Somewhat similar to your project, it would take archived news footage from a selected year and soundtrack it with the music released/coincident with the events. Should be able to find episodes online, possibly You Tube or Daily Motion.

I write so many words during the week it can get a bit dull - I secrete bands, tracks, lyrics within the articles to give myself a bit of light relief and have a chuckle. So far, only one person has spotted what I've been up to over the last 8 years 

 

No one even twigged when I wrote a sub-head "Nick me baby, one more crime" in an article peppered with Britney references. It was meant to be very serious!
