Koke Posted 12 May 2009 Author Posted 12 May 2009 That female detective that works with Moreland and our Lisa were separated at birth I can't re-call her name though.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Didn't think it warranted a new thread but The Wire is finally getting shown on British terrestrial tonight. It's the first series, from 2002 (?) I think, on BBC2 at 11:20. If no one has seen this show before, seriously, give it a watch. You'll turn off after 20 minutes or be hooked for life.
Guest Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 That female detective that works with Moreland and our Lisa were separated at birth I can't re-call her name though. You're the second person to say that, if it's the same character of course.
RedHux Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 You're the second person to say that, if it's the same character of course. Beadie?
Guest Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Beadie? That's the one Bellend Sebastian said I look like! I've got more lookalikes than I've had hot dinners, according to the posters on this forum!!
General Smuts Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Loved the first series - was hooked on that shit. Can't bring myself to start on the 2nd series yet cos i don't have the time. Same reason i've put off starting the newest series of 24.
James. Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Finished the 1st series last night. Insanely good. Just ordered series 2 off Amazon which is apparently even better.
General Smuts Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Keep meaning to check this out online and i've had the series link in my favourites for months. If its on bbc 2 atm i may have to check this badboy out on iPlayer. Glad i did. Finished the 1st series last night. Insanely good. Just ordered series 2 off Amazon which is apparently even better. I remember being told that every series manages to be better than the last.
Koke Posted 13 May 2009 Author Posted 13 May 2009 That's the one Bellend Sebastian said I look like!I've got more lookalikes than I've had hot dinners, according to the posters on this forum!! Admit it. You look exactly like her. Never knew Sebastian spotted it before me.
MauriceJobson Posted 11 July 2009 Posted 11 July 2009 Has anyone ever seen Lloyd Dyer and Lieutenant Daniels in the same room together?
Guest ttfn Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Literally incredible television. On series 3, and it seems to get better with each passing episode - some fantastic characters - Bunk, Daniels and Omar to name but 3. And that's before we get to McNulty.
sdb Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Bought the box set a couple of weeks ago, trying to watch 1 a night. Just started series 2. It's too good!! What are people's fave series'? I can't imagine S1 being topped! Love McNulty - can't believe his real voice though. Few English actors in there.

Love McNulty - can't believe his real voice though. Few English actors in there. Series 4 for me. Stringer is the man! I am glad the actor's got his own cop programme on the BBC soon. The only telly thing I enjoy as much is True Blood which is pretty much on the other scale. Although I have been tipped to get Breaking Bad. Oh yeah....there's Spiral too, a French drama similar to The Wire.
Shrenchel Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Stringer used to be in popular teatime soap Family Affairs on Channel 5. I seen him at Paddington once when I was about 13 and shouted Tim (that was the name of his character in it, I've always had good chat like that). He actually looked pretty pleased someone had recognised him and came and shook my hand. Gully.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I like Season 4 the best. I was a tiny bit disappointed by Season 5, but I think that's just because Season 4 was such a hard act to follow, and in fairness the end of it is still pretty good and in keeping with the rest of the show - it doesn't suddenly go all corny and sentimental or anything daft like that. I know I've said this before but it just makes everything else look so shit
Bellend Sebastian Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 Starts again from the top on the FX Channel on 6th April, bitches. Don't miss out if you've never seen it
Ric Flair Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 Best series ever made bar Auf Wiedersehen Pet. There is no way we could produce anything as good as The Wire in this current climate. Breaking Bad is a decent gig an'all, been rifling through about 3 of those a night at the minute.
dave the caveman Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 Finished season four a couple of weeks ago. Been told that season five is not even worth watching but I probably will anyway. Across the seasons, the occasional scenes where they just let a music track roll for two or three minutes while showing various scenes from daily life in the city are just beautiful pieces of television. Difficult to say which is my favourite, they've all got their charms including season two which I think is underrated.
Ozwin Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Finished season four a couple of weeks ago. Been told that season five is not even worth watching but I probably will anyway. Whoever told you that is obviously retarded then. It's hardly a bad season, people just don't like how everything gets sewn together so quickly, if you put it against something like Lost's final season it's a fvcking masterpiece.
Finnegan Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 I like season five, there's some decent characters in it and I think it concludes most things pretty well. I'd say it's better than season two, to be fair, though it's not one the best. The last episode has some brilliant moments. Oh, and having never read this thread before today, the very first time I saw Beadie Russel I had to rewind and watch it again because I thought it WAS Lisoh.
