Newcastle Away Roll Call

Hopefully the distance will put off other part-timers so I can pop along with a Newcastle supporting friend without having to sit on my hands all game (which is something I'd be terrible at.)

It's crazy the amount that people say that; they clearly didn't notice that he got them battered by the worst Premiership (hell, English top flight even) team ever, and Derby's 4pts from those matches could easily have been 6. My friend went to the Pride Park game (aka their only win) and reckoned that it was not just the worst game of football he'd ever seen (and bear in mind I'd been dragging him to our dismal matches for a while), but that Derby could have won by 3 or 4. They were THAT bad under Allardyce, and getting worse. Replacing him with Keegan would have been an absolute masterstroke, if they hadn't then gone and fooked it up by bringing in Wise.

Says a lot for the quality of the Newcastle coaching staff at the time. Whatever happened to them? :unsure:

And wasn't it Matt Oakley that got Derby's winner in that game?

Exactly but thing i don't get is why they are so obssessed with having a Geordie in charge. With someone like Allardyce in charge obviously the style of play would'nt have matched what they we're used to but they almost certainly would'nt of gone down. Cant wait to hopefully beat them and hopefully Shearer the **** will be in charge :thumbup: .

Can't be arsed with this. Never enjoyed my previous trips to St James' and loads of day trippers will tag along for this one.

Saying that, I may still end up going, who knows, but there are other away days I am looking forward to far more than Newcastle.

Saying that, I may still end up going, who knows, but there are other away days I am looking forward to far more than Newcastle.

See where you're coming from. It'll be the best stadium we visit next season without a doubt, but that doesn't necessarily mean the best away day of the season. I'll still go to St. James' for the experience, but I have to say I'm looking forward to Hillsborough, the City Ground and Pride Park more.

They're not, really, I mean, an at best mediocre setup and in comes probably the best manager of recent years there - if we'd brought in Martin O'Neill when Martin Allen was sacked, you'd not be saying the same.

With the Shearer thing, getting in an ex-player at that point of season is an act of desperation, and frankly it would have been a case of 'anything but the last lot' for quite a few I'm sure.

It's really not that big of a deal.

It won't be the first away day i'll look for anyway.

I'd certainly put the likes of F*rest, the Sheep, Peterborough, Palace etc. ahead of it, that's for sure. But it is a bloody nice stadium and a pretty decent city to visit too.

For me, its behind Forest & Derby, in the Peterborough, Palace, Bristol City, Cardiff category.

Will be going, but I think it will be overpriced, it will fall on a weeknight and we'll take 600.

I don't think some people realize how much/long the journey is.
