Foxy1984 Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Presentation live on SSN in a minute. So proud. Well done lads
Koke Posted 24 April 2009 Author Posted 24 April 2009 Indeed. Nigel has done a tremendous job and managed to turn things around and get us back at first attempt.
Pegosteve Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 LCFC tour of League 1 is over thank god for that. What a tremendous achievement not many teams bounce back from this league at first attempt.
Libertine Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Good enough for me. As long as we didn't lose I'd be happy.
Koke Posted 24 April 2009 Author Posted 24 April 2009 Watching SSN as we speak. Paul Dickov is being interviewed and looking at the background everyone seems to be having one hell of a party.
Wycombe Fox Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 This takes me back to 1980 when I stood in the kop at Filbo having just beaten Charlton 2-0 - the last time we won a league title. Straight after the game I went to the club shop and bought a replica home shirt. It's in a drawer in my bedroom and my 11 year-old wanted me to wear it at Southend last week. Sadly it doesn't exactly fit at the moment! I think I'm three stones heavier now!

Think this has been as good as anything we have won.
Wycombe Fox Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Remember it well. Think this has been as good as anything we have won. It feels very similar. Back end of the 70's we had Dr. Doolittle (sorry, I meant Frank McLintock) as manager. We were going nowhere and needed a clear out. We were deadwood. The last few years we've been on a slippery slope. Nigel Pearson, Milan Mandaric and the players have turned it around just like Jock Wallace (RIP) did. Chuffed to bits.
CockneyFox Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Tom Cleverley just interviewed by Stringer, sounds like he would like to come back next season...
Wycombe Fox Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 I know the lad gets some stick on here but maddog touched upon a very valid point earlier in the week. We are going into the second tier of English football on a high for the first time ever. Previously we've only ever gone into the second tier following relegation. This time we're doing it via promotion. Hopefully we can carry the winning mentality through to 09/10.
Koke Posted 24 April 2009 Author Posted 24 April 2009 Top of the table since November!!! Ironically after we beat Scunneh at their place we went above them and stayed top ever since. By far the most consistence team in the league. Going into the Championship with a winning mentality and team spirit and togetherness created by Nigel is immensely important.
Suffolk_fox Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Loving the SSNLove in at the moment. Go party guys!!
Wycombe Fox Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 I ****ing love Leicester City! 42 years supporting them, massive ups and downs, and I wouldn't change a thing! I've got four sons, three have no interest in football, and my youngest is a massive City fan and is on Bournemouth's books. I'd love to see him play for City - he's got a beautiful left foot!

These are the moments we live for. It's one of those nights where you realize why you a football supporter, more importantly a Leicester City supporter. Love the SSN love-in at the moment.

Legend_in_blue Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Just got back from the game. Great celebrations at the end - loved it. It felt a lot like the Hillsborough replay celebrations. Congrats to the opposition too btw. I thought they were pretty strong, even if we didn't give too much of an effort second half. Worth a punt to win the playoffs I reckon. Should they make it.
Joe. Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Nice to finally see us lift the trophy, although last week was definitely where the proper party was at. Not like it matters, but we played alright first half and deserved the lead at half-time, but we were pretty poor second. Oh, and Chris Powell remains a god amongst men.
Webbo Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Just back, we were piss poor but that doesn't really matter. If you can't enjoy nights like that then you shouldn't be a fan. L1 was full of people I'd never seen before singing 'where were you when we were shit'.
davieG Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Well that was surreal for most of the 1st half it was like watching a friendly or perhaps a testimonial with 30k watching it. It didn't look like either team was too fussed about winning or not. Changed a bit in the 2nd half after they equalised and then went ahead but both teams defences looked pretty poor to me. Pleased we at least got a draw, delighted that we're champions but have to say I'm not much for orchestrated celebrations which I didn't think were that well organised or communicated anyway ditto the penalty shoot out.
