in the lake so I walked home in a mardy and never went again. Only went in the first place for some night cans n camp-fire sausages n potatoes wi the lads. Not for the fishin. Fishing is a good laugh if you don't just go to sit and catch fish. Especially at night. When we used to go there was this bloke who used to come down the lake at about 3 in the morn and take his clothes off and swim a few lengths and then fook off. When you're 15/16 that kind of shit makes you wonder what the frick is goin on. But their's allsorts of mentalists round the estate innit
Sparky Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 It's always struck me as one of the most boring things ever. Thats pretty much my take on it
Zingari Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 my experieces of fishing amount to no more than drowning a few unfortunate worms
Floating Fox Posted 25 March 2009 Posted 25 March 2009 It's always struck me as one of the most boring things ever. I seriously agree with this. You spend all day trying to out wit a fish, and then when you do, you throw the bloody thing back in. Never understood it myself.
fox123 Posted 25 March 2009 Posted 25 March 2009 I went sea fishing for Pollock once, all I caught was half a bucket of sea weed and a crab, I don't thing I was supposed to be ledgering!
broughtonblue Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 thought i would revive this to see if anyone on here goes fishing. i used to go a lot about 15 years ago and am considering starting again. just wondering if any of you are members of clubs or what/where are your favourite waters?
MPH Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Went deep sea fishing a few years ago with the lads when in Wales one year. ( we were doing a disabled childrens camp and so had a spare day when they had all gone home...) Told by the captain of the boat we were off to get some mackeral. We struck up a littlle thing that every fish that was caught had to be passed round for the lads for us to kiss it on the lips when wiggling around in your hand an everything.. Sounds so childish speaking of it now... Then some bright spark came up with the idea that whoever caught the least amount of fish had to eat a bowl of fish eyes from the BBQ after we got back to the camp. Everyone agreed and the deal was struck. Yes. My idea and i caught the least amount of fish.
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I've tried fishing three times and I shan't be doing it again. Fishing Incident Number 1 - tried fishing off Bembridge beach. Lost my wallet with £70 in it. Fishing Incident Number 2 - tried fishing off Shanklin beach using squid for bait. Didn't put enough weight on the line and a seagull swooped down for the squid but caught the hook in it's beak and flew off with me trying to reel it in. It was a combination of fishing and seagull kite flying. Fishing Incident Number 3 - took the kids out on our boat fishing in the Solent between Cowes and Ryde. Got the prop caught up in a lobster pot bouy. I had to get into the sea to unravel the rope from the leg/prop whilst the kids were screaming that we were going to sink and drown. I don't do fishing anymore.
