I obviously hate losing as much as anyone but i particularly hate losing the opening game, so much hype expectation and build up to this first game and then we lose! I recently remember Blackpool, that was horrible, Luton on telly, sheff utd on telly, all killlers!

An away game to start with, and I'd like to finish at home.

I'll go for Plymouth away on the first day and Blackpool at home on the last day. Probably send 'em down too..

Connolly and De Vries was up top? Douglas give a penalty away i thinkk? either 3-1 or 4-1

Yeh, I watched in the pub on my holidays and I was too downhearted cos we actually did do too bad (we were simply caught on the counter, a couple of times towards the end).

Then I thought we were in for a great season when we beat Stoke 4-2 the following Tuesday.

Watford at home....always do well at the Walkers in August against them poxy so-so's.

Went to that :). Lovely Connolly hat-trick. Then he left

4-1

As a matter of fact, we don't really have a good record on the opening day. We've only won two of our last eight opening day fixtures.

At a complete guess, did we get promoted both times? (seeing as 02-03 was within the last eight opening day fixtures and I can't be bothered to check if we won :D)

It wasn't last season that's why.

Yes it was. 07-08?

The last season we played in was 08-09.

Thank you. I see being in every Championship page across the whole of the world as a new season.

A season is from 1st July to 31st May. No 11 a side games are sanctioned by the FA during June (supposedly - it says in the handbook).

I am gonna say that i reckon we will get Watford at some point in August, if not Watford first game i will say Ipswich at home.

Isn't that standardly a Boxing Day defeat? <_<

As long as Ipswich away is in uni term time, I'll be happy.

Read something about that. Apparently a site can get fined £10,000 if you don't have a license to publish full fixtures. Apparently you can only post 3 lots of fixtures i.e. 3 weekends etc.

Basically some company called Dataco (the branch that look after PL, FL and SPL) charge ridiculous fees for fixtures so most sites can't show them. You can get into all sorts of trouble for publishing the full fixture list (actually, more than two fixtures believe it or not), so, so incredibly frustrating and petty.

The fixtures are merely advertisments for the games that the fans go and pay their hard-earned money to see at the end of the day.

It always seems to be an xmas fixture yes, so I imagine we will probably get them third or fourth game away then at home at xmas.
