The Doctor Posted 26 June 2009 Posted 26 June 2009 6th. sneak into the play-offs on the last day. then lose in the final.
Matt Posted 26 June 2009 Posted 26 June 2009 My aim and target is play-offs to around 13th, I think that is a pretty fair and realistic aim. If we are involved in a relegation battle I won't be impressed at all. Obviously 1) Because it's no fun and 2) If this season (last season) counts for anything we have to compete in the Championship. I'm a believer in we had to take a step backwards to take a few steps forward, we were languishing in the Championship for to many years, relegation battle after relegation battle, We got relegated, we rebuilt, we've hopefully got the right man in charge and we've had a new start, we need to push on from that, if it results in a relegation battle we won't have moved or pushed on from anywhere. Play-offs to Top half please. Also I'd take it if it happened but I feel if we get promoted next season it'll be a season, or a few seasons too early and could damage us again, Too get promoted would be great but do get battered in the Premiership? Nah, IMO would undo all the good work that has started this season (last season). We need to progress but slowly, I'm patient and realistic, I'm just worried other are not.
Jackirius Posted 26 June 2009 Posted 26 June 2009 I would like to do a swansea, come up and challenge the big teams finish around the play offs and have something to compete for and get the leicester city name up their again, then build on that.

Vlad The Impaler Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 Although a mid-table finish would be nice. I genuinely believe we have got what it takes to acheive back to back promotions, okay so maybe a few more signings may be needed.. or maybe not, just look at Everton/Stoke/Burnley last season, Everton had the majority of their star players injured and have a small squad, i'm not saying we are as good as Everton but maybe a lower league version of them, if every player gives 100% this season then we will shock alot of people, the lads need the crowd cheering them on and as long as we have a good team spirit (which it appears we do) then we stand a good chance. We are playing the right style of football and have one of the best young talented managers out there at this current time in Nigel Pearson, also we finished with quite a few more points than what Swansea did the year before and look where they are, 8th! And i can't recall them making too many changes to their squad when promoted, there's not as big gap between league 1 and championship as some of you are making out.
maddog Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 We could quite easily beat every side in that league and make it back to back titles. But we could quite easily lose to every side in that league and make it back to back Championship relegations. Thats the problem with that League, it's so competitive. I think it will balance out slightly in our favour and voted top half. Our forwards are looking extremely weak at the moment though, and it was the lack of goals from Fryatt especially that got us relegated last time. But everyone is praying they can both repeat their goalscoring form of league one. If they don't we could be looking at bottom half/ relegation fight again unless NP pulls off a few Tunchev-esque signings up front. But if there is a lack of signings up front i think the team spirit and fight instilled by NP will still save us.
Gaffer Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 cant believe someone hasnt said it yet... Top 24? 10th-13th would do nicely

Promotion next season is a realistic target. We should be at least as good as Swansea were last season. Birmingham got automatic promotion and were crap! With the exception of their strikers, Wolves were a crap outfit. The secret for us lies with what strikers we have for next season. The rest is almost in place already. NP seems to be a quiet but very clever guy. Most of the people we are getting or are being linked with are over six feet tall - size matters. We now have a full-back with a long throw. ( Bonus ). I reckon N'Guessan could be used ( as time goes on ) as a striker ( Thierry Henry started as a winger ). Dany is 6'1", strong and sh*t off a shovel. Automatic promotion is only a matter of will we have the strikers? Let's face it though, most of my friends think I am over optimistic - they thought that last season as well, but I was almost spot on with my prediction, they were nowhere. Most LCFC fans would give us no chance of promotion even if our squad included:- Ferdinand, Vidic, Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi with Rooney and Arshavin on the bench. Lighten up all you pessimists, new players will be arriving soon ( although maybe not the ones I have mentioned ), then you too might be able to risk just a touch more optimism!
Kilworthfox Posted 29 June 2009 Posted 29 June 2009 I'm always very interested to see how fans of other clubs think they will do in the coming season. So over to you Leicester fans... We will struggle no doubt. We have a worse forward line than the one we went down with as we have lost Hume the top scorer in the 3 seasons he was here, and gained no one other than Dickov whose legs went as soon as he put the LCFC pen down. The midfield has a very talented Gradel in it, Oakley who is very hit & miss, Clemence who probably never play again due to injury's, King is very young and does not have the consistency in his game, and also at League 1 level did get lost when the tough got going. Dyer is quick, but needs to be direct otherwise he has no use. Tunchev is the best Defender we have signed since Matt Elliott, and he is probably better than him, we will see when he gets a real challenge, which I doubt the Championship can offer him? Other wise the defence is actually solid. New Gk has a decent write up, but I have no opinion on his as yet. In short I think that we may scrape survival, but it remains to be seen who the supposed new 3 players will be,

Fox92 Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 I'd like to think that we could have a nice little impact like Swansea and Bristol City did have. I think we could have a few points in the first month. Were at home the first game of the season so we COULD get off to a good start, we need to aswell seeing as we have got two hard away games at Portmand Road and Bramall Lane. Then, Barnsley at home and Newcastle away! On the other hand, with our current team and current signings I am feeling not very confident. Yes, the side dominated League 1 but it is a little but fairly hard step up. Keep on thinking that Oakley/King won't be good enough, if Dyer starts becoming inconsistant again, are Fryatt and Howard going to score enough goals? Bit scared with the new signings as well, the lad from Lincoln will he be good enough? Looks great on videos but that is League 2 isn't it. Just signed Astrit.. hmmm not sure about that one. Chris Weale must be our number one, cannot comment on Nielson obviousley. Happy with Hobbs and Brown though. A mid table finish/top half finish would be fine with me! Play offs or champions/automatic, well that would be immense.
Guest Gist Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 It's hard to call, the Championship is such a competitive league.... But I'll go with around 10th place.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 On the optomistic side, I will say about 18th.
The Doctor Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 On the optomistic side, I will say about 18th. what does the pessemistic side say then?
emitunchev Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 guys I hope we can be champions and move up to the next league. That would be wonderful, also I hope that Tunchev doesn't get anymore injuries It will be wonderful to see him play, and LCFC go to the upper league.
