That's Bendter coming in on loan then.

Were there any other strikers in the Arsenal Academy who fit the Bendter mold? We're in need of a physical presence up front in addition to Howard so it'd be interesting to know if there was somone who fits the bill. :dunno:

Benik Afobe is quite a prolific forward, meant to be powerful too. Inducted intot he Under 18s a year early becasue of his record from what I've gathered on the internet. He's only recently turned 16 though, I'm sure there'll be a clause somewhere saying that he can't be loaned out at that age, and he probably won't be ready for Championship level football that early anyway.

Gilles Sunu is a player I know abit more about. He's a big unit, very strong, and has been amongst the goals for the youths / reserves. According to a site I'm on he's known for psyhical and hard working displays.

Rhys Murphy is a goal getter as well.

Sounds like my kind of guy!

Arsene Wenger only loans players out when they are on there last chance at Arsenal.

Very rarely does a player go back to Arsenal after a loan spell, unless they have a great season.

So don't expect any name that's been too close to the first team.

But any of the Arsenal reserves will still be a decent signing.

Bentdner? Djourou?

Are they a better bet than giving Billy Kee a chance to develop?

From my (Football Manager ) knowledge, you can't go on loan until you're 17.

From my FM knowledge  It was players on youth contracts cannot be loaned out. Is 17 the minimum age to sign a professional contract then?

There's a few mentioned on here who we ain't got a hope of getting : Gibbs, Ramsey and particularly Vela ( :giggle: ) but of the rest, Wilshere would be bloody fantastic!

He does seem to use the loan system to build up the reputations of the players that are not going to make it at Arsenal so that he can get a fee for them. I think he wants the best of them so they can keep traning the Arsenal way.

Doesn't mean there isn't some good quality talent available though. You could build up a good Championship side with the players Arsenal have had in their youth system but have gone on to play for other sides. Sidwell, Larrson, Upson, Taylor, Bentley, Jerome Thomas e.t.c.

Yes.

Not convinced. We were the best bet in L1 last season, so the Prem teams were happy to loan to us the players they felt where at that level - we were top of the list. Next season they will be looking to loan players they think are of Championship quality, and we will not be at the top of the list of willing clubs. Could be harder than we think to pick up any quality this way.

You are wrong. They will loan to places that they believe will give them the best chance to develop and from what I understand, Pearson is highly thought of from that respect. Bar Newcastle there isn't anybody bigger than us in the Championship anyway. Us, Derby, Ipswich etc are all much of a muchness. They will also know that if they come to us they will more than likely get game time which is the point of loaning.

We will see. If we sign the players we had on loan this season plus 6 more, then it is not so likely that new loanees get a game is it? I think it is going to be harder than last season to attract loanees who are up to it.

Gilbert will likely of been asked for his opinion of us as a club and the set up by Wenger and he'll take that into account before loaning players, also the players themselves could well ask him what its like here and then pick us over another option

From a decent source, Gilbert will come back to City next season either as a signing or on loan and Wenger is so impressed with the City Youth policy and the way we use loanees we are going to get at least the offer of 2 more Loanees next season. Feck it, we are going up i said we are going up. ;0) :scarf:

Hey man, you are plain crazy.

Going to the Premiership! Not next season, thats for sure. Unless we get BIG money we will be in the Championship for years. More chance of going back down than up.

Agreed. I don't see why we shouldn't aim high but at the same time just staying up has to be the goal. We've had a good year in league 1 but even in this division for some time it's felt like we've been treading water and winning purely because it's...well..league 1! We definately need to strenghten across the squad - 2 new strikers to support howard and fryatt as the likes of dickov just won't do. I'm less than convinced about dyer and gradel at championship level although hope to be proven wrong. our midfield is no stronger in the centre than when we got relegated and somebody with a bit of spark who can beat a player and play a killer ball is required. central defence is pretty tight but both full back positions need to be filled. and goalkeeper, well clearly two new keepers required one of high quality and a younger guy as understudy.

If arsenal really do look at us favourably then we're in a position in the chapionship to pick up higher quality players from then who need a game - I really don't see that Aaron Ramsey is unachievable if we look for short term loans with a view to longer loans. He's not going to break into the Arsenal team straight away and so coming here with a shout of a game would be good for him and us for a few months.

A little bit negative? Look at last 2 seasons - Bristol City, up from league 1 in 2nd with 85 pts, one match from Premiership

Swansea, up with 92 pts, 6 points off play-offs, many pundits' most attractive team in the league.

We got 96pts and, I'd guess, a good deal better resources than either of them

Fran Merida please

Probably too much fm09 again, as he ended up being worth £6mil XD

Agreed. We have the momentum AND the resources to push on next season.

Dont get me wrong, I dont want to be negative. The Championship however is becoming a tougher league to be in each year. What I am saying is that if we really do want to get into the Premiership within the next few seasons, then we need to be investing in the best possible players, and not just sitting back and watching last season success melting away. We all know what happened the season before. If we dont start thinking like this, well, it will be the jolly old slide downwards.

Absolutely agree.

There's been far too much short-termism at this club for years in terms of bringing in players en masse without appearing to have a masterplan. We've suffered year after year where the team gets meddled with and players brought in who are rarely worth their wages. To be fair this isn't just a problem at Leicester but it's still something we need to think about.

As I said earlier, we do need to bring in a number of players to fill several positions but this shouldn't mean not aiming to buy players who can potentially hold down those positions for years to come and look upon as players who could make it in the Premiership. We don't need Championship outcasts we need plaers surpluss to requirements in the Premiership but who can be brought in with a view to keeping once (if) we make it there in the next few years.
