Alexikokopops Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 Plans to stop and possibly abandon games if it happens Plus Juventus have been ordered to play their next home game behind closed doors after supporters racially abused after Mario Balotelli when they played Inter on Saturday. Sends out a bit more of a message to the fans than a poxy fine against the club at least
Fosse Boy Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 I bet they'll bottle it if it's an Eastern European nation's fans chanting against black English players.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 Even more remarkable when you think that Balotelli has represented Italy.
Darkzzz_ Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 It is one thing that annoys me about Serie A. Juve have black players themselves. Absolute disgrace and no place for it in the game, I don't care how much I bum Serie A, this sickens me!!
dandannieldanok Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 Terrible, you can say all you like about British football nowadays but at least racism towards players has almost disappeared for good. On a side note I'd love to see Balotelli come to the Premier League. I don't normally get to see a lot of foreign football but I've seen a lot of Serie A this season and he's always impressed me.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 I bet they'll bottle it if it's an Eastern European nation's fans chanting against black English players. This. Not just in Eastern Europe though, racism is pretty much endemic in Spanish and Italian football. No way would UEFA do anything to upset these angels though, hooliganism is still the 'English disease' in UEFA's corridors of power. I'll believe it when I see it.
Darkzzz_ Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 There are elements of it still in the English game, not anywhere near as bad as Italy and Spain but it happens still. My girlfriends cousin is a Liverpool fan and said she would never go and watch them again because of the racism she heard by a few people a couple of years back.
Raj Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 I was called a paki bastard fook off back to your own country wog niger coon. Not all in the same sentance though....

Podge Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 The thing about this is i can see fans of teams using it to get games stopped if their team is losing. I could especially see this happening in Eastern Europe and possibly Italy aswell.

I would suggest saying that any game that has to be stopped due to racist chanting will result in a 3-0 loss for the guilty team. I believe there are already some circumstances where this can be enforced, largely for offences such as forfeiture (too many players being sent off for the game to continue).

It's a good idea but what if a bunch of fans pose as their opposition's fans (sitting in the away end) and start racist chanting and get that team a 3-0 loss? If you understand what i mean
C-man Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 I can't see any end to racial abuse in Europe. Every so often when you think it's getting better, there's another incident that the media is all over but nothing is done about it. This is just UEFA talking shit again.
Koke Posted 22 April 2009 Posted 22 April 2009 Moratti is a hypocritical bastard. The silence from him was deafening when Inter fans were racially abusing Marco Zoro few years ago. And now he's in uproar because one of his own players are on the receiving end. They are all as bad as each other, Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Roma etc. When Spurs fans racially abused Sol Campbell, there was a nationwide condemnation and the responsible individuals were identified and punished immediately with lifelong bans from all stadiums. Italy do not go to such length, thus this problem will be everlasting for them. England is far more civilized footballing nation than Spain, Italy and Eastern Europe, which is one thing people here should be immensely proud of. There's zero tolerance when it comes to racism in football.
Floating Fox Posted 22 April 2009 Posted 22 April 2009 Well unless they are planning to stop virtually every other match in Europe then I can't see it happening. There was one small element of it when I watched Mancity Hamburg last week. It won't happen. Moratti is a hypocritical bastard. There's zero tolerance when it comes to racism in football. True that, although I wouldn't say it is zero tolerance here. There are some who don't give a shit. Moratti is one person who most Italians hate, along with Moggi who was at Juve, they have given football such a bad name the world over. I swear if my missus could she would kill them both, she obviously hates Moggi more because of what he done to Juve in the match fixing scandal. It isn't fair on the real fans that actually want to watch their team for the football, the police seem to do nothing about it because they are more than likely in on it, although I must say when I went to watch Napoli play that game was very well policed, better than I thought it would be. We have ceratainly done a lot more than the Europe to stamp this out of our game but as others have said, It will never fully disappear, some people will never stop. I just don't want to be near any of them that do it.

There are one or two isolated individual incidents, but nothing as bas as we see in Europe. Last year I watching Sunderland v Fulham at Stadium of Light, and Kenwyne Jones was on the receiving end by a Fulham fan next to us. Everyone turned around to him, he got reported to the stewards and was taken away straight away. I call that zero tolerance. It hasn't disappeared all together, but this is as close as we'll get. The Ultras still believe they have done nothing wrong. Ultras to Balotelli: "We're not racist" Tuesday 21 April, 2009The Juventus ultras group Drughi have released a statement explaining why their insults towards Mario Balotelli “were not racism and we won’t apologise.” The club has been hit by a one-match ban behind closed doors after supporters in the Curva Filadelfia repeatedly hurled racist insults at Inter striker Balotelli during Saturday’s 1-1 draw. Juve released a statement apologising for this behaviour, but now the Drughi Ultras have issued their own Press release. “We will not apologise to Balotelli, because the chants against him were a response to his provocation and general attitude on the pitch and not with regards to his origins,” announced the Drughi-Juventus Club Curva Filadelfia. “This is evident by the fact that his teammates Patrick Vieira and Sulley Muntari were not even jeered at all. “For years now in almost every stadium Juve are greeted by chants of ‘Liverpool, Liverpool’, while the names of (deceased former players) Gaetano Scirea, Riccardo Neri, Alessio Ferramosca and Daniele Fortunato have been used and abused in every conceivable way, yet the media was never indignant about that. “Racism is nothing to do with this and it was only a way, albeit debatable, to make our opponent lose his concentration,” insisted the Drughi group of fans. “We would like to point out in our squad is an ‘ebony icon’ Momo Sissoko, who we hold in our hearts and are proud that he wears our shirt. “This is why we do not feel the need to apologise. Juve-Lecce will be played behind closed doors because it had already been decided. “Instead of a lesson in efficiency and because you cannot warn an entire stadium, the authorities opted for the radical solution.” channel 4 And SUAS, it was homophobic abuse aimed at Sol wasn't it? I got my wired crossed

I can see why a lot of people hate Liverpool fans. They seem to get away with everything. They think they are angels. I could ramble about them but I wouldn't want to offend anyone so I shall leave it. I once witnessed it at the Walkers too, It was a few seasons back and there was a young lad next to me, must have been 12, some chavs behind me must have been about 16-18 were calling him all sorts. The young lad looked terrified. I told him to sit the otherside of me and when I left I reported the incident because it was disgusting. I heard nothing back. But just overlooked at as a one off, I haven't heard any elements like that again, thankfully.

I came across monkey noises at Vale-Bury from Bury fans. Vale had a black left-back - only black in their team, Bury have Efe Sodje! Makes you realise how far generally Leicester is in comparison to elsewhere in the UK.

That is one thing I don't understand when you have a black player in your team and you make these racist chants. You have to be thick don't you?
CosbehFox Posted 22 April 2009 Posted 22 April 2009 I know racism still exists in Leicester but such a public show would never happen. It generally stays behind closed doors. They are utter muppets the people in the example, if only for putting their freedom at watching Bury play at risk.

I've never understood the logic behind that. Juventus fans love Mohamed Sissoko and you can't get any blacker than Sissoko, but they are racially abusing Mario Balotelli

Theres plenty of racism in Leicester........ sadly most of it in my feckin office at work... I spent most days having a rage! We had to endure some bigotted twat at the replay Lcfc - Forest Cup game (the one after CC had his heart attack) I had my son with me who was 16 at the time and this idiot was racially abusing any of our black players and when I told him to shut up starting on me and my Son (verbally. ) I reported it to a steward at half time and within a few mins she was stood at the end of our aisle obviously keepin an eye on him .... he carried on with it and ten mins later he was taken by a copper to the cells. They then came and fetched me to make a statement and there was another guy there who had been sat next to my Son as he had been so disgusted at what hed heard he had complained as well. Got my statement and details taken and got a follow up phone call the next day from NFFC to see if we were both alright and re-assuring me that they had a zero tolerance on racism and he would never be allowed in their ground again. Few months later got a call from Nottinghamshire Police liason tellin me the outcome of his court case... he got found guilty, fined and banned and also had to surrender his passport when England played away for 5 years. I was really impressed with the way NFFC dealt with it and the police and couldnt have asked for more. Pity theres a few idiots left but generally city fans dont do this
