Tabou Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I have decided that I am going to go camping this weekend, being a bank holiday and all. The weather looks decent, and I quite fancy pissing in stinging nettles/eating tepid beans for 2 nights. Does anyone have any suggestions for camp sites? Any where reallly worth going? Thinking of taking the mountain bike and just exploring a bit. Preferably with a pub nearby.
General Smuts Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Ha! I too am going 'camping' this weekend. By that i mean me and 11 mates are staying in a rented barn in Kent for the weekend and getting twatted outdoors.
Wilbur Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Go to Glastonbudget! Camping, live music and real ale - it's fantastic I've been a few times but can't make it this year http://www.glastonbudget.net/index.php As an extra bonus, Chesney Hawkes is playing
Tabou Posted 21 May 2009 Author Posted 21 May 2009 If you can afford it, go to Scotland I thought about this. Just don't know anything about Scotland, other than it being rather splendid.
hairy Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 There is a camp site at Wing Hall just near Rutland water. You can have a camp fire there. The cycling opportunities are endless as are the pubs. Its close enough so if you lose you tent or it pisses it down you can nip home.
Monk Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 There's too much to summarise in detail, but off the top of my head there is a great campsite in ardlui on the north shore of Loch Lomond. There are some great walks and there's a 17th century inn with a roaring fire and live music to pass the evenings. There is a train station there and it's about a 25 minute walk from there.

General Smuts Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 That sunburn looked really nasty. It's even worse after the game/drive home.
Guest Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 It's even worse after the game/drive home. Aloe vera gel. The green stuff. Keep it in the fridge, then apply liberally to sunburn. It is a beautiful feeling. I have to admit, I always thought I was pale, but I looked Mediterranean next to you!!

Merging Cultures Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 I am looking at tents, way too much choice.  Canvas v Man made Dome v Cabin  I'm leaning towards a canvas cabin, plenty of space and will last forever, but costs a fortune.  What do you all have?
