StanSP Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 That's strange - don't they normally ask the judges for their votes in an order so as the last one has the casting vote? Maybe they guessed Amanda would go for the little kid, like always Nah not always. Maybe. But I thought they were both pretty good. And agree with what Simon said about the kid having more of a shot in future.
Ultra Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 In my humble opinion all these "talent" contests are meaningless and worthless and should never be taken seriously. It diminishes the work done by struggling artists who are the real forgotten talents of the music and entertainment industry. Secondly, it's cheap TV! It is the modern day equivalent of the 'opium of the people'. I really believe that we are all being manipulated by the by the TV companies who seemed to be staffed by young small brained, foul mouthed, evil fascists. I guess if you think that this sort of show passes for entertainment then your low horizons won't be worried. It's what American TV has been for years. Mindless pap! Those who spend money voting are the same ones who now pay over £1 for a greeting card or buy a tin of fizzy drink at a silly price - no head for figures and seduced by peer presure. This.
The Birch Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 That's a bit harsh. The saxophone guy last night was brilliant. It's so hard to make good money as a professional musician so I have a lot of respect for him for trying something different. he has a great talent and now he is able to give a lot of people pleasure instead of just a small minority. The dance groups are similar. Very talented young people doing something constructive with their lives and enjoying it in the process. That's to be admired, not ridiculed. I agree that many people go on here obssessed with the celebrity culture but these are more often than not found out in the selection process and what you are left with are ordinary, hard working, talented people who just want to bring their talent to a wider audience. Also, in response to l444ry it's harmless TV entertainment. I see nothing wrong with it. If you want something serious and depressing watch the news. I agree, I am getting fed up with the dance groups though. I hate and love this show at the same time, some parts are just cringeworthy like Darth Vader and that drag queen but some people on it are actually genuine and have a talent and are not in it just for a moment of fame. I usually record it so I can fast forward all the crap I don't want to watch and most of the stuff the judges say. I hate all the media hype though and I think the public are too easily influenced by the judgesa nd how people are presented on the show.
lavrentis Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Again, thats why they shouldn't let young kids on. Poor kids devastated.
Nugent Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Whoops. 14 should be the cut-off age. She'll probably still end up going through.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 That was really uncomfortable viewing, the poor kid will be scarred by that for years. Agree with the comments about age, a live show in front of millions is too much pressure for a 10 year old.
ousefox Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Definately needs to be a cut off age. I hope she doesn't crumble again if they let her do it again.
Milky Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 "you can to do it again" *Calm* "...actually the producer says no" *WAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAA* "Don't cry we'll find time for you" *Calm*
Mr Happy Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Is it bad if I secretly want her to break down crying again
Mr Happy Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 No doubt she got a general vote of sympathy from the braindead/washed british public Although she is quite talented I have to say.
Benji Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Luckily for her the others were very poor tonight, fair play for wanting to have another go though!
Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 No doubt she got a general vote of sympathy from the braindead/washed british public Although she is quite talented I have to say. In all fairness, even without the first attempt, her performance in the second probably gave her a place in the final on merit. Though she is probably still emotionally scarred and will be in rehab by the time she's 18 after years of bullying at school. I'm a cup half empty kind of guy.

Big Ol' Bob Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Hang on, the other day when that Welsh bloke was singing he was told if you cannot handle the nerves on stage then you are in the wrong business. So why did everyone have to pussyfoot around after that spoilt little brat and let her sing again. I shall not be watching the final now. Bugger the lot of ya.

I was still afraid of the dark when I was 10!!
StanSP Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Even though she screwed up first time, it was still actually pretty good up to the point that she did. ANd then even better the second time round so it's deserved that she went through. Piers and Amanda are really starting to get on my neerves as well. They need to understand that the show is called Britain's Got TALENT not Britain's Got Entertainment. Just because that Martin Matcham guy had fucking lights on his guitar doesn't make him a good guitarist. Simon is the only one who actually tells the truth and puts it straight to each contestant.
