"We can reach play-offs next season"

The guy is just giving his opinion, like we are on here. Cut it some slack will ya.

I don't understand the anti-Ginetta stuff tbh. Although I get pretty annoyed by the fact that every time the Mercury need an opinion they go to him, he is just giving an opinion. If anyone on here was the appointed spokesperson for FT and was asked about their views on promotion/relegation/results/transfers and they got stick just for offering their views, they'd be pretty pissed off about it.

As for the whole DJ thing, I reckon it's fairly certain he'll be someone else's player next season but a lot of people would have said that about Howard and Fryatt last year too, so who knows.

Incidenatlly, what was the thing about DJs injury? Are we saying he wasn't actually injured?

The season hasn't even began yet mate and your already coming out with shit like that. Be interesting to see your views when we start losing game and DJ isn't at the club.

Well if we miss out on playoffs or go down due to our strikers not scoring enough goals with Dj gone, then it will be NP with egg on his face.

The fact is we may aswell keep him for another option. Then we may only have to buy 1 new striker instead of 2.

So we can blame DJ for relegation last year? Not enough goals, he was at the club, played a fair bit.

"I don't want to go back to Leicester though – anything apart from that."

Direct Quote from the man himself! DJ campbell can kiss my arse, do you people really want this man playing for us who will have little to no commitment to the club next year. Who cares if he scores goals for blackpool, he isn't coming back to us.

So NP would be left with egg on his face because our strikers didn't score enough goals whereas if we had held on to DJ, he would have bagged shitloads. Probably.

Bollocks. If you look at DJ's goalscoring record then it isn't very impressive. Yes he scored a few at Blackpool (a number of pens included) but so did Dickov last year, and he's still shit.

You're like a (mad)dog with a bone. Just let it go, he doesn't want to be here and 99.9% of Leicester City supporters are not losing much sleep over that fact!

If it wasn't for that quote - which hasn't been denied or claimed as a misquote - a lot of people would be happier to have him back and fight for his place. But we know where he stands, know he doesn't want to play for us and we're better off getting what we can for him. This club has survived 125 years, most of it without DJ Campbell, I'm sure we can do another season without him.

Sentiment could be our first handicap next season. Howard and Fryatt have been brilliant for us this season but when I hear that people would rather start with them come August I could see us being off the pace - as usual in the Championship - well before the end of October.

Thankfully Pearson doesn't strike me as being sentimental although he has said something along the lines of current players having earned the right to take us to the new level.

There is a diference for the strikers now in that we do have wingers and creative support and I'm quite sure there will be more.

It could be that they will demonstrate that the failings of our relegation season were down to lack of supply. But I'm not altogether convinced.

Indeed if Howard/Fryatt remain our first choice strike partnership come Christmas I'll be amazed and, presumably, delighted because they will have exceeded all my expectations.

Clemence's potential re-emergence will create more problems than it will solve and, until I see the calibre of what I hope will be at least six genuinely new signings - each of them better than what we already have - then I'll remain extremely sceptical about our prospects of a top six place.

Even in Division One the team we have now was made to look quite ordinary at times - certainly by Peterborough and MK Dons but also by others like Tranmere and Hartlepool. We face a much sterner test now and from opponents who have both money and knowhow.

For someone who is normally such a reasoned poster I can't begin to understand your logic.

Between them this season, Fryatt and Howard got 45 goals. You are a poster who has always espoused giving players who are already at the club a chance. These guys have earned the right to be our first choice front two. Admittedly, we are desperate for more competition up front, as Hayles and Dickov are useless, but to say that Howard and Fryatt aren't good enough now is just plain unfair. We have to let them have a chance to see how their partnership develops in the championship. And by that I don't mean the first 5 games, I mean the first 10-15 games. If it isn't working, then change it.

We have had too much upheaval lately. I'll be dismayed if we make too many signings in the summer. Let's give NP's team a chance under his leaderhsip. Writing off the likes of Howard and Fryatt before we start is going to help nobody

If we get £200k for Campbell i'll be happy. Keep Howard and Fryatt, but put Fryatt on the bench or rotate with a new fast forward, Simon Cox or David Nugent hopefully :)

Midfield keep Dyer on the left, keep Oakley and King but have one on the bench because they are not strong enough as a pair, not scrappy enough, get Andrew Surman, and right midfield get Akos Buzsaky or Nathan Dyer, and send Gradel to a high League One side on loan.

Defence, centre backs sorted. Right back could do with Frank Simek, I have a dilemma about Gilbert, if he can get at the top of his game for the season then do it, but who knows what will happen. Left back i'd say go for Emmiliano Insua or Dean Lewington, because Mattocks gone right off the boil, send him to the same club as we send Gradel to for a loan.

Keeper get Stockdale and Warner. Job done, if we follow an example like this then hopefully we will make the playoffs.

Will not work in the Championship, got away with it in League One but Fryatt is not fast enough, if he gets Simon Cox pace then do it, otherwise get Simon Cox.

The point is that none of us are chairman of the supporters' club! I don't have a problem with him being able to give his opinion in the local media (in fact on the face of, it I feel it's a good thing)...but everytime he opens his mouth, I find myself thinking 'what is he on?' Remember he said our match with MK dons would be 'like a cup final'? As for this DJ Campbell business, the less said the better...he obviously doesn't want to play for the club again, and when he was here he was NP's 4th or 5th choice striker - so for him to say that he 'could get a chance' next season shows just how much of a plonker he really is.

Although with local media, you've got to remember that most journalists just make it all up as they go along, with poor standards of reporting, a very flexible attitude towards quotation, etc. So he may have been presented out of context.

DJ CAMPBELL DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR US AGAIN. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW WELL HE'S DONE FOR BLACKPOOL, HE WILL NOT PLAY FOR US. CAN WE PLEASE SHUT UP ABOUT HIM.

Fucks sake.

I don't mind what Cliff says, I just hope fans of other clubs don't all put us in that same boat of ua all thinking we will make the play-offs.

We won't touch the play-offs next season. I don't think we will go down, but that it still to be seen with signings to come. We have the nucleus and potential to be at best mid-table next season.

Should we make it, and maybe even auto, hey, I wouldn't be complaining, and it would be fantastic. But I don't see us doing it. Simply becuase of the huge competition there will be next season.

Forget Deej, whether he stays or goes, we need to plan as if he isn't here next season. Get a striker or two in, and maybe a winger, defence is pretty alright, as long as we get a RB, and some back-ups. Other than that, we should be fine in terms of survival.

Lets start walking in this division before we can run though

An outlook, in part, contradictory to your signature. I know we do have a hell of a lot of pessimism on this forum sometimes, but why shouldn't we be challenging for the play-offs?

We all know what our Chairman is about and the expectation applied from the top down. With the set-up we have (especially with our Manager) and some money to spend, why can't we be a little more optimistic with our outlook?

Peterborough and McDons (even if they don't make it) have shown what can be done in back to back seasons. I'm not suggesting that the Championship will be a similar ride to that which we experienced this year but there's nothing wrong in setting challenging targets.

Using our new found momentum and summer purchases (whoever they may be) I think our team need to have belief that a play-off spot is within reach providing everyone gives their all for the cause.

Also, I can't see our infamous home crowd boo-boys remaining quiet if we're not pushing on.

We've got to be trying to push on for at least a play off place.

Im pretty sure thats what every team in that League aims for.

This isn't the Premiership where it's always the same top 4, its ultra competitive and any team can win it, or lose it and go down. As proved with sides like Charlton, Southampton, Norwich, Forest, Leeds, Us, all fairly recent Premiership clubs coming down to League 1. If all those teams can go down, any team can win this.

If we keep this winning momentum going theres no reason we can't do well, with or without certain players.

Will we make the play offs next season? - good question and I don't see why not!

Its important to set an objective - Milan did that - back to the Prem in 3 seasons, so far we are on track - phase one completed.

Nigel now needs to prove his quality and potential ability to mix it with the big boys by build a team over the next two years that is strong enough for the prem.

It's good that he is being loyal to his players - those that worked hard to get us to the top of league 1 deserve a shot at the Championship but as has been said elsewhere, if they don't cut it, do not be scared to move on and find new players.

Cliff's right, with the right players and the right tactics and strategy we can do it. No problem

Its up to Nigel to define that strategy, find those players and implement those tactics

Viva Leicester!
