Jordan Posted 10 October 2012 Posted 10 October 2012 Got dem spider bags! Got dat WMD! I've actually only watched the first three seasons, but I've got the complete series on DVD and will be looking to plow through the last two when I've got a bit more time on my hands.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 October 2012 Posted 10 October 2012 Been re-watching all the seasons, you forget how good they actually are especially series 1 and 3 they are the best for me.
Ozwin Posted 10 October 2012 Posted 10 October 2012 I can't justify spending a month of my life watching all this again, such an investment.
stix Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 I've just started season 3. Seeing this thread pop up has persuaded me to switch the xbox off & watch a couple of episodes.
Guest MattP Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 sHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Might do the same and go through the box set again of this, was brilliant.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 I can't justify spending a month of my life watching all this again, such an investment. Didn't realise re-watching had to be done on specific time lines
MooseBreath Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 I've just finished watching the whole thing for the 2nd time. Was well worth the effort.
OzFox Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 It's taken me about three months to watch the first four series, so I don't think I'll be watching it twice. Bloody brilliant series though.

Bloody brilliant series though. Yeah bought the 5 full seasons on DVD for my missus birthday, she unwrapped it on Aug 3 and we'll be watching the last episode on Friday, over 2 months. Great as it is I wont be in a hurry to watch it again. Ordered the Walking Dead which is up next.
Ozwin Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 Didn't realise re-watching had to be done on specific time lines Well a month is about right, if you take longer then you just forget stuff and lose interest.

People at work assure me Sopranos is even better than the Wire.
Guest MattP Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 Boardwalk Empire for me, followed by Sopranos. People at work assure me Sopranos is even better than the Wire. I've watched both and Sopranos does beat out The Wire, probably the greatest things I've watched. Both fantastic though.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 Sorpranos is really good but The Wire for me wins out.
Ozwin Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 It is like choosing your favorite child. They are both incredible, in fact throw in Six Feet Under (another HBO show no less) and you'll be rotating your favorite every month.

MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 I tried to watch the soprano's after the wire and didn't really get it. The storyline doesn't seem to evolve, each episode is has its own beginning and conclusion and then it starts again the next episode. It's a bit like friends or the Simpson's in that respect and I got the sense that once I'd seen the first three episodes i'd seen them all. It felt like a light hearted generic comedy drama in comparison to the wire. Maybe I should give it another chance.

I suggest you give it another chance my friend, based on your description I think you have seriously misjudged it "light hearted" - Really?? For me, The Wire & The Sopranos are just about equal in terms of (extremely high) quality, Sopranos just shades it for me as the genre is perhaps my favourite. I highly doubt there will ever be a show as good as these 2.
Soup Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Just started watching The Wire again for the umpteenth time, due to TV being awful at the minute.I've gotta say the final episode of season 2 is simply the best piece of TV I've ever seen. For real...
Merging Cultures Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I did enjoy watching the wire, I don't miss living in it!
Soup Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I did enjoy watching the wire, I don't miss living in it! It didn't come across the best city, but always thought about maybe visiting for a few days if i'm ever on the east coast.

foxoffderby Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I've just got into it, yes i'm so late. Just started series 4 Fantastic worth the hype gutted when Stringer died.
