davieG Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Manager Nigel Pearson is calling for cool heads for Leicester City's last six games of the League One season. Saturday's 2-0 defeat at second-placed Peterborough means City's lead is down to four points and it has undoubtedly increased the pressure. But Pearson said: "It is important to stay calm whether we win, lose or draw and we have to make sure we continue to do that." It does look as though it is a case of promotion being delayed rather than cancelled. Indeed, the bookmakers seem to think City are virtually over the finishing line. City are quoted at odds of around 1-6 to clinch the title with Peterborough at 9-1 and Millwall 20-1. document.getElementById('article-detail-impact-tile').innerHTML = document.getElementById('INVarticle-detail-impact-tile').innerHTML;document.getElementById('INVarticle-detail-impact-tile').innerHTML = ''; Peterborough's triumph and Millwall's last-gasp win at Crewe will maintain the belief in their ranks. But, even after the victory, Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson hailed City as overwhelming favourites, saying: "Leicester are four points clear with six games to go so that obviously makes them the favourites." Pearson said: "That was kind of him to say so but ultimately it is about us getting over the line ourselves and we have to do enough. "Peterborough are on a good run. "We have had some mixed form, but it is where you are in May that matters. "We have done very well to put ourselves in this position and I am not going to dwell on negatives." Pearson said of the defeat: "They were the better side. I think in the first half we played reasonably well to keep them at arm's length then conceded a poor goal just before half-time. "It was a disappointing result and one that will create a lot of interest now that the gap has been reduced. "I have said before there will be twists and turns before the end of the season and it is about dealing with them. "It was not a good day for us but we look to the next one."
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Hey, cool is my default setting and I see no reason to change!
Dr The Singh Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Hey, cool is my default setting and I see no reason to change! These are happy days and your are the Fonze!!!!
Fox92 Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 I'm cool What does everyone think? Leicester; Carlisle Home - 3 points for us Hereford Away - 1 point Leeds Home - 1 point Southend Away - 1 point S****horpe Home - 3 points for us Crewe Away - Crewe win In total: 9 points Leicester, expect anything. Posh; Oldham Away - 1 point Cheltenham Home - 3 points for Peterborough Millwall Away - Millwall win Stockport Home - 3 points for Peterborough Colchester Away - 1 point Swindon Home - 1 point In total: 9 points To be honest, there away games are all hard in Oldham, Millwall and Colchester. Their home games, got to be wins. Could see Swindon nicking a point. If my predictions are correct, then we are champions! Then again, if my predictions are the real life scores then I will jump into the Chesterfield canal in town singing life on mars by David Bowie.

fox123 Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Get on it, with your luck in the £1-£100 challenge it surely can't win

waccoe1975 Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Posh will be champions. We will be 2nd and wall in the playoffs. You lot will be remembered for blowing the biggest lead in history. Crisp eating, big eared bottlers.
James. Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Crisp eating, big eared bottlers. Worst insult ever.

Crisp eating, big eared bottlers. We're just struggling at the moment cos everyone's raising their games against us. We're everyone's cup final. I hate it how Colchester come here and play out of their skin and then get beat 3-0 by Tinpot Scunthorpe. We don't deserve to be in this league, we're fucking massive.
waccoe1975 Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 We're just struggling at the moment cos everyone's raising their games against us. Join the club. We've had it all last season and this season. Thing is now we've finally learned to deal with it under Grayson where as you seem to be less capable. Lets hope It's not to late for you to throw it away.

waccoe1975 Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 How did you do in the play-offs last year? Very good. I don't like to pull macca down because he was a great player for us but he clearly was not management material. This season will be different under a more experienced man.

Ford Super Sunday Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Do we have a WUM from Leeds on the forum? Welcome Old Big Ead... seems Cloughs confidence/arrogance rubbed off on all Leeds fans... shame he was there 44 days... if he had benn there longer he might have turned you from a dirty, club of violent scum bags, to a good footballing side that actually could have won the European Cup. Still... nothing wrong with still being a club of stinking vile violent scumbages eh... at least it makes you disliked. Oh and we know that me might go and blow it... however, I would rather be in this position now, than scrabbling for the top two, and looking to go up via the play-offs. Enjoy the season

Corky Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Thing is, I bet we are far more nervous than the players and management. That does nothing for my nerves, but hopefully they'll pull it out of the bag from now on. I don't care if we win every game 1-0 from now until May, I just want to go up.
sir_bob Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Except I was joking, I can admit we're just not playing well enough at the minute. I can't wait for the 13th Having not been here long my irony-meter wasn't charged up. Bravo sir.
Mark II Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Peterborough 9-1???Got to be worth a punt, surely. Where abouts are those odds? Wouldn't mind a bit of that. Would surely jinx them too if I did have a bet!!
maddog Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Nigel telling us to 'stay cool' tells me that he isn't staying cool. He's clearly worried or i don't think he would be coming out with this. Its a message to the fans but its also a message to himself, his managerial career will suffer a fooking HUGE blow should we end up not going up. Where as if we win the League, he will go down in Leicester managerial history, and surely be offered a Premiership job if one came avaliable. After all Ince got the Blackburn job, Megson the Bolton job, Kinnear the Newcastle job, Southgate got the Middlesbrough job, and Pearson has managed in the Premiership before briefly with West Brom, Newcastle and been in the England set up, and done well. I don't know how long Pearsons contract is, but im guessing a least 2 seasons left after this one, and it would be an awesome achievement for Milan if we can keep him for the duration of his current deal, and beyond.
C-man Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Nigel telling us to 'stay cool' tells me that he isn't staying cool. Why? If he came out and said 'Start shitting yourselves lads and lasses, we're fucking shit', would that give you more confidence?
James. Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Where abouts are those odds? Wouldn't mind a bit of that. Would surely jinx them too if I did have a bet!! When I checked HERE they are at 9-2. Still not a bad punt if you ask me.
