MPH Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Harsh photo to use.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...15875-21344566/ ok, until i saw some sort of evidence that this was genuine i thought it was too good to be true.. If we can get this guy then that will be absolutely and i mean ABSOLUTELY amazing... played in the prem, 6ft 4, 24 years old... and i didnt think he did too bad for them either. Absolute quality signing if we can get him.. MM + Big Nige together = great combination And of course hats off to Steve Walsh for all his hard work...
Father Ted Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 This would be a cracking signing. He really impressed me when he was regularly playing earlier in the season and to even be linked with a player like him shows Pearson and MM's ambitions.
MPH Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 If the Sky report is correct we won't be signing him, some big clubs sniffing about. we know how to sell people a contract. He can either go to somewhere like chelsea and play 2nd or even 3rd fiddle or come to Leicester, play regular football and maybe a release clause if we dont make it to the prem. He obviously wants first team football or he wouldnt be leaving middlesborough..
TrickyTrev Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Like someone said on this thread, he was dropped as Brad Jones came back from injury. Did you see the boy perform week in week out before he was dropped? He only seemed to make one or two clangers, which every keeper does, he was commanding in the area, really good shotstopper and f*cxing huge!! Leicester are showing signs they mean serious business if they sign this lad!! No, i saw him on Match of the Day every week and once or twice in full games on Sky. As I said, I formed no opinion of him other than the fact he did some good things and some bad things. This being the case, I'll leave it up to the scouts to judge. Goalkeepers are very tough to judge the ability of if you are not purposely studying them, or watching a lot of them. You tend to only remember spectacular saves and spectacular fook ups that do not in fact help you get a true representation of their ability.

I was more worried about the Celtic and Newcastle names.
Stinkenzo Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 10k Chelsea and Newcastle are both looking to sign Middlesbrough goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, skysports.com understands.
lcfc81 Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Turnbull is quality!!! Get him in!!! Notice how Middlesborough got even worse when they dropped him!! I agree think this would be a quality signing, imo he is far better than Brad Jones!
Pete_foxes Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 If the Sky report is correct we won't be signing him, some big clubs sniffing about. yeah true, if it is true that only one of those clubs is in the hunt for him, we still have no chance at all. This is excatly the sort of player we need to be going for all throughout the squad, youngish, ambitious & hoping to achieve, not the 35 year old prem star that has already achieved everything he can and out for his last payday.
foxoffderby Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Would be pleased if he came and has premiership experience, still think he might go elsewhere. I also hope this doesnt stop Stockdale arriving too, rate him highly. Both please chairman.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Yes, didn't particularly excel but definitely performed admirably behind one of the division's weakest and most inexperienced defences. I'd be happy enough if we signed him. Huth, Wheater, Pogatetz, Riggot??? Boro's defense wasn't bad at all. Ross played 22 Prem games this season, with one league cup outing with 3 clean sheets and 4 mom's accordign to boro's own website. Boro were as high as 9th I believe while he was having a good run in the side, and I was suprised to realise he had been dropped for Brad Jones who I've never been convinced by. True he's no Mark Schwarzer (yet) but Boro were confident enough to start with him for the season, so if we could get him on board he could be a great signing. One advanatage we have over Chelsea and Newcastle at the moment is that we have no established keeper - he would be coming to be number 1.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Well 2nd choice at Chelsea pays a damn site better paid than 2nd choice at Middlesborugh or 1st choice at Leicester. I was more worried about the Celtic and Newcastle names. that may be so, and if he chooses to go to Chelsea over us, then I will personally buy the bus ticket for the mercenary, who would show his unambitious, true colours. And why go to Chelsea, when theres no permernant manager there... he could get dumped by the new one in an instant
Pete_foxes Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Good signing I reckon. £10k though? is a fair old whack for a goal keeper and for a club like us!
Ozwin Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Wow, we really are on the up if we're looking at players like him. I'm very impressed.
MPH Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Well 2nd choice at Chelsea pays a damn site better paid than 2nd choice at Middlesborugh or 1st choice at Leicester. I was more worried about the Celtic and Newcastle names. it isnt ALWAYS about money... lets face it - he would get first team football at leicester and not at chelsea... it all depends what he wants, i guess.... He is 24 and has plenty of time to get regular premiership football... its not like he is 34 and now chelsea are sniffing around for a no2.. ( its him im trying to persuade btw not you.. )
Mort Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Would be an impressive and ambitious signing, would be very happy if we could pull it off... far from convinced we will though. That said the Chelsea link doesn’t pass the smell test for me, Newcastle maybe but even there he'd be back-up to Harper, so I don’t think it's as unrealistic as some folks seem to be suggesting.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 If the Sky report is correct we won't be signing him, some big clubs sniffing about. Yeah, but we are MASSIVE!
potter3 Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Would be a great signing, from what I've seen at least, doubtful though.
ousefox Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 This would definateky be the signing of the summer but unfortunately i can't see this happening.
Carlos9 Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Harsh photo to use.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...15875-21344566/ Is that a good source? I would personally be pleased if we got him in net for us. Nige knows best, as we have seen with Hobbs, Gilbert and the rest of the loanees. If their willing to offer him 10k a week must mean they are confident.
